The Big Bang Theory, Season 10, Episode 24 (May 11, 2017) -- "The Long Distance Dissonance "

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

I’m guessing there is some dissonance between The Shamy in this episode.

Well, the episode description says that Sheldon’s former groupie Ramona Nowitzki is returning. Will Sheldon be so lonely, living by himself for the first time in his life, that something surprising will go down? That would certainly cause some dissonance.

Mostly, the previous season finales on this show have not shown anything of what happens during the summer recess, although sometimes that’s addressed in the first episode of the new season.

WAG - Ramona comes back at the end of the episode, after boring stuff about living alone and all that rot. Cut to Season Premiere: Amy comes back, walks into her apartment and finds evidence of Ramona. Nobody is talking to anybody else because they all are aghast at what Sheldon is doing. Amy buys a shotgun and guns down the lot of them (except Penny, who she still crushes on). The rest of next season and the final season are A & P going all Thelma & Louise, with the same ending.

Hubby was watching either Entertainment Tonight or the one with “Edition” in the name last night and they showed coming attractions. I had to flee as they gave the whole episode away. I’m pretty miffed about it.

(speculation follows)
You don’t suppose they could be bringing Ramona back as a love interest for Raj, do you? With Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard working on their gyroscope for the past year, Raj could now be a star at Caltech, which feeds Ramona’s attraction to accomplished physicists. Raj would have no problem sharing credit with her, which keeps her around. And it sets up a conflict for Sheldon over the off season; having discovered that he enjoys a romantic relationship he’ll be the only one of the group without one.

or

Since her betrayal by Sheldon 9 years ago, Ramona has been harboring fantasies of a dark, elaborate revenge. She has bided her time, waiting until he is at his lowest and doesn’t have friends or a roommate around to protect him. With Amy out of town, she sees the chance to but her terrible plan into action.

I could see it going either way, really.
Why does nobody remember the controlling crazy this woman brought, it’s not like this is the first time she’s been around. All the characters seem to be acting like they’ve never met her before.

They all knew who she was. Also, is it me or does Amy look a lot cuter Skyping.

Actually Bernadette had never met her.

What they actually did, I thought was pretty good. I was wondering when they were going to circle back around to it, and this was good. Also, if next season ends with the wedding of Sheldon and Amy, then in retrospect, the whole series is really about Sheldon becoming a real boy.

I knew that ring was going to show up. I can’t see a credible story where Amy says no.

If we’re not spoiling anything … I did not expect the ring. Was he carrying it (and the box) in his pocket all this time? (or buy it at an airport gift shop?) I can’t imagine Amy saying “No”.

I thought Riki Lindhome (Ramona) and Sheldon would make a cute couple - I was kind of hoping for them to get together, for no other reason than to see Amy come totally unhinged (like silenus said).

I get that, it just seemed nobody acknowledged that history or acted on it. I suppose I could just write it off as a set-up to get Sheldon to propose and ignore the rest.

Duh. Sheldon went home and got it. They just didn’t show that part.

In case anyone isn’t aware, the actresses who played Ramona Nowitzki and Raj’s ex, Lucy, are a singing duo called Garfunkel and Oates. They composed the song that Howard sang to Bernadette on the anniversary of their first date. Here is a video of them performing a special version of it at ComicCon.

I liked this episode. It felt like one from an earlier season, and not just because of Riki Lindhome’s return as Ramona.

I loved this episode. The grammar sex was a riot, and Amy screeching, “You had one job!” had me on the floor. I also liked the part about hitting the ketchup bottle…lovely analogy.

So everyone is paired off but Raj. They need to address that.

Sheldon had the ring from before. He was going to propose to Amy before she broke up with him.

I was glad he flew to Princeton, but I did NOT expect the proposal.

I think Ramona looks better as a redhead. Blonde makes her look brittle.

I know this is a sitcom, but IRL, Ramona could be dismissed from the university for sexual harassment. Imagine if Bert had kissed Amy. I’m surprised Sheldon was friendly with her…she did try to get her name on his paper.

I think she’s lost some weight, and she looks more angular, and doesn’t have the goofiness that she started out with the first time she was on the show.

Loved the grammar sex too. “I just split an infinitive. I’m a baaaad girl.” I also love it that Amy likes being a bad girl, and apparently likes getting spanked.

Though Penny seemed a bit less familiar with Nowicki than I thought she’d be, but it’s natural that Leonard, Raj and Howard were affected more by Sheldon’s absence from their usual activities (Halo night, etc.) than Penny was.

The funniest thing about the grammar sex was that Sheldon wasn’t really aware that that’s what was going on. He was suspicious, but mostly he thought that they were really talking about grammar. Nobody does a long, suspicious take better than Jim Parsons.
