That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

This is relaxing me just reading about it!

As for me, I’ll bring almond massage oil and lavender massage cream (I give a wicked rubdown), big soft chocolatey chippity cookies and whole milk in glass bottles (none of that skim crap tonight!), and while I’m there I’ll make my favorite comfort food - chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob with lots of butter and salt and mmm…

Bodypoet! You called me “darling!”

Todd displays “aw, shucks” look and bashfully toes the carpet

Here, I actually brought a 12-bottle case of the blueberry wine just for you (seeing as you’re hostessing and all), as a thank you for delivering papers in this weather (let’s just say several inches of snow fell last night). I also brought some mulling spices, as I suspect they’ll come in handy.

I am so, so into hand-knitted socks…thank you. The blueberry muffin supply is sprinkled with sugar, for the extra universal-momminess touch, and the macaroni and cheese is supremely gooey…here you go.

Plenty for everyone!

Oh, and I’m bringing another album…Bruce Kaphan’s Slider. Just heard it last night and wanted to share it while it’s hot. It’s a space music album built around a pedal steel guitar. When I hear it, I feel like I’m four years old again, standing outside and watching fireworks on the 4th of July. Hoping y’all will like it…

(Bruce Kaphan used to play in American Music Club, FYI.)

Thanks for throwing this shindig, Bodypoet! You’re one of the good ones!

TelcontarStorm, if you aren’t listening to your cd right now may I borrow it? John Denver fans are few and far between anymore and my favorite songs are Annies Song and the ever hard to find Aspen Glow.

Anybody have a couple of teenagers that might be able to watch the five heathens for me so that I can get a few more hours of comfy time?

I just want to curl up in a bean bag with a fuzzy blanket and slippers, get a nice big cup of hot chocolate with a touch of butter shots, and be able to get into book ten of the Wheel of Time series.
Had it for a few weeks now a can’t find enough time to get past the prologue.:frowning:

Hearing a magic word Washte unleashes her grip on the doggies on her lap and offers to run out to her truck for her collection of John Denver CDs. I have nearly everything he’s ever made Kricket  Was even lucky enough to see him in a very small concert just before he died

Hands Bodypoet a glass of blueberry wine from todd and carefully step around everyone and all the critters.

:ivylass washes off her buttery popcorn hands and picks up her knitting while she waits for the hot tub to heat up:

I’m making a pillow…what are you making?

I love this hot chocolate with the shot of Frangelico…

Washte…thanks for the assist on the blueberry wine. I’m whipping up a slow cooker full of ribs drenched in barbecue sauce, and handing out baguettes for one and all.

Now that I’m waiting for the ribs, I’m writing in my journal about all the wonderful SDMB homebodies I’m hanging out with today.

Todd the DJ cues up Bruce Cockburn’s song "Musical Friends"

“Musical friends are keeping me happy/they know what I need/
now I can sleep on anyone’s floor without feeling cold/
inside or outside me…”

After bringing in her John Denver CD’s, Washte sits down next to ivylass and watches her knit. Summat I’ve always wanted to learn and appreciate those who can.

You’re welcome Todd. Here, have a bicci

Ooh, I think the hot tub is about ready… Anyone up for a skinnydip???

enters the fray, toting her quilt, huge feather pillow, hot chocolate, diet coke, and a tray of her famous oatmeal/chocolate/caramel bars, guaranteed to add pounds just by looking at it
May I please join?
I won’t begin to tell you what these last two weeks have been like sigh

Anyone willing to massage my scalp/run their fingers through my hair? Or to snuggle whilst watching Princess Bride?

Come 'ere darlin. You can snuggle with me and the puppies

::Fluffs MissTake’s pillow for her::

I can braid your hair for you, MissTake, if you like.

Washte, I only started knitting a few years ago. It’s very easy to pick up, and you get such a sense of accomplishment when you finish.

We’ve got dopers; we’ve got a hot tub; who needs strippers?

Speaking of which, that should be just the thing for this crick in my neck.

:Miscellaneous splashing sounds:

A-a-a-ah!
CJ

I haven’t had time to stop and get anything to bring, so it will just be. I’m warm, fuzzy, and give good long hugs.

I’ll just cuddle up near those sick gals in the corner. Even sickies need attention. I’ll make sure no one bothers you should you drift into sleep.

Hot chocolate and popcorn for me.

Mmm… comfort food. How about some spicy hot and sour soup? I can make some in a jiffy… and it’ll be just the thing for those sick people over in that corner. It’ll clear up your sinuses really quickly. (but if you want wasabi, I have that too)

F_X

Yummy! WASABI !!! I can eat that stuff by the near teaspoonful. I love it.

Can I have some pwwwweeeessse Flami?

I share my puppies with ya

<sticks head in> You guys still over at Karols ??? Man, can she throw a party !!!

Riffles through Washtes John Denver CD’s Thanks for bringing those, Do you have a clue as to how long it has been since I heard Readjustment Blues ? You’re an Angel I tell you. You and Kricket are free to bring them in here where we won’t bother the movie.

Tylenol and NyQuil all around for the sickies who feel the need. Anyone want heating pads or BreathRights? You all relax and let us take care of you. You need a little ‘mommying’.

Well hell. The snow is knee deep out there, so we may as well just keep hanging out. Got plenty of wood for the fire, lots of puppies and kitties to cuddle, soft blankets galore, and who knows how much wine, margaritas, and hot chocolate. And I found my The Money Pit video, one of my favorites!

I’ve lined up my two older boys to babysit all the kids in the other room, so all you parents have no need to worry! They can keep a close eye on the littles, and we’ll just sit in here and keep that relaxing groove thing going.

Now, I’m going to make a nice comfy bed on the floor for my poor pooch, who hurt her leg today. She is in need of comfort too. Maybe she can lay over there by the other unwell folk.

And here! Look what I bought today–Koosh balls for everyone! And a few paint-by-numbers sets, too, since they were having a sale.

Now, who needs some foot work? I’m itching to try out my new reflexology routine. Guaranteed to be comforting, even for the ticklish of sole.

A foot rub and The Money Pit?! Karol, just give me minute to get out of the tub, set myself up next to the poor pooch and with a good view of the screen, and put my feet in your hands.

CJ

Hey, who wants to go jump on the mods’ beds???

Ooooh…I forgot to bring some of this nice wonderful sunshine we’ve been having. I wonder if it’ll fit in my overnight bag.

Can I go sit with the sickies? I’m not exactly sick but I’ve been trying to get adjusted to a new medication and I’m a little woozy and brain-swishy. No sudden movement for me.

Anybody want to use my aromatherapy pillow?
