That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

What’s going on, ArrrMatey?! Tell me, tell me. whips up a batch of hot cocoa And I share chocolate! takes a sip of mine mmmm good. So, what’s the scoop? (And who’s making the sammiches??

Hey, bodypoet, your hair looks all pretty-ful! May I have this dance?

Lynne_kilii, sending healing vibes your way, for you and your mom. After bodypoet and I work on you, I’ll take sandwich detail this time; what’s wanting?

I’m making myself a turkey club on toasted wheat bread, with lots of leaf lettuce on it. What would everybody else like?

ArrrMatey, come fill us in. Sounds like you had a rough seven-hour stretch there. Todd makes room in the blanket tent, which is still standing in the living room

I’ve found the most amazing ice cream to share with you while you tell us about it. (Ben & Jerry’s “Uncanny Cashew,” which has cashews and a caramel ribbon suspended in…get this…sweet cream ice cream! No other flavors in the mix at all. Great stuff.)

Todd puts on hot tea for ivylass’ imminent departure from the tub, just in case there’s still a chill in the air

ooh, bodypoet, I so missed your post! Sorry. Thanks so much for the back-rub. And thanks Todd.
I’ll tell my mom y’all sent her some love…in a few days, when she’s not so grrrr-y. She’s really hurtin right now. I couldn’t even stay in the room last night. Grr girlie parts or a (new) lack there-of. I hope she’ll be feeling better today.
I am a whole lot less stressed today. Hooray for nice people.

Eh, well, this is a comfort party, so I won’t go into too much detail. I’ll just say that I’ve been feeling very invisible to people I care about recently, and last night another nail was hammered into that. It sucks when you feel ignored by those that you try your damndest to be close to.
On cheerier news, after taking a nice 8-hour deep breath, I managed to compose a somewhat coherent email putting forth how I felt to those involved, and I’ve gotten some positive, and some negative, responses, but I’ve at least addressed the problem.

For those who don’t want tortillas with their chili, here are some Doritos to scoop with.

May I have some clam chowder, please? Haven’t had any in years and love the stuff!

Here, everyone can have a daffodil. They just bloomed this morning and are very lovely!

Here you go, Washte! It’s Mom’s recipe; we’ve served it at a lot of our Christmas get-togethers, but it’s wonderful anytime. Todd hands bowl of clam chowder and bag of oyster crackers to Washte And thank you for the daffodil!

You don’t have to feel invisible here, ArrrMatey…and if you need to bounce off an impartial party, just e- me. Would you like some tea?

Your mom sounds like she’s having a rough time, Lynne_kilii, and it sounds like yours hasn’t been so good either. Todd brews more tea to send along to Lynne_kilii’s mom Glad to hear things are going better, though.

(And tell your boyf to get his head out of the most sunless place, already…you’re one of the good ones!)

The trees in the courtyard at my apartment are breaking into blossom as spring begins asserting itself. I’m bringing fresh blossoms into the house to fill the air, and I’m opening a few windows to get some spring in our lungs.

Todd, my “boyf” is a great guy. I’m just confuzzled lately aboot him. It’s k, promise!
My mommy’s feeling a LOT better today, thanks for the caring. She says it’s a lot less pain than what she’s been in lately, and I believe her.

I betcha the trees are beautiful. I can’t wait till the ones here start budding.

ArrrMatey, feel free to add my name onto that e-mail! Till then, more Hot Cocoa!

Washte, thanks so much for the daffodil. I love flowers! hands you a rose Flower trade time ** holds out baskets of different flowers for mix’n’match.

Apropos of absolutely nothing: almost every morning when I step out my front door at 5am to go to work I am greeted by the distinctive call of several cardinals which have apparently taken up residence in my neighborhood, and along the way to the CTA station I almost always see a rabbit. Today it struck me that being reminded of Nature is a pleasant way to start the day. I also noticed that the bulbs which were planted last fall are starting to show green shoots.

Good morning folks
who wants a cup of coffee?
I also gots pecan pie and sweet potato running around here.

Oooh, look at all the people up and around on this lovely morning!

Arrmatey, I’m glad you’re feeling a little better now, and you know we’re all here for you when you need to chat or rant or have a yen for a bag of Ghiradelli chocolate chips.

What beautiful daffodils, Washte! Now…does anyone want to see what happens when you color the vase water with lots of green food coloring? It’s kind of a neat surprise!

Lynne, honey, you doing okay now? Mom feeling better? give yourself however much time you need, boyfriend-wise. Life is long, really, in spite of what folks tell you, and you have lots of time to make the big decisions.

Lurkmeister, you’re absolutely right. We have lots of birds singing in the trees outside here, and pretty soon we’ll spot the pileated woodpecker. He’s a beaut.

[hugs Deadly Nightlight] It’s so good to see you again! How’re things? I’d love some coffee, with lots of cream and sugar and some Ghiradelli chocolate chips and maybe a touch of that vanilla that Arrmatey brought. [aside to Arrmatey] No such thing as “too decadent,” love. Live it up.

Clear the floor, darlin’s, Todd and I are gonna dance.

[puts on music to Heffalumps and Woozles]
How’s this, Todd? Or did you have something different in mind?

Wow, this place 'sploded with action while I was away for a moment…

Deadly Nightlight, pecan pie would be wonderful right about now…reminds me of a good time I had very recently, staying up late and talking with a wonderful somebody at a restaurant post-rehearsal, and I’m all about remembering that. Thank you so much! Now if I could just scrounge up a coconut cake with a ribbon of lemon and another ribbon of raspberry, we’ll even have the same selection of deserts from that night…

** LurkMeister**, I’d say that’s perfectlyapropos. I’ve been thinking much the same thing when I get up to go to work and am surrounded by birds and blossoms…

Lynne_kilii, good to hear things are going alright…I thought from a preceding post that somebody was dissing on one of our gang. Todd sends virtual blossoms to Lynne_kilii and her mom

bodypoet, one of the most delightful armfuls a person could ask for…I was thinking a slow, sweet waltz, but Heffalumps is (are?) just fine…

As it happens, Todd, I have a coconut-lemon-raspberry cake right here in the fridge, chilling for after lunch.

And maybe some bread and butter, too. Can’t have too much good bread and nice soft butter, huh?

Okay, how’s about Heffalumps first, and a waltz after? Mind if I step on your feet a time or three? I only have these delicate little tootsies, after all, which of course you know, because you give such delightful footrubs.

Who’d care to join us? Lots of room here beside the quilt tent…amazing how the place just keeps fitting us, no matter how many folks arrive or what hoopla we get up to.

Oh, my. I’m starting to talk like a Hoosier again. Maybe I’d best rest a bit.

[sub]Oh, no! “Best rest a bit?” More Hoosierisms! Catty-corner! SEEment! Oughta not do that! Your’n, younguns, yup! Someone stop me…[/sub]

<lies down> I might as well get my mail forwarded here. Another rejection letter.

mmmm…pie…

To heck with the diet! May I have a small piece of both pecan and sweet potato please?

The clam chowder was fantastic, thanks. The pie will top it off perfectly

Glad everyone is enjoying the flowers.

Cardinals, eh, Lurky? Haven’t seen one in about 13 years or so. I used to love feeding them when I lived in CT.

Isn’t Nature grand?

Poor Matey. I, too, know the rejection letter blues. Don’t give up.

Here, stoke the puppies, have a cuppa tea, and a piece of pie with loads of whipped cream!

I’m not sure what caused it, but the last few years there’s been an influx of cardinals in my neighborhood. Usually I just hear one or two in the morning, but today it sounded like a whole flock.

Last summer I stepped out the back door and there was one perched in my raspberry patch. When he saw me he flew to a nearby tree and started complaining about having his dinner disturbed.

smile ** bodypoet **, did you read my post a bit back? I’m cool with the decision making, although he threw me a curve-ball last night when he said he loves me. Now my head is reeling, and I’m all, mmk, now what?

listens to heffalumps and woozles mmmm, I love it when I break into humming this. grabs some cocoa and heads over to ArrrMatey

Tough break on the letters, man.

Ok, folks, wheredjall go? I’m gunna bump this once, and give up.

Commence bumping.

I will just slip in here and fluff up some puppies and cushions.
We had tornadoes yesterday and Sweety and I worked out in it for 9 hours cutting trees out of the road and dodging power lines. He was soaked to the skin and almost got hit by a snapping-off tree trunk  .
Would someone hand me a nice cup of hot tea.

Thanx.

Hands NinetyWt a nice hot cuppa Yorkshire tea and a few biccies to warm her insides.

Would you like a cuppa as well Lynne?

Tornadoes eh? I’ve seen a few in Wyoming and on the Oregon coast, but never actually been in one.

Anyone up for leftover homemade chicken curry and rice for brekkie? I’m starved!
