Rosie, considering that I’d only had a few sips of coffee when I was writing that, it’s a wonder that it was even coherent!
Just ducking in briefly before I attempt to catch tonight’s “Top Chef” episode, with Jimmy Fallon. Glad tomorrow is Thursday (although t’would be better if it were Firday!). I still haven’t had my celebratory brat(wurst) yet!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on a chilly rainy day. YAWN I yanked some beast stew out of da freezer for tonight’s dindin as with this weather it’s definitely a stew kinda day.
Coyote the cuteness, it burns!
Hope everybody who’s sick or otherwise ick is all better.
I refuse to wish a happy burfday to people who are almost three years younger than I am
Oh, ok…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOGGIO
I’ve mentioned before that I work in a building which would have been very ecological and made lots of sense in Vigo or Nottingham; not so much in sunny Seville. At one point they finally installed curtains - now they are in the process of changing the controls, so that what used to be small groups of two-three, all set at the same orientation, is now becoming huge groupings which may not even all look in the same direction; welcome back, sun-blindness! One of my coworkers asked the maintenance guy whether there’s anything we can do to stop this insanity and he said to file a complaint through the suggestions system. She’s asking everybody to file one as well, since we know that one person complaining will get a politely-phrased “tuff luck” but a few hundred will get results.
You’d think there aren’t Spanish architects, that they had to give the job to an English firm whose designers have apparently no idea what the climate here is like. Plus a Spanish architect would (if he had any experience) have used bathroom doors with non-see-through glass: the current all-steel monsters are “approach it at your peril”, because you can’t tell whether there is someone on the other side. Fragile, too: half the doors don’t work well any more and this building is barely one year old. Did they think everybody would be using the lifts and Depends, instead of the stairs and going to the bathroom?

[li]No phone, no Intartoobz. Verizoff is #1 on my shit list right now. Bastiges even robocalled VWife at the main lair yestiday. “Your service has been on for 10 days, but you haven’t activated your Internet accounts. Is there any way we can be of assistance?” [/li]
[li]Partial heat. The furnace guy came last night. He got the heat pump started, and cleaned the oil furnace. The furnace stack, however, is bad, and needs immediate replacement. A task I could do, but why do it if it’s the landlord’s responsibility? I awoke to 60 Amurrkin today, which was quite balmy compared to yesterday’s 48.[/li]
[li]The pull chain in the terlet broke last night. I’m gonna fix that and tell the landlord after the fact. It may cost me $2.95 in parts and ten minutes of my time.[/li]
[li]The Migration is scheduled. Pack on the 21st, load the 22nd, and unload on the 24th.[/li]
[li]I found an intact possum spine with ribcage and tail in the yard last night. Made me homesick for Cottonfield County.[/li][/ul]
I awoke to an inch of snow on the ground today. It kind of surprised me, because it came earlier than I thought it would.
Okay, first up, {{{{{{{Doggio}}}}}}}; sympathies to your friend’s family. Then …
HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY DOGGIO!!!
I am up and already at work but only partially caffeinated. Any mis-cues on my part are due to the partial caffeination, I swear! BBBBBobbio, I’m sticking pins in my voodoo Verizon doll as I type…sending sympathetic thoughts to you as well as hopes that all the problems with the Annex will get sorted out soonest.
We’ve been trying the lowered sugar instant oatmeal–some flavors are okay but others are lacking, which is why I got the assorted flavors package. Maple and brown sugar has zero flavor, unfortunately. Quaker also has a weight control version. I never can remember which one diabetics are supposed to purchase! Gah, I think it’s the weight control one. There weren’t any assorted flavors packages of that.
At least it’s Thursday and one day closer to the weekend. Happy Thursday all!
Thursday, at last. I will be so glad when Friday gets here, I am sure this week is far longer than the last one was. I’ve actually had quite a good week as far as work is concerned, been busy but that is a good thing.
I’ve been talking to my friend about Simon, the comatose stepson, and he is still in a bad way. There has been virtually no improvement in his condition and it’s been nearly two months now. She is feeling the strain and it’s having a serious effect on her marriage, and she’s only been married since last August.
I’m running out of advice for her since they seem unable to discuss their problems and possible solutions without it turning into an argument. Ho hum. Sometimes I just want to give her husband a slap with a wet fish…
Greetings from Delightful Downtown Dawson! Ok, I’m actually about two blocks from downtown but closer than y’all are. So There!
BBBobbio just what is Verizoff’s major malfunction? I think we need BooFae and her pointy stick to make 'em do their job. They should feel the might of the pointy stick! That’d learn 'em!
‘Tis a definite south Jawja winter’s day. Cold, gloomy and gray. At least there’s no snow or ice. There’s almost an inch of snow in Ye Olde Hometowne accordin’ to TWC and sis. Glad I’m not there right now cause I hates snow.
Freezing here. This is getting old. It was 23° this morning. Brr…
I’m home, coughing my head off. At least if I fart no one will hear me today. I had to work late last night to get our report finished. My boss told me to go home, but my team needed me. I kept apologizing to them and hoping I didn’t make them sick too. When I got home, I took my temperature. 101.4° I took some nyquil, and some codeine, and slept pretty well. My ribs are soooo sore from coughing!
They suck muchly. They have terrible customer service and they seem to keep no records on said customers because every time you call you have to go through the same crap. And they charge you when you don’t even have service.
I don’t know… as I posted previously, when I used them in soup, it had a distinctly vomit-like appearance. I’d avoid them in casseroles.
I turned my pork into Cuban sandwiches last night. It’s one of KT’s favorite things so it went over well.
FCM, I know you do some charity knitting. Do you send blankets to Project Linus? I’m thinking of getting involved and wanted to know if you are, what do you think? How restrictive are their rules?
Oh and BooFae, your friend probably really just wants a listening ear. Just provide sympathy on Simon and her idiot husband.
