I went to the TSA this morning and paid to be a TSA precheck person. $85 for five years, and I can always go to the precheck line now. Mr. brown has an appointment in a couple of weeks and he’ll do the same thing.
No more taking off of shoes or belts for us, nor taking out the laptop or the stupid little bottles of liquid in their ziplock bags!
I woke up this morning feeling rested, and I have a lot to do later on today. It’s a struggle to get a lot of stuff done when you’re fatigued, but luckily today I feel good. Your health is your wealth.
I realize I’m guilty of judging a book by it’s cover here, but here it goes…
Walking out of Kroger the other day, I noticed three “good ol’ boys”, helping a Muslim lady, dressed in full garb, get her car out that she managed to get stick in a ditch.
I have been away from home at a rather intense conference for a week. I got home last night. Two hour flight and the because of holiday traffic into the mountains, a 4.5 hour drive to get home (over twice as long as usual). Phewww.
I have a brand new grill that I have only used once, a rib eye in the fridge and absolutely nothing I have to do this long weekend. Dealers choice.
It’s also sort of cloudy and rainy. That will help me just relax instead of working on things.
Our 23 YO son got another raise (his second) in less than a year of employment for a total of $3.10 an hour more. So he’s making around $17/hr after doing 2 years and getting his certificates from Comm. College. That’s more than his father was making when we got married and he (Mistermage) had a 4 year degree. (He makes a lot more than that now )
Our 18 YO son has his third semester of Comm. College paid for via a grant (probably because we paid cash for the first year). And he just got put almost full time for his job because they like him, they really like him. (Meat dept. of a local grocery store franchise. He’ll be learning a valuable trade to fall back on if his chosen field isn’t hiring.) (For the summer… they know he’s going to school.)
Our 15 YO son is doing well on his first job (detasseling corn). No moaning about getting up at 4am, how much walking they do and not even a peep about working in the rain.
And to make me extremely happy Mistermage is cutting down and digging out a corner of the yard that gets full sun for 3/4 of the day which means I will have a place for just flowers vs the veggie gardens I have in various spots of the yard. I have some larkspur seeds, a vine my middle son gave me for Mother’s Day that up until now I hadn’t had a good niche to plant it and I am sure I can pick out a few other flowers to place in this huge area. I hated that corner the day we bought this place so it’s only been about a decade but finally!
While the cutting down and removing part won’t be exactly “fun” for him (but he does like using his toys) the removal will include the usage of the backhoe he bought which will be fun for him. He’s only been able to play with it (as in actually doing something vs just moving it around) 3 times.
I started my own cleaning business in March. After some bumpy parts, it’s beginning to grow and my occasionally shaky mental health is starting to stabilize.
I’ll go to my first photography meet up group tomorrow night.
And Walmart had the cutest bright blue and white daisies, with splashes of other colors, on sale for less than $5. So, fresh flowers for us!
On Canada Day my dog and I ran our fourth Canada Day 10K Race together, my husband ran his very first race ever (the 10K - finished in 00:59:14), and my dog and I got a personal best (1:03:34). And it rained the entire time.
My husband learned an important lesson about nipples - I’m a girl and obviously wear a sports bra so it never occurred to me to tell him to put Band-Aids on them. Poor guy.
And right now my co-worker just handed me my favourite donut! He knows my new life rule called “Don’t buy donuts” which means that when he randomly brings me one it’s a great big treat!!
