The day-after-mothers-day MMP

Afternoon all.

Tis sunny but a bit breezy here today; nice outside if you’re moving around, but not good sitting in the sun weather. The main excitement of the day was going to put some fuel in the car, at the cheapest price it’s been in decades, then taking an unnecessarily long route home, 'cos the local countryside is just so pretty right now it was too tempting. Then had a bit of a walk.

If anyone remembers, at this time of year I normally go play in a field with a bunch of silly people for a week, at an event pretending to be a juggling meet. For obvious reasons, it’s being set up online instead this year, so we can not get round to juggling from home instead. It starts tonight. I wait with interest… Should be a basically a giant drop-in multi-day video chat, with occasional workshops and assorted silly stuff. Due to exams, I wasn’t going to be able to make it to the real field anyway, so a virtual one is nice.

Greetings all. Grumbled when I woke up, thought it was early to be getting up…looked at the clock and it was near 8:30am, so my time judgement is slightly askew. Need to get dressed and over to the Home Depot sometime this morning, but that’s the only planned outing today. 81F for the high and nice.

Sari, I have all the pictures up around most of the house, the spare Bedroom (Science fiction themed) needs about 6-7 more, and my computer/soccer room still needs a lot of pictures of various teams I’ve coached (and I’ve coached off-and-on since 1978) hung.

Nut, enjoy the virtual merriment, even without the juggling.

hippy, enjoy the sale and getting out.

Nettie, sounds like your cow-orkers are more problem than the customers.

shoe, best wishes for the new job–and the repaired shoe…

Everyone have a good Firday now.

It’s a close contest, MetalMouse. Manglement is also a strong contender some days.

Happy Firday!

Pretty day, the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the windows are open, and it’s 79 degrees outside.
Is spring finally here?

I woke at 4, damn bladder, and couldn’t get back to sleep.
Went to the dog park and it was still locked. I called the city, at 6am, and surprisingly, got a call back. They are opening at 5pm, not 5am.
The dogs were very upset. I texted everybody and let them know, Lily was already on her way, so she turned around and we bth got to my house at the same time.
So at least the pups got a playdate.

I’ve considered washing my coat today, for the third time, and hanging it up for the season. However, everytime I do that it gets cold again, so I think I’ll just hang it up upstairs. It’s not like it’s really dirty.

Echo is a dirty mess though. I don’t know how that dog gets so dirty. Her coat is weird, it’s coarse like a shar pei, but it lays flat and smooth. Shar pei fur should stand up away from the body, not lay flat on it. Mackie could go out in the mud and come in pristine. Ripple can go out in the mud and come in pristine. It’s like the muck just slides right off. Echo should be renamed Pig Pen. It doesn’t help that she hates to be brushed.
I wonder when the daycare re-opens.

MetalMouse, I have exactly zero pictures on my walls. Pictures and their frames have to be dusted, and I hate to dust.

I keep thinking today is Saturday, I am so confused anymore.

Waiting for a call from the hospital…

I was outside in muddy gloves when my phone rang. It was a local PT practice wanting to set up FCD’s home physical therapy. That answered one question, and I’m glad to know they’ll be coming here, at least for a bit. BUT the woman I was talking to said they told her he was being discharged today.

 WHAT??

I told her I was told Monday, and she said she’d make a few calls to confirm. Then once I finished planting in the front (I was almost done anyway) I came inside and called the hospital and spoke to FCD’s nurse. She didn’t know exactly what was going on about discharge, but she said she’d call me back after she found out. Apparently the main concern at the moment is the drain in his back putting out a bit more fluid than they like.

A bit later, **FCD **called, and he said they’re talking about sending him home tomorrow. I’m just waiting for the nurse to call me back. I guess I could be driving back to Mom’s tonight.

SO, I’m going to stay inside and wait for the call - no sense in going outside and getting all grubby again. Glad I soaked all the plants that are still awaiting plantage - they may not get in the ground till Sunday.

As I’ve often said: Indecision is the key to flexibility.

I finally made it to the store today and got my beef stew meat. We only had 6.21 inches of rain yesterday. It’s still cloudy but not raining though I think we will get more later. Appears there is a little tropical system forming right on top of us.

TGIF for anyone irking a regular week. There is no talk yet of us reopening. I went in the other day prepared to do some training but the website was down. I shall try again on Moanday.

Have a great weekend staying in everyone.

Afternoon all. Made the trip to Home Depot, went in for some picture hangers, came out with $87 worth of stuff (they were items I needed, but…). They had cleaning products and hand sanitizer on-hand there, but about 1/2 the people (including employees) were mask-less, I guess they think the worst is over–hope they’re right, but I’m keep my mask on for awhile yet.

Dinner was a CHB, tonight will be a Big Bowl O’Sallit, so eating (more or less) healthy.

Sari, glad the pups did have someone to play with, even if Pigpen (Echo) got dirty.

And what is this dusting thing you speak of?

Butters, 6" of rain here in a day would bring out flood warnings; glad there is little chance of the island sinking…

FCM, I’m sure FCD is ready to come home, but if the Drs. are a bit concerned about the drainage, best be sure than come home too early, IMHO.

Nettie, it’s a triple header sometimes…cow-orkers, manglement (I love that), and the customer who is not always right. Hang in there.

Need to tidy up the kitchen a bit, take care all.

I got tired of waiting, so I went out and planted the rest of the hostas, plus a small shrub. After I put all the gardening stuff away, I took the clothes off the line and folded it all. Everything’s in the bedroom waiting to be put away. I need to rehydrate first - it was hot in the sun - duh!!

It’s warm in the house, too. I turned on some ceiling fans. I refuse to turn on the a/c till I absolutely have to!

If they’re going to release him tomorrow, I hope they call soon. It’s a 2+ hour drive and I’d rather not do it in the dark. My astigmatism makes night driving a pain. So I need to be out of here by 6 at the latest.

Till then, chillage.

So the estate sale was a win. The lady of the house used to own a quilting fabric store. They were selling quality fabric that usually runs $12 - $15 dollars a yard for $10 a bolt ( 1 bolt = 100 yards) We bought three bolts. We also bought an adjustable stool ideal for Sunflower’s sewing machine table. A win all around.

The nurse never called me back, nor has FCD. I guess I’m not going to go to Mom’s tonight. But if they call tomorrow, I’ll go by Mom’s to drop off some stuff to her, then I’ll go to the hospital.

Nothing else to do today…

Mask up if you do. You Georgians (and your government) are cray-cray.

We still have no firm idea on when it will be safe to re-open salons here. :frowning:

On a happier note, PWAISDN’s housemate bought more bananas than he could eat before they turned brown and squishy. Enough to make a double batch of neutered (no nuts) banana muffins!

Hubby is extra puny never having fully recovered from the poisoning he had in January. I am about at my wits end with him and his Dr. and this fucking plague. I am scared for him and me. He is off on Moanday to the Miami Cardio and Vascular Institute for some sort of specialized heart MRI that we have been trying to get for 3 months. Once I can sneak his phone away I am going to steal the emergency only phone number for his cardiologist and ask him to please go ahead and hospitalize him. Doctor is trying to rule out a fatal disease that’s obscure and in the meantime he will die waiting. Bullshit. I hate our health care system. We have excellent insurance through DoD and he has Medicare and VA. We have already met all out of pocket for the year but due to Covid 19 he can’t get proper care timely.

Ok, thanks for any good thoughts, prayers, vibes or death wishes. It’s all appreciated. Now I am going to have a good cry.

I tried numerous times to get on yesterday, but no go.

I had a telephone appointment with the oncologist yesterday. He said my blood work looks good. Yay! He also gave me an emphatic lecture on how people as immune-compromised as I am must be extremely cautious about COVID. I knew lupus made me immune-compromised; apparently a history of cancer does, too.

I’m itching like crazy. I have dermographia: my skin reacts to even light touch by releasing histamines, so I itch a lot, and scratching causes dramatic welts. Anyway, it’s controlled with antihistamines, only most of them–even the Rx kind—don’t work on me. The one that does, chlorepheniramine, is hard to find in the form I need, and now it’s not working too well, either. Not sure what to do there.

My sister found out today that her husband hasn’t been getting IV fluids for a week. Nobody told her this. Apparently, his vital signs are good despite no fluid or nutrients. Not sure how much longer he can continue like this–a week, maybe?

Mooooom, what a surprise FCD might come home tomorrow! I hope the drive each way is safe and smooth.

hippie, congrats on the great finds at the estate sale!

Beck, how’s the foot today?

No call back from the nurse, so I’m not going anywhere tonight. I’m hoping **FCD **calls tonight with some news. But I’m not going to bother him.

I hate not knowing. Oh well…

{{{Butters}}}

and {{{FCM}}}

Not knowing is always hard.

shoe, I thought of you watching the evening news today. They did a spot on Michigan’s curbside service at dispensaries.

Irked, grocery shopped, came home while the lawn guys were here, so I took a cold six pack of soda out to them (it was sugared that I bought for company and I can’t drink that), finished the book that I was reading out on the patio and called in an order to the cheap Chinese down the street ($8 for a quart of house special soup and an aigroll…diabetic friendly food for fast food prices) and just now remembered that I haven’t nuked the hot pack for my back (the back reminded me). Kicking back now to watch TV and surf.

Stay healthy y’all!

That’s news now?

First day was excellent. Everyone made nice with the newbie, of course, but it’s - no giant surprise - an overall chill and friendly group. The pace of the work is satisfying; there’s always orders coming in so you’re never standing around bored, but it’s not frantic the way people can get at places like that sometimes, where everyone is overcaffeinated and rushing through everything.

I haz a very content tonight. I haz a happy, too. This is … I’ll be honest, kind of a strange feeling.

Happy for you, shoe; sounds like a workplace that won’t be an irkplace.

Pretty much a nothing afternoon, finished my Sudoku’s and word jumbles (cheated just a little bit…) and watched some TV. Going to be in the mid-80’s this weekend, so the A/C may be turned on sooner rather than later.

FCM, If they don’t release him Saturday, will they hold him over until Monday?

{{{Butters}}}. It’s tough and it’s frustrating and if you need to cry, we all will provide a shoulder you can cry on.

hippy, sounds like you made out well at the sale. Good on ya!

nellie, y’all take care of yourself.

gotti, I’ve started buying bananas since this thing started, don’t know why but usually have 1-2 a day, ran out and need to pick some more up tomorrow.

**[/B{{{butters and hubby}}}]

FCD called. They’re going to remove the drain tomorrow and discharge him on Sunday. So back to Mom’s tomorrow afternoon.

Time for sleepy-bye now. <YAWN>
