This is terrible news! he has been in such fragile health to begin with.
Morning all. Up early and all the trash is out and the bags replaced so I can start making more trash. May make myself presentable and do the little shopping I have early. Heading for 83F today so we’ll see if the AC gets a workout or not.
boofae, Saturday dinner sounds nice, hope you are sober enough to make it…
Keep feeling better, swampy.
Becks, sorry to hear about dropzone, hope he comes through it alright. Considering the number of posters here at the Straight Dope, it isn’t surprising that some of us will face the COVID-19.
Watching the Lake Shore Limited at rainy Elkhart, In on Virtual Railfan…so as it leaves and I send this, I’ll head for Krogers. Take care all.
While the household was asleep, I ran to Food Lion and the Amish market. Scored some local strawberries that smell amazing, but they better be for $5/qt! I also got some vinca - not sure if I’ll plant it in the pots or on the hill. Or somewhere else. Decisions, decisions…
I pulled a poke roast out of the freezer - I’ll rotiss it for supper, along with fresh green beans-n-'shrooms-n-onions. And maybe I’ll bake a few russets.
The sun has come out and it’s not hit 60 yet, but it will soon. I’ll make it outside eventually.
It sounds like it’s another {{anyone that wants one}} day.
I know what you mean Shoe. I was sitting outside in the sun for a bit last week, after hanging out the washing, and some kitty I’ve not seen before suddenly appeared, meowed at me and ran up for attention, and I realised that’s the first contact I’ve had with a living thing that wasn’t a plant or a bug I’d had in weeks. I’m not the most sociable and huggy up people, but there’s a limit, y’know?
Anyway, the Big Project hath been submitted. Now I think I might go out for a bit of a walk, as it’s sunny and pleasant outside.
**FCD **just video-called me. He’s in a room and he said they should discharge him on Monday - no rehab facility, so yay! If that schedule holds, I’ll drive up to Mom’s on Sunday, and claim him on Monday. Fingers crossed!!
And huzzah for technology! If I can’t visit him, at least we can see each other. He even got to see Roxy.
My mouse has a crack in the cord. Also, my MacBook Pro doesn’t have a USB port so I have to use an adapter to plug it in. (It’s a multiport adapter, so it’s a little big.) Yesterday I received a rechargeable wireless mouse in the mail, along with an Apple USB-C to USB single port adapter. I’m not thrilled with the shape of the mouse. It’s low-profile, so it doesn’t have the traditional palm hump on the back. So far though, it’s working well.
Do we know how bad it is?
What wonderful, wonderful news about FCD! That made me smile real big!![]()
Rehab facility was most likely cancelled because of the chance it could turn into a COVID swamp. Hopefully his discharge orders will include activity schedule and exercises. Ask about a video PT schedule!
And I hereby aapoint Miss Roxie his rehab specialist! Walks with Grampa mandatory!

Looks like it’s a documentary, not a book:
Also, you haven’t heard of Chuck Tingle? He’s a treasure - he started apparently with gay dinosaur/man porn, but his titles are often commentary
Spoilered, because they’re all nsfw!

Happy Thorsday!
It’s a cloudy 63 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 72.
Lily came by for a playdate this morning. Usually her mom irks M-Th, but she got Thorsday off this week.
What I don’t understand is, how did Echo know. I did everything this morning like I do on the days Lily isn’t coming. I stayed in bed for a while, no alarm, didn’t change into clothes, my lazy morning routine.
Echo was going crazy, bouncing on and off the bed, whining, trying to get my to hurry up and get downstairs.
She knew, I don’t know how, but she knew.
I should do some irk in the yard today, but I doubt I will.
I have a few phone calls to make.
My son has most of his last paper done, so will be doing some proofreading.
Yesterday I went upstairs while he was listening to the concert, I can only take Jazz in small doses. Too many horns.
Sari, Lily and Echo got along OK today? Good that the dogs don’t have to practice social distancing.
FCM, good news on FCD, no rehab visit may mean things went better than expected–and like Vow said, it’ll lessen the chance of COVID-19 contamination.
Zyada, (and BTW welcome, stick around awhile, we’ll come up with a MMP name for you), I’d heard of Chuck Tingle, never read anything by ‘him’ (I suspect there are several writers all under that pseudonym). Looking at his Wikipedia page, apparently he started out in “Dinosaur Porn…!!!”
Humans is weird.
Alabama is slowly coming back on-line, I just made an appointment at Great Clips, they were showing an 81 minute wait time, so I’ll look to be there about noon. Hair isn’t real bad but it’s been damn near 4 months so it needs some work. Mask will be worn, of course.
BLT’s have been prepared and consumed, and Cook’s has checked the termite traps, so all is right with the world.
Everyone take care now.
Afternoon. Gordie has apparently taken crazy pills this morning.
Yay! But saved the clain ticket, right?
ESP(Extra Sensory Pup-sention)
I saw on fb that thins are starting to open up here.
I am so hoping the dog park is on the list.
I’m waiting for a call back from the city.
It’s funny that car washes are on the list, the car washes around here have been busy, and I don’t know why they would have to shut down anyway.
People are usually pretty spread out there already.
Lily and Echo got along very well today MetalMouse.
I’m surprised Ripple didn’t go after Echo though, she grabed him by the scruff, dragged him backwards, and flipped him over.
Echo is strong.
Ripple takes it though, like it doesn’t even bother him.
Lily’s mom was telling me that her ex came by, and Lily loves her ‘daddy’.
Lily’s mom is raising her ex bf’s kids because he is an irresponsible drunk and their mother is a junkie, so her ex comes by her house a lot. Anyway Lily’s daddy came by one morning before they came over, and he tried to give Lily a cookie and play with her. She totally snubbed him and went to her leash because she wanted to come here. I think it may have hurt his feelings a bit, LOL. He already gets mad because Lily’s mom refers to Ripple as Lily’s bf.
Lily was a little shy when she first came to the park and Ripple was her first friend.
I will be so happy if the park opens tomorrow.
Once upon a keyboard dreary
while I typed weak and weary
there came a wrapping on my PC door
Quoth the hamsters, “504”
LOL
and in the good news department
the city called me back and
THE DOG PARK IS OPENING TOMORROW MORNING!!!
The down side is I have to get used to getting up early again.
That’s BeePa! ![]()
And we’re definitely going to have to work on her tendency to throw herself at him. She’s a very enthusiastic toddler!
I just finished planting a bunch of iris, then I transplanted the volunteer petunias from the planters out front to the pots on the back porch. The front planters now just have mums, which won’t bloom for a while, but that’s fine. I may stick a couple of small hostas in them.
I yanked up some poison ivy and I don’t think it touched skin - I was wearing gloves, and before I took them off, I scrubbed them with soapy water and rinsed them well. We shall see. One hunk of it was climbing up a tree and all of it came out of the beds where I plan to plant the hostas tomorrow. So that planting should be safer now.
I also repaired the lid to my mom’s hamper. It’s a Longaberger and several of the teensy nails had popped out, leaving the wicker insert loose. So I used a few dabs of glue, and I found some teensy brads that seem to have done the job. Go me! ![]()
Just got a call from the chaplain at the hospital - a rabbi, no less. Then again, it is Sinai Hospital. I don’t know if he even saw **FCD **- his comments seemed rather generic, but it was a nice gesture anyway. I guess.
Dammit, it was right here a minute ago…
I suspect it’s more COVID fears than a remarkable recovery on his part. Plus I think he told his doc he doesn’t want to go to rehab. And for all I know, BC/BS said they wouldn’t pay for it. No matter - I’d rather have him home.
I hope everybody whose back is out gets their mojo back soon, and that FCD’s back wil be all fixed up.
Sorry to hear about Drop. We aren’t really buds, but I recognize and remember him. I hope he pulls through this.
If you don’t mind, could you share the brand of showerhead and where you got it? We could use something like that. (Not for our naughty bits, but for basic people washing.)
And I hear ya about the hugs. I’m a huge introvert too, but I do like a good hug. ![]()
Ummm… yeah. :dubious:
We’re back at the big house for a few days. Wifey has gone to the office to work. Gibbs is celebrating being back by barking at stuff out the front windows that only he can see (maybe the invisible mole people have a contingent here).
Vinnie is asleep on his bed. The grass has gotten along just fine without me and desperately needs a hair cut. Maybe tomorrow, if it dries out enough.
I’m getting myself sorted for a day of errands. I need to go by the animal shelter, if they’ll let me in.
I need to pick up prescriptions. I need to collect our mail from the Post Office annex, and get some groceries.
I also need to call my barber and see if he’s working again yet.
Annnd need to investigate sending back something I bought from Da Jungle.
I’m gonna try to post this. Getting lots of time-outs.
It has rained so much last night and all day the animals are lining up two by two along the road. I do love me some rain.
I want to go to the store as I have a hankering for either beef stew or a pot roast. I think it shall be beef stew given the weather. Now, just to get my ass in gear to go fetch it. All I need is the meat. And some tuna for the cat and whatever else looks good once I am there. I have been watching The Handmaid’s Tail. I don’t know if I will continue or not. Sort of violent.
OK talked myself into going to the store.
Great news about FCD.
I have new ‘walking’ sandals. Chacas. Expensive. And stoopid!
First time with them on, walking this morning.
A stick jabbed me right in the arch of my foot. Bled allover my pricey new Chacas.
Who had the brilliant idea that sandals were good for walking?
And, why do I always buy into these things?
Sometimes I shock myself, how dumb I can be!
They look cute on, tho’
I sure hope I can get the blood stain out. I hope my foot don’t cause me problems.
Gotta go weeding the garden. Y’all have a productive afternoon.
