I have been to the grocery sto’. You may all now rest easy.
I have also had N.O.L., made a ’ nanner puddin’, and made up a N.O.T. casserole, both for tomorrow’s dindin. JDD and Partner are comin’ to hang at the cee-mint pond tomorrow afternoon and are bringin’ steaks to grill as well. So we’ll chillax at the cee-mint pond and then have a nice dindin. We have not done this in a while so it will be fun.
Anywho, I say I have been productive enough for one day. ‘Tis horridly hawt out so the rest of the day is devoted to chillaxin’. OYKW called and said he has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for Krystal so he’ll bring little gut bombers and fries for dindin. Fine by me.
97° actual temperature. Heat index = 115°, and we still have another 3+ hours of heating up before there’s any chance of rain to cool off. My meteorologist friend says that the technical name for this weather pattern is “Dear God, bring me another margarita!”
Waiting for my dad to bring Tony home - shoulder surgery this morning, was in the recovery room by ten. Doc said this ought to be the final bit for the shoulders. Got an ice machine/pressure thing that is supposed to help with healing, and already have a giant bag of ice on standby.
Bought groceries. We may eat cereal for dinner, though, considering the heat! Cement pond sounds good, but not possible today. Maybe I’ll play in the sprinkler with the little monkey butts!
spidey, some of us can appreciate the more subtle side of garlic.
Peaches, have fun in the sprinkler!
I’m gonna be here all day, I think.
In the midst of all of the other crap on my desk, the boss has called me in for my six month review. I thought I had at least until Wednesday.
Interesting encounter in the printer room just now. A guy who works here but who I don’t know was entering as I was exiting. He stepped aside and said “Excuse me, sweetheart!”
Had I been quicker, I could have come back with something like “Not a problem, sugar drawers!” But it caught me off-guard. Especially since most folks here call me “ma’am” if they don’t know me.
Down to my last hour. Why isn’t this day over?!?!?!
I seem to recall someone who was trying soooo hard to get a certain job because the one she had was boring…hmmm, who was that again??

Peaches, the weather underground site says it’s 92F here and feels like 99F. I think I’m going to take their word on it and stay inside.
Washing my travel clothes (the ones I sprayed with insect repellant) today. Rest of the laundry goes in the washer/dryer on Sunday. Still haven’t hoovered the house yet, but I’m working up to it.
If swampy keeps talking about Ice Cream, I may have to go out and get some myself (Chocolate and/or Butter Pecan).
I was tres late to irk today. First I got up a bit early & was being very domestic. Dryed a load of laundry & folded & put away MANY shirts (including those previously laundered & just put on hangers), vacuumed the stairs & foyer area, & even refilled the liquid soap dispenser. Of course all of this made me a bit late for irk.
Then I stopped to check out the new shady parking spot by the expressway exit ramp. See, iffn one continues at highway speeds instead of slowing down to exit ramp speeds ones car continues to go straight despite the ramp turning to the right. Then, when your car finally does turn to the right because the tires are on grass instead of asphalt they turn the car 180°…oh, BTW, since the tires are now going sideways is soft grass instead of hard concrete / asphalt they tend to dig in. All of this results in you getting a nice shady spot under the leafy green cover & up near the tree trunk. Bonus shady points for resting the minivan on the driver’s side so that no sun can come in the driver’s side windows.
She wasn’t hurt but couldn’t get out of her car as its hard to open one’s door when the hinge opens down into the dirt so a vehicle rescue was called. I grabbed my old bambilance turncoat outta the back of my car. It’s amazing the professional courtesy the right attire gets you when the local fire chief shows up.
With comments like that, you want to leave town/country/continent/hemisphere for a while. Just sayin’!
Oooh! Butter pecan! And send me a cone, please!
Weather Underground tells me it’s now 101°, and feels like 117. Considering clearing out the big freezer so I can go hide in it.
I detest agreeing with bugman, but you Flirt With Death.
Not that I am complaining about your Ultimate Fate.
My old job *was *boring. This one, less so. But for some reason, the space-time continuum is all borked up along this little section of Great Mills Road. It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced a week that was easily 12 days long, and each day was at least 37 hours.
I’m thinking when my sweetie and I are done with our money guy, we’ll stop somewhere for supper, because we can!
The truck is washed and straightened, I dropped a bunch more stuff off at Goodwill(shedding possions is cathartic), and picked up a couple of Hawaiian shirts at Kohls. I’m cleaning the kitchen before cocktails.
Sadly, THE LIST is international. Good job helping the lady.
Peaches, hope the hubby heals up quick.
Howdy Y’all! I completed my last task of the day, goin’ over to the church house for ice and icin’ down beer, water, and soft drinks for tomorrow. The biiiiiig cooler is now in a shady spot on the back porch which is not all that cool bein’ as 'tis 98 Amurkin out with a heat index of a hunnert and six. ICK! Also Krystal gut bombers and wings have been ingested. All is good.
Home, having had a mostly successful meeting with out money guy followed by supper at Red Robin. Partway thru our appointment, he had to take a call from his wife - the son of good friends of theirs died as a result of an auto accident. He’d been to the hospital and they sent him home - next morning, he dropped dead in the shower - 22 years old…
Anyway, Dave had to take a few minutes to process that before we continued. We offered to come back another time, but he finished what we needed to do.
I have no idea who the young man was, but the circumstances were so sad, and he was so young. Maybe that’s why we asked him for recommendations for an estate lawyer - which we got. Time to get our butts in gear and do wills.
For now, we’re home and I’m about to strip down to my robe and go into veg mode. Ice cream later.
I can haz good sleeps tonight?
Bad news: power is out.
Good news: the storm that knocked out power dropped the temperature 25 degrees before we lost electricity.
More good news: the EMC has already assigned a repair crew to fix whatever broke right here. (Probably a tree down across a line. Gotta wait for the lightning to pass before the linemen can work, but it should be pretty quick.)
Kind of amazing stuff, when I stop to think about it: I can just pull up a website from our dinky little electric cooperative, and see where the power is out, whether workmen have been assigned, etc.
Cocktail time. Martinis tonight.
Moooommmmm!, my estate consists of a 20 year old Jeep, a 60lbs Jack Russell Terror, 20 hockey jerseys, and a couch which may contain up to $3.47 in loose change.
Howdy from Eatonton, GA. I slept well at my sister’s house. Dilly dallied around a couple hours and hit the road. Still can’t make my maps app work so winged it. Probably was a closer route but weren’t a bad drive. I surprised my son. He cried. The same storm that affected Peaches rolled in here and for a few I thought I was going to Kansas in a tornado. No power loss. Was a very fast moving storm.
We just had burgers and fries and the plan is an early morning fishing trip. His Girlfriend ordered a cake for his BD. My baby will be 37 tomorrow. Where does the time go.
Stay cool everyone.
I got nothing much. Took a bunch o’ books to the library. I think I’ve got about a 90% discard ratio going.
Girl child is at library with friends. Boy is playing Minecraft in the living room with friends. I am trying to convince myself that I must actually go to the sto’ and buy cat food or I will get eaten, but I am not sure I care. I’s tahred.
Peaches good luck with the power.
As a matter of fact, I am leaving all four of those places…
I laugh at danger (well, chuckle occasionally).
FCM, sad news about the young man. If I had to guess, he had a blood clot as a result of the accident that broke loose and went to his heart. Tragic way to lose someone you thought was doing well.
Peaches and Butters, glad the storm wasn’t anymore severe than that…hope the power is back on soon.
Figured the power would be back by now. Dang it, I am hungry! (And we are just barely too far out of town for delivery. And the big kids are gone, so I don’t have a “babysitter” for Tony so that I can go pick up something or send The Boy.) Oh well. Soon I hope.
And cool! Butters’ sister lives in Br’er Rabbit’s home town! There’s your useless piece of trivia for the day! Glad y’all didn’t wash away. (And looking at the reports further east of me, we got off lightly compared to coastal areas.
