That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

Breakfast sounds good. On workdays my “breakfast” is a granola bar eaten at my desk while I’m reading the SDMB before my manager gets in and starts expecting me to actually work.

Last week it hit 70, and then Sunday night we had a snowstorm. Don’t remember what they’re predicting for this weekend. I just love Chicago weather. :frowning:

Wow…busy, busy, busy in here…sorry about the delay getting back.

NinetyWt, it’s so great to see you this way again. I’ve missed you! How are things? We need to catch up here…

(Oh, and thanks for the shout-out re: pop music in another thread…I appreciate the faith!)

ArrrMatey, hang in there. No rejection in this neck of the woods, I promise! Todd putting in cosmic petition on behalf of ArrrMatey, then fluffs up some extra cushions for the lie-down

Lynne_kilii, I apologize for scaring you…I meant to get in again and say hi, but the past few days have been a little nuts. Hoping you’re well…I stumbled across the most excellent free-trade instant hot chocolate ever made…do you want some?

Anybody else?

LurkMeister, feeling a lesser version of your pain here. It’s been cold out. Something like 44 today, but it’s supposed to be back in the low 70s by the weekend. With any luck, you should be getting at least high 60s on Friday/Saturday. Todd does a little more cosmic petitioning

Washte, I’m glad you liked the clam chowder. I think I might even make a little more to tide us over until the weekend and warmer climes…want some?

bodypoet, thank you for having that wonderful lemon-raspberry-coconut cake on hand. It was wonderful!

As regards the dancing, I’ll try to keep my big stupid feet in check. You can stand on mine if it helps - I’d rather not step on your toes due to my lack of forebrain - and I promise another footrub at dancing’s end!

(side note: did you know the Eagles’ song “Take It To The Limit” is a waltz? So is the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris.” The things you learn working in radio…)

And I’ll take the heat for Hoosierisms, since I keep saying stuff like catty-corner and younguns all the time.

Thanx Washte and Todd. I’ve been busy the last couple weeks, but still having cash flow problems. Some of these bigger corporations take 90 days to pay invoices  .

Sunday was exciting but exhausting. I didn’t really think about Sweety’s injury until later; we were caught up in the adrenalin of the work I guess. These were all huge 50 yr old oaks which had blown across the road, still green. When you cut through the trunk the stump can snap back upright with great force. Although he was watching closesly, this one split and snapped right past him, missing his head by inches. It raked his arm & a splinter punctured his hand. This happened about 2 pm, and he worked on until 9 p.m. Whew !

We had a lot of flash flooding, too, and I was busy today helping a client who has a lot of rental properties assess their damage.

Things are better today !

No thanks to the tea, but please share the hot cocoa and the brand name. Prom was great, lots of fun. So was afterprom. And I got to watch my boy nap. He sleeps cute.

I’ve got a school wide assembly to put on tomorrow, work, and a boyfriend to figure out tomorrow (he was so rude on the phone tonight. Really OOC). WIsh me luck that I don’t just hole up in a corner.

My little brother could use some comfort, as well as the rest of the freshmen at my school. A freshman was killed crossing the highway (drugs are assumed involved) Saturday night, and he was known by a lot of people at school. They’re all taking this hard, and my lil bro is no exception. The funeral is Friday. Noone was expecting this, and nobody really knows what to do. Tragic.
I’d haul them all into the thread, but 400 freshmen are hard to take anywhere.

Footie jammies and many, many hugs to Lynne_kilii. Oh, and some nice toasted sammiches if ya like!

Lynne, sorry to hear about the freshman… much too young…

this place is great… good food, hot beverages, footie jammies, movies, and music… goes well with wonderful new friends…

I’ve been awol for a couple of weeks. we had to prepare, then go to england for a week. my kids bowled in the regional tournament for the american military in europe bowling leagues. it’s their first year bowling competitively and they made it to the regionals! my son came home with a medal, my daughter just missed it by 8 pins. they had twice as many boys as girls, so twice as many medals were handed out to boys… 50% of each group got medals. They both did well… I’m a proud mama.

and some good news fora change… looks like the man could be coming home anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks from now! we’re moving to rhode island! woo hooo!!!

and on another sad note, my best friend from second grade emailed me… her mom found out she had cancer not that long ago, too far along to do anything. she passed away yesterday. she joins a growing group of moms that were just too young… mine included!

kids are back in school, spring break is over… ahhhhh its soooo quiet here…

hugs all around!

Hope you enjoyed your trip to England, evilmthldy. Congratulations to the kidlings. Moving to Rhode Island, eh? Never been there. Been to several of the Eastern states, but not there. Best of luck to you all.

Thanks for the hug.

Anyone interested in going outside today to fly the kites or the RC aeroplane? I need to get out.

Yeah, it was ok… the older demon really earned his title… so I made sure my weekend was relaxing.

I’m glad it is rhode island… could have been kansas instead… but the navy housing is supposed to be better

I’ll fly kites or the rc with you! haven’t flown kites in a while… my dad has a couple of rc planes… I think he’s got hubby’s too, too difficult to move here. sounds like fun!

Well, now that I’m employeed again - drinks are on me!!!

Who wants water?? I can afford ice now, too!!

How’s everbody doin’??

Ooooooh, Washte! Ice, even!!!

Yippeeee! Tell us about the new job!
[looks around] Well, I’m still here, anyway, and I think todd33rpm might be as well…let’s see who else pokes their heads out from under all those soft blankies.

I’m here too!!! hubby’s home and we are making moving preparations… I could use a place to escape to when the moving stuff stresses me out. it’s a little warm for blankies… anyone wanna join me in the pool?

Woo Hoo Washte! Congrats on the job!

Can’t do the pool - too much sun (med sensitive) – so I’ll be just over here in the gazebo whipping up margaritas and fruit slushies.

ok, forget the pool… I’ll join you for the margaritas!

Welcome back to the ranks of the employed, Washte. BTW, love your new sig!

Our (now nearly) resident landscaper has put planters (rail and hanging) on our porch so my wife can enjoy the flowers without having to walk down the stairs. And now that it’s starting to warm up we can start airing out the house.

MMMMMMmmmmmmm! DeVena, I’d love a fruit slushy with a nice dose of amaretto.

[rummages in closet] Anone for chips and salsa? We have GOT to go shopping…

I’ve got lots of nacho cheese for the chips and salsa! And I’ve still got spare footie jammies for whomever wants 'em!

I have lots of salsa… need to use it up before we move. got some chilis and olives tooo!

Job is working with the city council’s housing department on the customer service complaints line. It is with a temp agency, but it is a job that’s ongoing and pays decent. Strange thing is the agency told me I’d be on reception desk… Now I get to listen to people moan at me all day. It’s not bad really.

Love to join ya in the pool evilmthldy. I can do the back stroke and sip on a daiquiri at the same time.

I’ve salsa in the fridge, too. Made it a while back, smelled it last night and still seems to be doing okay. Nuttin’ funky growing in it… yet.

And I have a big jar of home made bread-n-butter pickles, nice and cold. These are pretty spicy so will go well with the salsa.

I don’t.

Everytime I tell her that she’s meant to be a nice, peaceful Buddhist all I get is, “Yeah? Well, I ain’t reached enlightenment yet bub!” and POW!
