Thanks everyone for the congrats. It is good to be useful again.
More good news: another job interview next Friday for a real nursing job. Matron was impressed with my previous experience, so was shortlisted. Have received confirmation for my place in nursing school this September.
But the bestest news… I’ve got a puppy!!!

Casey loves sticks and balls. She’s a clever gal and has picked up fetch right quick - as well as a few other commands.

My parents are out of town, and I get to sleep in the big bed with them, so they don’t freak out. They’re so cuddly!

Thank you for the canine-sharing! I find dog-therapy to be really great when I’m feeling low.
Cute puppy, especially that second picture where he’s lying down and his eyes are turned up. I’m assuming the slightly scary glowing blue eyes in two of the pictures are just a trick of reflected light.
We’re expecting kittens any day now (well, actually our calico is expecting them). This will be her second litter; it’s highly likely that the father is one of her two sons from the first litter, since we’ve been pretty careful about not letting her outside after the first. Anybody want one?

Casey went to the vet and got her first set of puppy jabs… She needs hugs today too…
Nuttin’ beats doggy luv when you’re stressed or feeling down. Animals just make you feel so much better.
Good luck with the kittens Lurky. BTW, her eyes still have the blueish tinge of puppyhood, but are slowly changing. The reflected light is interesting.
Of the 4 photos, my favourite is the next to last (first head shot). It just shows off her character and ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude. Very cheeky she is

My good news doesn’t involve puppies, but it DOES involve babies: the radio station’s company controller just had her baby last night, a little girl. Still getting details, but it sounds like the family’s doing fine.
So we’re celebrating! Champagne for those who can have it, and cherry-cola floats for those who’d rather have those…

Kittens!!!
Got up this morning and our mother-to-be did not show up to help me dress as usual. A quick search found her in a closet with four kittens: one creamsickle, one black with orange streaks, and two white with some orange spots. Mama didn’t seem thrilled to have me bothering her, so I just checked to make sure everyone was breathing and told my wife about it before I left for work. I’ll probably call home in another hour or so to get a status report.

Kitten update: Mama has moved the kids to under the spare desk in the living room. I put a towel-lined box there, which she seems to find acceptable. At this point, I’m not even sure if they’re male or female, so I haven’t tried to name them. All they do is eat and sleep I wish I was a kitten.
Could I put in an early vote for naming one of 'em something pirate-y?
Actually, ArrrMatey, we already have a cat with a pirate-y name. We have a three-and-a-half-legged cat (got tangled in the cord at birth and the mother apparently chewed part of a hind leg off getting him loose) who walks with a wooden-legged-looking limp. He was originally named Long John Orange (he’s orange and white), which was later shortened to just Long John.
