The Cliffs notes version:
Mod from the old days.
Involved in an bitter public argument with another mod in “The Minorities Thread.”
Fired as a mod, but remained on as a member.
Her sig referred to her as having been voted “favorite mod” or something like that, sort of a thumb of the nose to management.
She apparently had still had access to staff boards, and mentioned them in a thread. That seemed to have caused some commotion about a) that a fired mod still had access to them, and b) that she even mentioned these secret handshake meeting places.
Some amount of acrimony precipitated out of that, in which she threatened legal action, which resulted in her being banned.
This caused a lot of members to pack up their bags and leave in support of her. (The old AOL crowd, which was the bulk of the membership at the time was a much more insular, clannish group, IMO.)
She was later banned from that board, too.
That reminds me of a more recent nomination. Whatever happened to the Ron thread?

Is there a thread that lists Doper appearances on Jeopardy!?
Maybe including general Internet memes/catch phrases that affected the Board do have a place. Rick Rolling never really took off here (whew!), nor did Lolcats (mostly). But all our base did set us up the bomb, and it’s now considered Doper courtesy to bring pie (when coming back, of course). A few mentions or references is one thing, but there are certainly a few that became a bit more pervasive. Yes? No?
No date information yet, that’s going to be a smallish project for threads, and eventually we’ll have to work out when/where certain things came from, what came first, etc.

I originally got the sequential thread titles meme rolling (for which I deeply apologize), although you may think I’m a lying liar since my OP ended up getting scrambled down to post #17 during one of our board disruptions.
I skimmed the thread, and I don’t think anyone has mentioned **loverock ** yet. Feel free to correct me if I missed it.
Is this the first loverock thread? I think it may be.
I made a thread intending to get some of this type of information back when I first started. It didn’t get too many responses, but perhaps the stuff that is included could remind people of some more stuff.
By the by, Sweet Sue is STILL my favorite poster ever.
Pretty much right, although you left out the part where before her banning over at the other board, her internet boyfriend faked his own death while “on a safari,” including his somehow e-mailing or calling her from wherever he’d broken his leg and been stranded.
Yeah, he was the second reported “death” after Wally. To make matters even more confusing in his case, at the same time, someone with the same moniker–who was a close friend of a board member, but had no other board connection–died. Poohpah is still the first confirmed.
There was a great flame in the BBQ Pit of somebody who pretended his fiancee had just died for board sympathy; then a few threads and a few hours later was all cheerful. When called on it, he actually said something like The Butler from Steve Martin’s “The Jerk,” “One can’t mourn forever.”
The name of the flame thread calling him out for B.S. was “My Beyonce Just Died.”
I remember that being a hoot.

The various threads by Sauron, Scylla, and Master Wang-ka remind me of an idea I toyed with a while back for an SDMB writing show. I’ll get back to work on this.
