That’s true. There doesn’t seem to be much of an upside for anyone, especially women, to pose for pictures of themselves. Although, if you’re a perfect 10 and are wearing a modest puppy-dog Christmas sweater you’re probably not putting yourself at much risk. Otherwise there’s a chance it’s going to wind up online forever and you never know when hundreds of assholes are going to post it on some discussion board and say awful things about you for 50 pages.

Heh. Here’s one. There was another thread, some years back (don’t remember if a female Doper started the thread or not), where folks were poking fun at an Asian guy, who looked like the unholy offspring of Liberace and the Vegas-era Elvis, seeking a wife on teh intarwebs. Neither of those threads went on for 60 pages, though.
She kind of struck me as being like that one woman from that one Seinfeld episode … the one that looked sorta’ okay from one angle, but see her from a different direction, and RUN AWAY!

Yeah! Except the bad direction is facing a crappy car, a dog, and a whole bunch of make up that seems to be applied to her face. She seems like a nice woman from her myspace page so I hope that she’s successful in avoiding being seen from that angle in the future.
I find stuff like “DO NOT WANT” and relevant images freaking hilarious, regardless of the subject. Yes, I’m shallow, but net memes crack me up easily.

Derision is a tool to help teach society how not to behave. Without it, we are all lost. At least that’s how I get myself to sleep at night.
What I find funny is not so much the girl herself, although, I am with most, that whatever she’s done to her face in those photos, is not helping her already below average looks. It’s really the whole, what was going through her and the photographer’s mind when taking these amateurish shots. Whatever it was, and whomever the real photographer is, I believe they were being sincere. That usually triggers my, “I can’t believe real people do this, then make it public” gland.
Then the over-reactions and juvenile responses took the cake. I was in tears.
You owe me a new set of eyeballs, as I was forced to gouge out my own upon seeing the, ah, damsel in question and her truly horrifying eyes. A lesser man would have simply closed the tab, but I wanted to maintain the moral high ground.

I’ll argue that wasn’t based on appearance only but also the hubris of his “qualifications” along with his appearance. I can’t tell since the original link to the studmuffin in question is broken.
Well, were one to be able to find photos of the guy, no doubt he’d be mocked for his appearance, no matter how good he looked.
With a 300 second delay between searches, I’m not going digging for it, as I’ve simply no idea what terms to plug in that wouldn’t result in me having to slog through hundreds of threads before I found the right one. IIRC, it was started sometime around '01 or '02.
That’s not his girlfriend. He stole those pictures and posted them on that MB to troll for exactly these kinds of responses. IOW, he’s incited a massive case of Internet harrassment that ultimately has no effect on him since he’s not actually connected to the girl at all. She’s apparently been pushed to contemplating suicide on her MySpace, and to top it all off, some people on the linked thread are claiming that they’ve had sex with her and she’s a “hoe”. (They don’t mention how they managed to have sex with a garden tool, but hey, every board needs an Autolycus or two.)
The pictures had a date from 2004 and the OP wrote “yes i’m strong fraudin” in the second or third post.

BTW, for the person who said that this isn’t indicative of what bodybuilder culture is like–I only read the first three or four pages, and almost all of the posts were from guys whose avatars were pictures of themselves all buff and ripped, and their signatures said stuff like “I SNORT MUSCLE MILK EVERY FIVE MINUTES BECAUSE I CAN NEVER BE TOO RIPPED”. I saw a lot of misogyny in those few pages.

That was me, and keep in mind I’m defending bodybuilding culture as a whole from broad strokes here, and not necessarily a small clan of morons on that one forum (even so, one could compare the number of active members of that forum vs the number of that forum’s members dogpiling in that thread, except that I honestly don’t care that much – feel free to stereotype bodybuilders all you want; I won’t argue beyond what I’ve already stated).
And in the interest of accuracy, she was never contemplating suicide
