You shouldn’t be standing on armless chairs anyway!
but, then how am I supposed to reach the cookies on the top cupboard shelf?
Goodness, it’s cold in the house tonight - I have to put the heat on, first time this season!
Off to sleep with me, I’m actually going in to work for a few tomorrow
I know what you mean about stairs – since we don’t have stairs in the house, I don’t climb up or down them that often, and every time I take the first few, my knee protests. This is probably the first time in my life that I wish we had either an upstairs or a basement.
ETA: snowbunny, please check your email!
They’ve put the heat on, here. It’s a little too warm.
Dinner is spaghetti with vegetables and lots of parmesan, and we’re eating in a few minutes. There’s a pumpkin pie in the oven. Given to me by our lovely upstairs neighbours. That’s dessert. Attacks Husband is coming over, and we’re all going to hang out. A great Friday night.
Kitty pictures??? Now!!! (So what if it’s the middle of the night in Tel Aviv - where are your priorities???)
My version of stealth onions isn’t caramelized. It’s onion and garlic (and sometimes cilantro) whirred together in the blender. My great grandma used to start lots of dishes by sauteing that.
Sheep festival looks like fun, snowbunny.
I finished a light mystery (Sweet Revenge by Diane Mott Davidson) and have started reading Ann Patchett’s Run. She’s rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors.
I took the day off in order to hopefully finish ridding myself of the Sick. Also my co-workers said they didn’t want my cooties. (Really. I said I might come in if I felt better in the afternoon and the message that came back was: don’t bother, we don’t want your cooties.
)
Taking a break from reading to surf a bit.
Back later…

I’m not ready to turn on the heat, but I did preheat my bed last night, and I’ll do it tonight, too. I won’t sleep with the electric blanket on, but I’ll use it to take the chill off the sheets. In fact, I’m going to go turn it on now.
Where are the kitty pictures?
Tomorrow is “Help the Hooch” - volunteers go down and pick up trash along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. I can’t do much climbing this year because of my back, but I can carry trash bags. The Booster Club always gets a group together to participate. We have a good time, I just wish it didn’t start so early! We’re meeting for breakfast at 7!
More news on the job front: I had lunch with the director today, and I think it went pretty well, except that she mentioned that there is an internal candidate, and implied they were likely to go with her. However, when I talked to my manager and mentioned the internal candidate, she said, "I’ll take care of that. :dubious: " She says that the only hold up now is the yelling about salary. I’m wondering who’s doing the yelling. Someone overplayed their hand when they approved my rate with the agency, or the agency didn’t tell them how much I was making, so I already know what I’m worth to them. Oops. And now that they have my salary history, they’ve discovered just how big of a raise they’ve given me: 22.7% to be exact. Oops again.
It’s been raining off and on all day here, but it’s not really cold enough to turn on the heat yet. It’s just perfect for snuggling under a down comforter. Knitting is much more enjoyable this time of year, too.
Howdy y’all! I’m up, dressed, fed and all anxious for another excitatin’ night at da brewry. Oh and to make matters worse… next week is third shift again! Have I mentioned lately that I HATE THIRD SHIFT?
Other than that nuttin’ much to report on. Tonight’s ensemble is dark blue pocket t and blue jeans.
Bye Y’all!
You want a kitty? Here’s a kitty!
You might want to turn the volume up…
snicker
Looks familiar, except Lucretia prefers hand grenades. Speaking of which, she is currently engaged in a yowling match with one of the neighbor’s cats.
Sorry about third shift, Swampus. I hated it, too–even though I requested to go on it, many years ago(I had major insomnia problems). I believe it messed me up-physiologically, emotionally (very isolating), hormonally etc. I will never do it again.
Good luck getting through it next week. Any news on the other job?
Jahdra-Screw 'em. You’re paid what you’re worth.
Am reading an interesting book by Hope McIntyre called How to Seduce a Ghost. It’s supposed to be a mystery, but right now it’s just a book. She’s a youngish (40) introvert who ghost writes. She has a touch of OCD as well. Set in UK. So far, so good.
Driving by to ~wave~ to all the people.
Significant amounts of suffering today. But doc says I’m fine. . .just a garden variety virus. The woman at the doctor’s office threw off my pity party though. . .she had had her leg amputated.
Thanks for the well wishes, Lunch. And congrats on the kitty. I like the name Roger. Maybe he/she will be Roger Dodger soon.
::sitting in the corner with Mamatigs and gt with a mask on so as not to spread cooties::
G’dammit, where are the cat pics already?!
Whatcha got a problem with us for?
obligatoy drunken post! Youknow you’ve misssed them?
I like it, but the question mark baffles me.
That’s a funny word, baffles.
baffles.bafflesbafflesbafflesbafflesbaffles
Argh. someone make me go to abed.
Ah, a battle of the wits!
En Garde!
Sheesh, impatient much? ![]()
Here you go… Silly kitten…
BTW, the twins have officially re-named the critter. It’s new name is, you guessed it… “Silly” ![]()
Haze, I expect some drunken “squee” comments ![]()
**Roo **-- on the amputee! Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? Still, glad it’s just a virus and I hope you’re feeling better!
**Swampy **-- I’m kind of far away, I couldn’t hear you… how did you say you liked the third shift?
Appropriate noises in the general direction of everyone else.
