The day-after-mothers-day MMP

Make that The Handmaid’s Tale lol

I’ve had an email from his daughter. Short on info. But he’s moved to the COVID unit. He’s been on nasal oxy for awhile. He has asthma and had a near choking event recently.
I’m taking the ‘no news’ is ‘good news’ side of this.

Well, it could be Tail if it was the furry episode.

Or the porn version.

My son is listening to jazz again, and he wants me to listen with him as part of my proofreading. It’s not so bad, just not my kind of music.
The song he is writing about has elements of Dixieland and Bebop.

I am glad FCD is on the mend

Near as I can tell, I avoided getting touched by the poison ivy, so YAY!!! Huzzah for work gloves!

Supper was good, and it’s all cleaned up, with the dishwasher sloshing away. I may sleep with Mel tonight, since I woke a bit after 3 today and I’ve been dragging for the last few hours.

I’m hoping **FCD **will call me again, but I won’t contact him - I don’t want to wake him or interrupt PT or any of that. So I wait. Because I’m nice, dammit!

Evening all. Hair has been trimmed back to manageable length, I signed up to Amazon Prime for a year (and got a second free month in the bargain) and hung another 6-8 pictures. Need to get more picture hangers to finish the job, so a trip out tomorrow to Home Depot is probably on the schedule.

The Great Clips place was good on the social distancing, both I and the barber wore masks (a couple of the patrons didn’t, was a bit surprised that they took them) and I gave them $15 for an $11 haircut, figured they needed good tips since this was their first day of work in weeks.

Sari, great news on the park. Hope Echo and Ripple aren’t too rambunctious tomorrow.

Shoe, I’ve been single all my life and am used to solitude, but I do miss coaching youth soccer and working with the kids. Don’t hug them (they are very strict in AYSO about coach-player contact and I support it completely), but just being around people…

FCM, glad the ivy didn’t carry over.
Everybody take care now.

Yay for claiming FCD Mooooooom!

metal mouse, I’ve ridden the Lakeshore, as well as the Southshore. When I lived in Elkhart County, I used to take the train into Chicago when I wanted a weekend away or to visit family.

sari, while I don’t know why the self serve or automatic car washes closed, the staffed ones are cleaning and vacuuming the interior and are in danger of catching cooties. Once I get the Goodwill donations out of my backseat, I’ll take mine into the carwash down the street from it. They do a much better job than I do or the automatic one does for not a whole lot more money.

I wound up with CTO rather than PTO yesterday. The plant closed for cleaning and fumigation (again) because someone in operations tested positive. I had two Zoom meetings this morning, one of which was an hour. I was in enough pain that I was doing yoga stretches throughout. Then, I got an EoB directive to have about 20% of the stuff in my queue done because we are migrating that segment of the business to the updated system earlier than planned. The old bat was bellyaching and pestering the fire out of me all morning until I told her (diplomatically) to put a sock in it, as I was in pain and had a metric shit ton of work on my desk due by the end of the day. Right now, she’s complaining about an area that’s unassigned that I usually get stuck with. :stuck_out_tongue: Welcome to my world.

I’m still pretty sore, but walking. I may bug out early tomorrow and to hell with the stuff that doesn’t get done. The weekend guy can pick up a few counts that aren’t gimmes for a change.

:rant over:

Stay healthy y’all!

Do you have any wall space left after all the picture hanging, MetalMouse?
I have a feeling my two brats are going to be very rambunctious tomorrow. I hope they wear their little hineys out and sleep when we get home.
So far I know that Lily Jax and Maia are coming. Bella hasn’t answered my text.
The press release will be on fb tomorrow, so not everybody will know in the morning.
I just know I want to get there early and let Echo get in there and run around a bit before other dogs start coming in.

My driver’s license expires Moonday, but the MVA isn’t going to be opened yet, so nothing I can do about it.

Howdy Y’all! Been a semi-productive day, well, for me. I did some organizin’ in the pantry, went through stuff in the dresser and neatened it up, went to Sam’s for a few items and impulse bought a pee-kahn pie, cause, well, pee-kahn pie! We supped and lounged around watchin’ teevee for a while. OYKW has taken himself to bed and I shall shortly I reckon. We’re considerin’ gettin’ haircuts either tomorrow or Moanday. Moanday might be a better day as it might not be as busy as Firday. We shall see.

MOOOOOOM yay about the news on FCD. I’m sure he’ll be glad to be home to recuperate and have RoxStar as his nurse.

ETA: Sari yay on the dawg park openin’ tomorrow!

It’s called “PowerSpray +” from the Waterpik brand. It was at Meijer but I think the same one is at Home Depot and Wal-Mart and probably the other big boxes. This particular model has 5 spray patterns, if that helps. Packaging is bright-ass aqua blue.

I think it was $20 or $25 tops.

First day (training) at Le New Job tomorrow. Since all dispensaries here are doing curbside pickup during quarantine, where the cars line up circling the building and you bring people’s orders out to them, it means a lot of trotting back and forth outside. I have a raincoat with a hood, but I need to re-glue the soles of my comfy/ugly sneakers. Whoops, should have done that earlier today! Shit.

Well, anyway, soon I’ll have a decent Vitamin D intake again (very good for my mental health) plus an employee discount on the goodies inside. I foresee a calmer, more sane Purple soon!

I have a tiny chunk o’cow waiting for my dinner, a big jar of homemade chicken broth in the fridge and two smaller plastic tubs in the freezer, and sat around binge-watching Netflix today while the rain pattered. Nikki took advantage of me being home and asked to be let out constantly, eventually just sitting in the half-open doorway glaring at the drizzle while I pottered around being lazy. Life is pretty okay.

Off to splash some Wershersher onto the chunk o’cow and feed the ratties. Probably oughta feed the cat, too, she seems to appreciate it.

Irk was remarkably irksome today, with crappy phone lines and higher-than-normal incompetence by “colleagues” contributing to cranky callers. WHY do people bother to call tech support if they’re not going to shut up, listen, and follow directions? At least sup says they don’t CARE about handle time stats right now, with so many more people than usual needing website support. Also, the queues stayed BELOW 200 calls waiting all day, and at one point we had ZERO calls waiting. A healthy percentage of the day, only double digits.

My throat’s a wreck, and brownies are going to feature heavily in my evening menu. (No, no “special” ingredients, even though that WOULD be legal in my state.)

Walmart was rather busy this evening (no hugely overflowing carts). Paper goods are coming back strong. Meat is still sparser than normal. Pet supplies looked reasonable. The cleaning products section is still a ghost town. Didn’t check baking. Noticed that towels and bedding seemed pretty bare, oddly.

Willing to bet those oddball empty spots on the shelves are a supply chain glitch. Either the distribution center is shut down, or the shippers aren’t delivering … that sort of thing.

Or else a lot of folks are saying “Screw it” to laundry and just treating towels as semi-disposables now.

My DIL was in Sam’s club Thursday afternoon. She said the meat counter was almost empty.

We’re good on meat. My freezers are full.
Alot of it is wild game. But my bunch have eaten it their whole lives. I’m the one hold out. I just can’t make myself like it. I like my meat to come in plastic, inspected with a nice purple stamp on it. It’s a personal peccadillo.

Morning, mumpers! It’s decidedly grey this morning on my side of the Pond. The weather-wallah said it would be sunny so I’m hoping it improves a bit during the day. I’m tired this morning, stayed up far too late last night as I was listening to my friend’s rock show and then picked up a book so I was reading when I should have been snoozing.

Anyway, I am up and looking relatively respectable since I’ve got two skype meetings to day with my minions. Better get myself a cuppa and sort myself out for that.

My friend is anxiously awaiting her dissertation results today so I’m keeping appendages crossed for her, she has been doing a Masters in something museum or heritage-related because she wants to quit working for the uni (hates her job and doesn’t like the people) to go and work in the museum sector. This is despite the fact there are very few full-time paid jobs in museum management, most of it is voluntary at lower grades. Still, it’s what she wants to do so fingers crossed for her.

She has applied for a job in my dept (not working for me, that would never do) but she won’t like that one either, far too much committee irk involved and I know just how quickly she will start complaining about that!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. We may or may not go get haircuts today. I already mentioned that, didn’t I? I shall venture over to the place of cheap sodas and load us up on either Diet Coke, or Diet Poopsie, dependin’ on which is cheapest today. The place tends to go back and forth between the two as to which is “on sale”, even though either at “regular” price is reasonable. One thing for sure, we shall order ribs from Sonny’s BBQ for sup. Their St. Louis Style ribs are on their special and are teh nummy! I foresee my tummy bein’ full of ribs, baked beans, fries, and cornbread. Fartfest to follow.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants the fast broken. Then, if I am to roam about the public, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate outer wear. Woe and bother!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Where did the week go? Sheesh…

I’ve got a load of sheets in the washer and I just finished breakfasting. I’ll get all the hostas planted today, and I may do one more load of laundry - depending on how many dirties I have. We’re promised mid 80s today, and I’m already opening the house.

The lawn has to get mowed tomorrow because we’re supposed to get rain all next week. And Sunday, I head north again. We were supposed to be on a cruise to Bermuda this week, dammit.

Oh well. Happy Firday!

Good morning all! I have the day of today. Sunflower and I set this weekend aside and planned to spend the weekend at a nice hotel and do some shopping but Kansas City is closed. It it just another dreary, cloudy day much like the last four or five have been. The one bright spot is an estate sale this weekend. The estate sales had also closed down and this will be the first one since mid March. We have really missed them.

Paper products and hand sanitizer have been making a comeback here, and our grocery store’s meat counter is full. They have been limiting customers to four packages at a time. My freezer is also full, so I am not worried.

Beck Sunflower agrees with you about eating wild game, but i haven’t done any hunting in years. (not that I was ever very good at it) so the pheasant and quail population is safe from us.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. The beasts are snoring.
