The Big Bang Theory, Season 9, Episode 7 (November 5, 2015) -- "The Spock Resonance"

Why would anyone want a threesome, with supermodels or otherwise?

Two episodes aired on Thursday. The 8pm first-run episode is the one being discussed here (“The Spock Resonance”), while a rerun episode was aired at 9:30pm (“The Communication Deterioration”).

You hate children??
Jesus man, get a grip.

The way I thought it was going to pan out - Sheldon left a message for Amy on her phone to watch the show. I thought Amy would’ve seen the stuff about the engagement ring on the show and found out that way. Still could happen.

Well, I guess I won’t be sharing the numbers I have for Carmen Kass or Heidi Klum then.

First, it was meant to be humorous based on the normal progression of threads about popular media where inevitably someone will chime in about how pathetic the show has become and they are well above the lowlifes who would dare to still consider it to be enjoyable. Kind of like how everyone posts “Worst Episode Ever” before it airs.

But, because you hate children? If you hate goldfish and suddenly a show that you enjoy introduced a character had a pet goldfish, and lets say that they mentioned this in 10% of the dialog you would stop watching it on that, even though the other 90% had nothing to do with goldfish and was still enjoyable?

I hate Brussels sprouts but can easily push them to the side and enjoy the rest of the meal.

This is a tangent but I noticed in the NY/NJ area next week CBS is airing the Jets on Thursday. Anyone know when BBT is airing in our area? I expected them to air it late that night but my DVR has no listing.

How did The Big Bang Theory become the show that causes childless people to just lose their minds whenever they talk about kids?

It wasn’t shown live… he wanted her to come to the taping (and laugh hysterically).

Not childless here, but I would not want to see pregnancy incorporated into the show. Unless they’re able to come up with a new, never-been-done-before approach to the story - pregnancy and birth stories have been in sitcoms forever and they’re just inane and predictable. Plus they lead to far too many Very Special Episodes. No thanks.

Anyway, Howard is enough of a child - the show doesn’t need another.

He does, doesn’t he? I was surprised he wasn’t tall like his father, though.

I think Lorre and Prady deserve some credit… it can’t be easy to produce
a television series (working on it’s 9th season) where each and every episode is worse than all the previous episodes.

Speaking from personal experience, hour-long TV documentaries take a minimum of four months to produce (about 2 1/2 months from the completion of principal photography). So you can expect this storyline to continue pretty much through the rest of the season. Amy will probably watch the show sometime in April.

Sheldon would keep the napkin sealed in a plastic bag like his comic books. The DNA issue makes this even more important.

And he would really have an issue with the couch after Leonard and Penny had … used it.

Raj was on the sidelines.

Amy was barely on the show, again. Usually when a character falls off to basically nothing either: 1. The producers are tired of the actor or the character and the end is nigh. Or 2. They are waiting to bring the character back in a major way and want to have built up a balance of screen time for the other actors first so they don’t get peeved.

The part with Leonard and Penny sniping during the filming was the funniest. But also unrealistic. First, they would be told to STFU at first comment. They sent out of the room at the second. No camera swinging around to nicely catch their comments.

Amy may find out about the engagement ring, but I doubt the documentary will come up again.

No “may.” “Will.” Penny won’t be able to keep her mouth shut, so Bernadette and Howard will know by the next day. That means everybody but Amy will know by the weekend. The only question is which one of them is going to spill the beans and under what circumstances.

Penny will be able to keep the secret from Amy up to the precise moment Penny next talks to Amy.

^^^ This. ^^^

^^^ Not this. ^^^

I’m on six weeks of FMLA leave for a hip replacement, so the change hasn’t affected me yet, but when I go back to work at the end of the month, this is going to be a HUGE inconvenience.

Well, it’s going to be a minor inconvenience, but the fact that it’s happening to ME makes it huge.

Why can’t they just move their stupid Thursday Night Football games to Mondays?

Or better yet, to Sundays?

Maybe. But I’m willing to bet that scene with the ring was the whole reason for having them film a documentary.

I think having Sheldon interact with Adam Nimoy (who really is producing a documentary) would have been reason enough to have that plotline in an episode, with or without the engagement ring.

Sure. And the IRL Wil Wheaton might have been the go-between to put Adam in contact with Chuck Lorre or vice versa.

I think Amy is still friends with Penny and Bernadette. So, Amy’s ignorance about the ring will last no longer than the next girl’s night. It might last as briefly as until the next text or phone call. I think Penny would be more likely to tell her than Bernadette. I think Penny feels more protective of Sheldon than Bernie does.
