You have to sleep, sometime. :dubious:
Dusting and vacuuming are done.
There’s a concept in the stereo and home theater business that used to be called Wife Acceptance Factor, but in this somewhat more enlightened time it’s called Spouse or Partner Acceptance Factor. The general idea is that while you may like surround sound with seven refrigerator sized speakers around the room, your SO may be less enthusiastic, and they may prefer smaller speakers, fewer speakers, or say things like “well, if we have to have that, it has to stay in that corner.” Now that there’s just me and a dog in the house, I can de-compromise the entertainment system. Furniture has been moved, speakers relocated and I even did a “bass crawl” to find a better location for the subwoofer. Sounds really good now!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled.
Happy Fathers Day!!!
(although if Gordie leaves me a “present”, I’m beating him. )
I need to go get cleaned up so I can deheathenize this morning. I’m going to early church, so I have a longer stretch of day after. I’ll be in very early to work tomorrow since some @#$%^&* group wants an event at 7:30 AM. On a Monday. Grrrr. It’s a big group too. Double grrrrr.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 71 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 87 for the day and sunny. Not too shabby as weather goes. Today’s plans include deheathenization, N.O.L. which shall be ham steaks, green beans, N.O.T. casserole leftover from yestiddy, and rolls. Nappage may also ensue.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence at some point.
Happy Sunday Y’'all!
Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers!
I can’t believe it - Ziva woke me at 5:30 scratching on the door. I thought it was Higgs. But I got up and tended to Higgs, then assumed the position on the recliner, soon joined by Taz and Higgs. We slept (mostly) till about 7:30. It was a challenge, tho - the afghan smelled like stale eggroll. ick. It has been flung down the basement stairs for laundering.
I was going to take **FCD **out for breakfast, but I forgot it’s Father’s Day - maybe it won’t be as stupid crowded as Mother’s Day was, but it’s hard to tell. Not that it’s an issue at the moment, since he’s sleeping still. Lucky duck.
I want to put the furniture back in place, but I can’t till I run the vacuum and I won’t do that while my sweetie is sleeping. So here I am. How’s that for an excuse not to work?
Happy Sunday and (as applicable) Happy Father’s Day! I don’t think we have many fathers as Mumpers, do we?
Happy Sunday!
Happy Father’s Day!
It’s sunny and warm outside, supposed to get up to 88 today, which will make it sunny and hot.
Sometime before it gets too hot, Sah-son needs to mow the lawn. The clothes I just put in the dryer should be done by then, so I can be presentable to go out with him.
Sunny - I just ordered one of those plug in things for the cat. We’ll see how it goes.
Red - I looked up his records, unfortunately they don’t say when he was neutered. They waived the $40 neutering fee, but for all I know they charge that as a standard fee.

I an understand not wanting to leave the area you call home.
Lower cost of living is why I moved out here. I couldn’t live on my salary in the armpit.
I miss the old farmhouse I lived in in Baltimore, I loved that house, the minute I walked into it I thought this is home. But the neighborhood was getting too bad, and after I went toe to toe with a big time Jamaican drug dealer, it was time for me to get out before I got shot.
Sometimes I dream that I still live there, and I always wake up sad because I really loved that house.
Happy Father’s day!
(and Moooom, we have 2gig and bobbio, as well as some others who are dads)
Up and caffeinating. I did finish packing the china last night. Da niece will likely be down sometime today to pick it up (her hubs and FIL went on a fishing trip together to celebrate, so there’s no big doings at her house).
Early this afternoon, I’ll put on a pot of Tom Khaa soup, a pot of rice and make some crab Rangoon. Gotta feed the crew!
Holy crap, was that an expensive breakfast buffet!!! $40, including tip, and we didn’t drink anything stronger than a soda! It was good, but I don’t think it was *that *good. But we didn’t have to wait, and they had some really good shrimp - I think they cooked them with tarragon, which added an interesting twist.
After stopping at Food Lion for milk (and a few other items that brought the total to $33  ) we came home and put the house back together. I ran the vacuum cleaner to get any residual hair up and **FCD **put the chairs and throw rugs back in place. I’ve got a small load in the washer, including the stinky afghan, and they’ll go on the line shortly. I don’t think mowage will happen today, but I will tidy the kitchen.
For now, brief chillage. Very soon we’ll have to close up the house and turn on the A/C, dammit. Stoopit summer.
The sprog is on his way to a fun-filled week at scout camp.
We’ve got all of the required paperirk done for the mortgage company, so I can stop spazzing about it. All we’re waiting on for that is the appraisal.
Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, and all people who act like fathers.
I’m making pork loin for dinner because it’s what we have and while I will have go to the sto’ for lunch food, I don’t feel like doing that now. I will have to make do with leftovers.
Naptime, then sorting through the basement. Gotta get into packing mode.
{{{{{rosie}}}}} I understand completely. We’re only moving a mile from where I am now, but we’ve lived in this house for almost 14 years. It’ll be hard to lock the door for the last time when we move.
My hardest move was probably the one from suburban Los Angeles, where I grew up and where most of my family lived, to Texas, where I knew no one, everyone talked funny, and I felt like a fish out of water.
I hate moving.
Today has turned into Clean the Stately Turret Day. I didn’t think it was *that *filthy until I started sweeping. I may get some writing done, or I may not. Probably not. I’m revising a scene in my head so I can get out of the corner I wrote myself into before my Week Off Due To Grrrrr.
Mooom, $40 for breakfast?!?!:eek::eek::eek: What was it, served on gold plates?
Happy Father’s Day for those who partake.
I’m trying to look at the positives. Like, once the SSA gets its shit together and gives me my money, I’ll actually be able to save some, and in two or three years, I can move back here. But that’s all I’ve got right now.
The negatives are still winning
I didn’t look at the itemized check when I gave her my VISA, since we had to pay anyway, but I’m guessing the buffet was probably around $15 each. Add 2 sodas, tax, and tip, and there ya go!
To be fair, they did have an amazingly good seafood quiche, a ham-n-broccoli quiche, a couple other egg dishes, home fries, sausages, bacon, biscuits and gravy, shrimp, ham, and some pastries. And fruit, and maybe some other things I don’t remember, but quite a few pricey items on the buffet. I wish we’d asked to see their normal breakfast menu so we could decide if we’ll go back. Maybe it’s available on line…
**FCD **is sleeping. Our daughter called while he was in bed, and she’s on her way to work at Mouseland till 11, so she won’t be able to speak to him today. I told her to at least post on FB, and maybe call him tomorrow. He’ll be disappointed that he missed her but I made the executive decision that he needed sleep.
I need to quit being lazy and clean the kitchen. ugh.
I hope I didn’t screw up my dishwasher.
Yesterday I accidentally put stove top cleaner into the jet dry dispenser. I used a bunch of paper towels to wipe it out and soak up as much as I could. Now I have an orange film all over the inside of the dishwasher. I’m washing again with no soap.
Just what I need, more bullshit in my life.
Howdy Y’all! Today we have achieved deheathenization, N.O.L., and nappage. I say that’s enough activity for one day. Now it’s chillage for the rest the day. I also got staked marinatin’ for tomorrow night which is men’s night over to the church house.
Hope all you father’s have had a good day.
Swampy has been staked and he’s marinating.
Sounds Ominous, and painful.
The afghans are in off the lines, smelling much nicer than they did this morning. Supper will be tuna steaks, N.O.T.-n-onions fried up together, and something green - maybe green beans? And ice cream after.
I bought some cherries when I stopped for milk. VERY YUM!!! I need to remember to take some with me tomorrow. And I finally got the kitchen more or less tidied. Much too short a weekend here…
Blurf.
Mowed about 2/3 of the lawn this morning and then took myself to Olive Garden for a “Grumpy Old Uncle Day” dinner, the combination of which led to a 3-hour nap. After wandering about the Straight Dope for a bit, I’ll complete mowage and also do my remaining laundry.
I have checked in on-line and set up a cab pickup for tomorrow, and remembered to take my malaria pills, so I guess I’m ready to go…still have to pack, that is tomorrow mornings’ chore. Flight isn’t until 2:15PM, so I’ll be around in the am to help get the new MMP thread off to a good start (well, a start anyway…)
I am slowly doing laundry and continuing the great pack/sort/trash extravaganza.
Throwing/donating feels awesome. Mentally I mean. Physically I am exhausted. Moving is hard.
{{{rosie}}} Hugs. Leaving home sucks. My thoughts are with you.
That’s all for now. Sloth break over. Back to the salt mine.
