That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

what’s that one, Lou Rawls sang, "you’ll never find … "?

that one, sugar.

If you can’t find Lou Rawls, hows about a bit of the ol’ great Satchmo?

It sure is purdy out today. Anyone wanna sit on a blanky with me in the garden for a while with a bottle of wine?

:ivylass stumbles in with an armload of cut flowers and some green tomatoes:

Who wants some fried green tomatoes?

Oooh, Wonderful World, featuring Satchmo.

I will only think good thoughts when I hear it, even if it was one of my wedding songs (to the now-moved-out husband). It’s lovely.

Ivy, what beautiful flowers! Where on earth did these jonquils come from? And these…purple ones! How I love purple ones!

Todd, That is my FAVORITE Mamas & Papas song - You have good taste!

And um, can I request some Barry White? I swear, I smile every time I hear him.

And Lovely Day - Bill Withers, I Bid You Goodnight - the Nevilles, and Three Little Birds - Bob Marley…

Oh don’t get me started!!!
And I love that Ivylass is working on the flowers and garden! Your name matches what you like to do!!

Here you go, NinetyWt: “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” by Lou Rawls closes that stack of six…and it’s a pleasure, ma’am. Todd tips his figurative hat

And since you can never reallyhave enough Satchmo, this next stack has his version of “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” for Washte and “What A Wonderful World” for bodypoet.

(I always associate that song with The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, both the radio and TV series…so I will also have good thoughts with bodypoet while it plays.)

And for DeVena, I have “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” by Barry White. Add in the Withers, Nevilles and Marley, and we have our next stack finished. (And what do you mean, “don’t get me started?” You have very good taste, too…you throw in all the suggestions you want!)

I’m pointing the spare set of speakers out the open window so I can join Washte and the rest of the gang outside on the blanket for some wine. What kind would you like, Washte? And should I bring the puppies?

Oh, nearly forgot: I swung by the bulk candy place on the way back to the thread and grabbed several pounds of Jelly Bellys. Even pre-mixed them, too… Todd pulls out an assortment of jars from a big box This one’s got Strawberry Daiquiri, Margarita, Pina Colada and Champagne flavors…and this one’s got Cafe Latte, Espresso and Cappucino…and this one’s got Chocolate Pudding, Honey Graham Cracker and Toasted Marshmallow…and a jar of fruit basket flavors with some Carmel Apple Beans thrown in…and a tropical fruit one with Coconut and Pineapple and Mango…and here’s one with Buttered Toast, Buttered Popcorn and Carmel Corn…and a few other jars in here too. The biggest one’s got a little of everything.

Dig in!

:ivylass calls out from the kitchen:

The fried green tomatoes are done! Come and get them!

bodypoet, your new kitchen looks wonderful. I love your new stove, and the floor is fantastic.

I’m going to prune the ixoras and weed around the plumbagos…I also have some crape myrtle trees to plant…where do you want them?

Crepe Myrtles!!! My grandpa always called the “God’s Confetti”! Just love them.

OK Todd, since you were so sweet to compliment me… I think bodypoet (and several others) could use Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry - especially the chant part (Every things gonna be alright…)

Hugs to everyone! Let me know if we’re low on anything and I’ll make a grocery run. Until then, I’ll be napping in the nearest sun puddle.

DeVena…just callin’ 'em like I see 'em! Do you prefer the live or the studio version of “No Woman No Cry?”

Bless you, ivylass, for the fried green tomatoes…I haven’t had these since I was a wee duckling.

How are our other parties? Tygr, how are you doing? Deadly Nightlight, how’ bout you? I’m missing hearing from some of y’all!

I’m taking advance orders for supper; if anybody wants stew or chili I need to get an early start. If you’re willing to settle for pot luck then I’ve got time to lay out and enjoy the sun for a while.

Fried Green Tomatoes! I am so there

How is everyone, I keep losing this thread, so i am glad someone bumped it, I hope everyone is doing ok, and I have a giant vat of macaroni and cheese to add to them fried green tomatoes:)

Lurk, if you could mix up some ice-cold lemonade it would be great. I just popped in for a glass of water before I go back out to the garden.

I think I saw some cantaloupe out there that looks ripe…

Is someone willing to just hold me for a while? Preferably someone big who could let me sit on their lap with my arms around their neck and ear to their chest, with my eyes closed. I’ll listen to the conversation for a while, then fall asleep.

It’s been one of those weeks that make me wish my mommy and daddy were here and that I were five again.

Well, I don’t fit the bill for holding, but I’ll give you a big hug. hug

Todd, always “live” if available. I’m a bit of a performance junkie. I’ve seen some really wierd concerts in my time (everyone from Tom Jones to Mettalica to Nickel Creek) but I just like it better. (Besides, with “live” you get crowd response!! I love it when everyone sings along!)

and {{{{{{Gazelle}}}}}}}, I hope your week gets better!

gee can i have a bad enough day without hampsetrs munching my posts, I need some something

Ooooh, Deadly, I just read your BBQ Pit post. You surely dodged a bullet there, didn’t you?

Here’s some nice cornmeal-coated fried green tomatoes, careful, they’re hot, and a nice sprig of jasmine to smell. Can you cut up some cantaloupe for me when you’re more serene?

((((((((((((((((((Deadly)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Oh, poor you. Sounds as if you’ve had one heck of a week Gazelle from Hell. Would you like to borrow Kal for a while? He gives great hugs, and he’s big and furry…

Great choice of music todd. If you’d be so kind as to bring the puppies out with ya, and I’ll leave the choice of wine up to you - I do prefer sweet fruity ones though.

I’ve never had fried green 'matos. May I try one?

A colleague just urned up with some Girlscout cookies.

455 boxes

And it’s time for a mid-afternnon break.

Mint Thins or Samoas - the eternal question

Samoas? What tasty treat might these be?

Shall we have a taste test?
