Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage. It must be done. We are dangerously close to bein’ the worst lookin’ yahd in the 'hood and we can’t have that! Other than that is shall be pretty chill. Burgers 'n fixin’s and fries shall comprise sup. The plans for yestiddy did not happen. No real reason other than lack of motivation. Oh well, there’s always Moanday. After all Moanday is another day!
{{{Butters and Hubs}}} Here’s hopin’ the doc decides on sump’n Moanday.
MOOOOOOM yay for FCD comin’ home and for home rehab!
Shoe glad the first day on the new gig went well.
hippy yay on the estate sell score!
gotti we go no where sans masks. Also, I prefer my banana muffins neutered.
{{{Nellie}}} hope the itchiness is better today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Mowage awaits! Rah.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
**FCD **called my at 6 - he’s being discharged this afternoon!! So I’m up and breakfasting. I’ve loaded most of what I need in the car, and I’ll leave within the hour. I’ll go to Mom’s and wait there for his call.
Not ideal - it’s really tiring driving there and back in one day, but I’ve done it before and I can handle it. It’ll help that I’ll have a few hours at Mom’s before he’s released.
Roxy is up, and in a little bit, I’ll have to wake Daughter and let her know what’s going on.
In less happy news, I think I got some poison ivy yesterday. There’s a long, bumpy, itchy streak down my right arm. Dammit!
OK, onward! Happy Saturday!!
I am to hear that he is coming home. It is a good sign
Be careful driving there Mooooom!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, a load of towels in the wash and the puppy crate cleaned.
Yesterday, when I swung by Goodwill, they weren’t allowed to unload my car. As I loaded it before the back went out, there’s stuff I can’t unload myself at the moment. I may [del]bribe[/del] ask a friend’s teen son to give me a hand. Other than that and a trip to the dog park, I’m not doing much today.
Happy Saturday!
It’s a beautiful day outside, 68 degrees, the sun is shining, a light breeze.
It has been a morning though.
I let the dogs out at 5:30 and they went off. Shar pei seldom bark, they are not vocal dogs, so I knew something was up.
I yelled for my son, who I didn’t know was alseep, to get him to go check, and the dogs had a possum. He went out to try to get them to leave the possum along, Ripple had snatched it up and was shaking it. OMG! What a mess. We finally got them in and I got them dressed to head out for the park. The poor possum was laying in the yard, mouth and eyes open, I was sure it was dead.
Nope, my son checked on him after we left and the possum got up and got the hell out.
The park was beautiful this morning. Seven weeks of no dogs and the grass is looking good. It was also full of rabbits, much to Echo’s delight. Fortunately for them, rabbits run faster than possums.
We stayed for three hours, and I would have stayed a bit longer, but it was starting to get crowded. Echo was starting to get a bit overwhelmed, and it was time to get her out of there.
I’m going to have a nasty bruise on my wrist. As we were leaving Echo yanked on the leash hard and my wrist slammed into a fence post. I don’t think it’s more than bruised but it hurts to type.
None of us in the dog park had on masks, we just have to stay six feet apart. However, there were a number of runners and people on bicycles who were wearing masks.
I stopped and got KrispieKremes on the way home. I asked my son yesterday what he wanted for his birthday, I could pick up breakfast on the way home, or we could order pizza. Yesterday he said he didn’t want anything. I asked him again this morning and he said he couldn’t choose between KrispieKreme or pizza, and I said how about both? He agreed so donuts for breakfast and pizza for dinner.
So my son is 25 today, a quarter of a century.
His last assignment has been graded, all the surverys done, school is over.
Lily’s mom isn’t doing any interviewing right now but she will let me know, she thinks maybe in two weeks. In the meantime he can be looking for something else.
Lots of people out and about today, probably a combination of things opening and the nice weather.
Spring is finally here!
Good news that FCD is coming home.
I am not sure of how it should go, but I think it is really good for everyone’s sanity to see the restrictions loosen up, even a little bit at a time. I have not been quarantined or locked down, so maybe I don’t have the same perspective as everyone else.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m going to vacuum today, and do a load of laundry, assuming somebody doesn’t interrupt the sorting with his underwear fetish.
Well, nobody was in complete lockdown, but getting some socially distance exercise in was a lot harder in places like NYC. And I was happy to avoid the #MealTeamSix folks
Morning all. Have been totally unconstructive so far this morning, but I think I’m going to take a good bath and see if that gets the motor going.
Take care and be safe, FCM. And I’m sure you’ve treated that poison ivy patch so FCD doesn’t catch it.
Sari, Krispy Kemes are good anytime, and they don’t call it playing possum for nothing.
Heading to 85 today. Think either I turn the AC on or take a clothing optional day around the house.
Happy sattiday, y’all.
My experience with possums is that they hiss and show their nasty teeth.
I ran into a few in the back yard a few weeks ago. The dogs were in the house as I was going. One of them stood his ground and tried to stare me down.
I guess they got used to coming around because I haven’t been letting the dogs out as early as I used to.
I don’t have anything against them, I just don’t like being hissed at.
One of dogs, Maia, that we haven’t seen for a long time came to the park. Her mom and I were talking, I knew she had gotten a new job, I didn’t know she had to move for the job though, and that is why we haven’t been seeing her as much.
Anyway, her husband has two rabbits, one male, one female.
He let them get together and got baby bunnies. The was fine, until they accidentally got together again and had more baby bunnies.
She is upset with him as they now have 20 rabbits living in the apartment.
I said well you do know that rabbits breed like rabbits, right?
I’m sad she had to move away, but she got her dream job, barn manager on a horse farm. She has to live on the farm though, as part of the job.
Sorry to have been MIA for a while, but I was busy and also got damn tired of the board timeouts.
FCM, I’m very happy to hear that FCD is on the mend and on the way home. Excellent news!
I was very down at the beginning of last week as so many of the events I’ve been looking forward to were being officially cancelled one by one, and amusement parks keep pushing back their tentative opening dates. I was expecting the news but seeing the emails and getting the phone calls was just too much. For anyone who was interested in Ruble’s “big bang” in June at the Cook Forest F&I encampment, it’s on for next year (the weekend before Father’s Day). In addition, it’s been very cold and gloomy here and I was in desperate need of sunshine.
After having that drag me way down, I had a long talk with myself and decided to treat this as an opportunity to get more things done around here without the distraction of “Kennywood’s open [not in the Pittsburgh euphemism way!] so I must go ride instead of doing chores.” I’ve gotten several things done and keep adding to my “to do” list. I also learned that the St. Vincent DePaul thrift stores around here are now accepting donations again, so I took a car load out there the other day. It felt good to get that stuff out of my way.
And the never-ending treasure hunt goes on around here – I found a bunch of keys I needed for boxes that Ruble had padlocked although I still have way more keys than there are locks. I couldn’t find a key for one locked box that had its own lock (not a padlock) so I got mad and used a hammer on it. It’s open now.
I also found the second set of keys for each motorcycle that he had squirreled away in his sock drawer. Why? I don’t know.
Remember that I told you my neighbors got chickens? They’re about half grown and they had them out in the yard the other day. So cute! They named them after queens and other famous women: Victoria, Cleopatra, Lady Diana, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and, my favorite, Eleanor Roostervelt. There’s one more but I can’t remember her name. They expect to put them outside around Memorial Day and I expect that Phoenix will lose her little kitty mind.
Speaking of Phoenix, she recently discovered that she can get up on the living room mantel (big double mantel with a little shelf on each side) and on to the built-in bookcase next to it, which goes to the ceiling. I had to move a bunch of things for her convenience. I’m just going to spray Pledge all over her and let her dust the shelves while she’s at it.
I’ll have to get pictures.
Enough of my rambling thoughts for now. I just might join the Virtual Dopefest at 2:00.
Howdy Y’all! We accomplished mowage this mornin’. After we cleanded up, we did burgers ‘n fries for N.O.L. and after that I went to the sto’ of cheap soft drinks. I got Diet Poopsie this time as that was the cheapest. Then nappage occurred All in all not a bad day here at da cave.
MOOOOOOM yay for FCD gettin’ sprung today!
Rain, rain go away…ol’Beck needs to get out and play!!
My garden needed the water, tho. I should quit belly-achin’
My foot is fine. Everything looks like healing is happening.
Mooom, so glad your sweetie is getting sprung. Good news.
Miss Owl, I hope you get all your treasures/keys and lock boxes sorted out.
Phoenix sounds like an explorer breed of kitty. My Siameezers enjoy up high places as well. Bear, my male gets his giggles pushing books off of shelves. Usually in the middle of the night.
We’re home, but the pharmacies all closed before I got to them. Poor **FCD **is going to have a terrible night. I’ll be at CVS at 10 when they open tomorrow.
WalMart’s pharmacy was open, but they didn’t have the meds in stock. And the 24-hr CVS in LaPlata didn’t have any either. Dammit. I wish we’d stopped on the way home. But there’s not a lot we can do now. Dammit.
I’m about to head back to bed - **FCD **is already there and I’m fried. It’s been a heck of a day.
FCM , not to keep you from sleeping, just an obsevation. Mr.Wrekker hurt his back last week. They called in pain meds and muscle relaxers. We had to call around to find anyone with the pain meds in stock. I don’t know the reason. The only place that had them was not in our insurance network. They were cheap though, so no big deal.
I’m not understanding why pain meds are scarce.
He went in Thursday and they decided :dubious: it was a torn/pulled muscle. So no structural damage. He’ll just have to baby it and let it heal.
Here’s hoping you can get FCDs drugs.
I shoulda known it was a Waterpik product. I had a Waterpik shower head I carried around with me from house to house until our present house when I forgot.
BTW, if you search on ‘powerspray’ without including ‘waterpik’, one of the sites that comes up is for a product men are supposed to spray on their naughty bits to make them ummmm… more naughty. It’s hilarious, but definitely NSFW.
Well, gotta go slap some chickie parts on the barbie. Y’all be careful out there.
Evening all. Not much to report from Casa Rat, I did manage to clean the main bathroom some and will stick some hangers up here shortly. The red-headed girl took care of dinner and I ordered tomorrow’s meal from Red Robin (Yum!) for pickup at 11:30. Now waiting for the Southwest Chief to arrive at LaPlata (Railfan camera) and pickup a large group of Amish/Mennonites.
Indoors got to 82F before I surrendered and turned on the AC. It’s cooling nicely but I’ll readjust it once the sun is down and the temps start dropping (still 78F outside at 7:15pm local).
Welcome home, FCM. Surprised the hospital didn’t issue at least a 24-hour supply of pain pills…but it’s been a long time since I’ve been in hospital so I don’t know. Hope FCD does OK tonight.
OW, yeah, going through things can be one of the trials our dearly departed leave for us. Glad you found most of the keys you needed. And hammers are pretty useful tools, aren’t they?
Love the chicken names, BTW…albeit none of those women would be what I called ‘chicken’. Tough old biddies, they were/are.
Sari, I’m sure some of our resident cooks can come up with a recipe for hasenpfeffer you can pass on to your dog-park friend…
OK, everybody take care, it’s Sunday coming around soon.
sari, that’s why they call it playing possum.
OW, that’s exactly the reason that I have two sets of labeled keys in good hands. Hopefully, no hammers will be needed when I decide to kick off. Glad you’re working your way through everything.
Got some organization done in the studio today, babied the back and took Nelson to the dog park. He got a little upset with a lab mix puppy (still small enough for the small dog side) and spent a lot of time on my lap, but he did get out and run with Watson and some of the other dogs.
Beck, what is this with mmp phone numbers?
We are in the same state. What am I, chopped liver?
You could at least go out into the front yard and wave once in a while.
Old Wench, bolt cutters.
I’m waving, I’m waving!!
(:))
