It’s supposed to get up close to 50 today. It’s a sunny 38 degrees now.
We’re getting ready to head out for the college bookstore now, his Astronomy text book finally came in, and we found out the optional calculator for his math class is only 16.95 so he will get that too. I don’t know why I thought it would be in the $100’s or more. It’s the one the school provides for tests, so it’ll be better if he is familiar with it before he has to take a test.
Much to do around here - and I’m just feeling lazy again today.
Errands have been run and I’ve managed to cut my mom’s hair without bloodshed, so there’s that. We’re going out for good Chinese tonight. Beyond that, no plans. I’m glad I brought my laptop. Not only can we both be on line at once, but I have all my passwords and such, so I don’t have to remember! Yay for not remembering… um… you know what I mean…
Howdy Y’all! OYKW got back right at three o’clock this afternoon so I’ve been busy welcomin’ him home. He’s out swipin’ the General’s dindin. I had planned on chikin nachos but he got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ so the General’s dindin we shall consume.
Today has been a bit of a wasted day.
I didn’t get much done. I think I need to call the doctor about how tired I am. Even after I get a good night’s sleep, I’m falling asleep in the afternoon.
Totally annoyed at aarp.
I got a letter from them today thanking me for joining and an invoice for my membership fee.
What assholes!
Home from dinner at OK Chinese place. I got Mango shrimp and the mango was not ripe, so it was disappointing. We’re watching Moonstruck. Lazy evening ahead…
I saw a cool key ring that at $15.00 keeps them flat and takes up less room in the pocket. In Googling shopping, I found one very much like it for $12.00. Just before I bought it, I realized that it was made in China. For once I put my money where my mouth is, and bought the $15.00 USA product.
Daylight shift went well, twilight shift went ------ somewhere. I can see why they wanted some specialized help. A lot of really odd sized boxes made for some interesting pallet building. Fortunately there were enough of us there old enough to remember Tetras.
I hate watching TV or movies with my mother. Anything in the dialog or storyline that isn’t “wholesome” like a squeaky-clean 50s era sitcom elicits comments of disgust and judgement. Anyone who has big hair is a special target of derision, and heaven help anyone who says anything stronger than “shucks” or “darn”…
Altho we did agree that the movie The Fantasticks is pretty awful. We turned it off after about 30 minutes.
The pharmacy once screwed up Mama Plant’s thyroid prescription, and she began seeing snakes under chairs, a classic symptom. She saw no wolves. I am surprised that she knew what was going on, and sent me to the pharmacy.
More or less like clockwork, DH goes in hospital tomorrow for fresh blood as his hemoglobin is AWOL. Seems to be a very fine line the oncos walk between killing tumors and killing the person.
I cannot adequately describe my commute home without language that would get me a mod hammer in the Pit. Teenage idiot brawlers on the train, lazy ghetto slugs for “neighbors”, and DH seems to have shut off his brain when it came to laundry (this last discovered while I was still fuming from items 1 and 2).
Wow - I slept till after 5!! And I’m pretty sure I was asleep before 10, so yay!
The only thing I absolutely have to do today is take Mom to Mass at 4. I’m also going to crawl under her desk and contain the spaghetti that is the tangle of wires for her computer, router, printer, lamp, and whatever. I’ve got to add a little to an afghan, and once I figure out what I want to do, it should go fast. Beyond that, who knows what the day will bring…
Oh yeah, and I have to refill the bird feeder.
I’m glad I brought my electric mattress pad with me. Mom keep the house really cool. I turn it on fairly early so by bed time, I have a warm place for my frosty toes (yes, I wear shoes and socks in the house, but it doesn’t seem to matter.) The heat in the house is hot water base board radiators, and they’re not all that impressive. Her firewood is just for if the power goes out, so she can have some heat.
One good bit of news (did I post this already?) my youngest sister has said that when Mom can no longer handle this place herself, she’d move back in, and rent her place out in the interim. So unless she has to go to a nursing home, she’ll be able to stay put. That’s kinda reassuring, certainly for Mom. And for us, knowing she’s not going to be in the big empty place in the boonies with no one around if she gets hurt.
