Pike, I don’t know what the cost would be in CA (?), but when I was in NC, you could get a rebuilt engine installed for $2500-3000. If you like your 'Burb and are a tightwad, it may be an option…

{{{Lancia}}} - that is so much worse than a broken coffee pot! I hope you get it sorted out soon without too much bloodshed.
Feeling good this morning, even if (especially because?) I didn’t go workout. I am such a slacker. I’d rather lay in bed than get up and go do it.
Meeting in 30 minutes. Hopefully they are going to accept our proposal, and we can start detailing. Yay! They (TPTB in Aberdeen) have slowly been coming around to our way of thinking. Mwa-ha-ha!
Laterz…
Thanks, FCM and swampy
swampy, just remember: a different animation in each slide, lots of WordArt, pinging noises and… is glitter still available? There used to be these glitter options which always made me wonder whether they’d been specifically requested by Mattel to use in a Barbie campaign.
{{{Doggio}}} Sorry about all the suck-y news.
{{{Lancia}}} Stoopit car.
Got another appointment at the doc today. I’m not hopeful, they’ll prbably shuffle me off to the Gyno, so I can look foreward to more girly problems for the next 3 weeks.
[{{doggio}}}
Sorry to hear about the car Lancia.
I was at work until after 7 last night. Bleh. It’s been that kind of week. Now the friend, who I mentioned a few weeks ago, is getting married to the previously discussed illegal immigrant. We (KT, a mutual friend, and I) talked to her about it a couple weeks ago, asking about the legal issues and pointing out problems. But… she’s going through with it. After wrestling with what I should do and finally talking to the minister at my church about the ethical issues of supporting something you don’t agree with, I am going to go to be supportive of her, if not agreeing with the wedding as a whole. KT is not. So… there’s that.
I had a review with my manager this morning that went well. There’s a bunch that I have to work on for the rest of the year, but overall, things are going well and she’s pleased with how I’m doing as a new manager. So that’s the bright spot for the day.
Oh and since I haven’t gotten here since the weekend, after catching 3 mice previously in her entire life, Lily the cat caught 3 mice over the weekend, one a day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And brought them in the house. We put the live out back outside, the dead one in the garbage, and KT put the injured one out of its misery. Fun times. But boy, was she proud of herself! Ah, mental enrichment for the cat.
Yeah, I thought about that. I could probably get a good rebuilt 350 for $2000 or so, but its not worth it. It needs ball joints, tires, rear brakes, power steering pump, plus some other stuff. Cheaper to look for a decent car on Craigslist. The suburban running gear is good, plus it has an aftermarket carb, so I might be able to make a few bucks off of it. We will see.
Dang, my buddy’s lakehouse up at Possum Kingdom burned up along with I think 175 others a couple of months ago in the wildfires. He’s still trying to get the insurance co. to finish up and now that whole areas on fire again, 150’ flames and can only fight it from the air. It may well take all the homes it missed the first time. When I left work yesterday the wooded area behind us that acts as an overflow reservoir was on fire from being so dry. Get home and a big apartment complex is on fire and it’s spreading across fields because it’s so dry. Seems like every broadcast shows another grass or forest fire somewhere else around here. Our office smells like smoke because the fire next to us has jumped back up and spread again. The delta is on fire outside New Orleans so they’re covered up with smoke. 251 ot Texas’ 254 counties are in a burn ban. We’ve not had a one inch rain in 220 something days. Fire, fire, fire. Enough already, I’ve never been so anxious for a summer to end.
yanno, lieu, of all the horrors of nature, I think I fear fire the most. I feel like I stand a chance against blizzards and hurricanes and floods and even tornadoes, but wildfires absolutely terrify me. Too bad Irene didn’t sit over Texas for a few days…
Back from water delivery and erranding. I got to the credit union, I had lunch in a formerly favorite place (ugh - no longer worthy of being a favorite), then went by WalMart for a few items and a few extras, and finished off by filling my tank with cheap Virginia gas - if $3.27 can be called cheap. Well, compared to the $3.41 down the road from me, it is cheap. So there’s that.
**Lancia **- that really sucks about your vehicle. We had a van with over 231K miles and I figured it would die spectacularly like yours did and a most inconvenient time. Instead, a coworker bought it - with full disclosure - I told him everything I knew was wrong with it, but he figured for $600, it was a deal. Heck, if they only used it for 6 months, it was a deal. Anyway, hope you can find a silver lining.
I fear I may have to close the house and turn on the air. It’s creeping close to 80° outside and my sweetie really suffers in the heat. Me, I can deal with the heat, but not the whining…
Woot! I less than three my Doc!! Now on to lunch. I hongree!
Well, I guess it’s officially official - I got my first pension deposit today. I should say first partial pension deposit. OPM plays this little game where they send you a portion of what they think you’re entitled to until they can run your numbers and confirm what is due to you. Then when they get it all figured out, they send you a mega-check to bring you up to date. I’ve been told it can take as little as 6 weeks or as long as 8 months.
I love dealing with the government… It’s a durn good thing I’ve got a working spouse, because this partial payment will cover the mortgage and maybe a Happy Meal. They told us not to spend our separation incentive because we’d need it to live on - that’s no joke.
But at least I know I’m in the system and they’ve got the correct bank account info, so there’s that.
Wow! You less than three your Doc? Awesome!
What the???
I bet it’s a Smart phone post, with auto-correct.
But I can’t figure out what she means!
Rebo: <3 **Pearl **experiences extreme affection for her physician…

Tough day, I’m running on only 5 hours sleep, but I managed to get to and from irk safely. I dunno 'bout you, but this made me feel better about my day. At least my office doesn’t smell like poo.
Sorry to hear about your friend passing and the other friend’s hound, doggio.
Wow Lance having a car go like that is the definition of a rough day. Let’s hope that and the coffee-maker are the end of your mechanical/appliance woes for a while.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed they can cure what ails you, janis inc.
Moooooom $3.27/gal. for gas is outstanding! It’s $3.59 here.
Congrats on the review, cabby!
Well today’s sammich supper was Mortadella Part 2, the Cheddar cheese sequel. I’ve got just enough left for tomorrow and I think I’ll treat myself to pizza on Friday if my favorite place hasn’t closed early for Labor Day weekend. I’d tell you who makes the best pizza in Pittsburgh, but then the place would get too popular and it takes them almost an hour to deliver to me as is.
Be well, all!
Bri2k
Pearl do you less than three but more than two your doc?
Hee!
Dindin is simmerin’ away. Smells soooooooooo good! Jambalaya YUM!!! Except now I want pizza. I blame Brick. Firday just may need to be pizza night at da cave too.
Back to dindin and the cookin’ thereof.
Laterz!
**FCD **wanted french toast for supper, so that was easy. I didn’t want to eat - the nasty lunch I had is still sitting on my gut. I’ll have some cherries later - that may help.
And on that note, I shall adjourn to assume the knitting position for the evening, because I can. Plus all this reading about pizza isn’t good for me. Good evening, one and all…
Wow, I didn’t realize I hadn’t been getting the MMP this week until today.

Rosie’s sig!
Evenin’ Y’all! Dindin was as nummy as I knew it would be. Also, I went to Evenin’ Prayer/Healin’ Service. 'Twas nice.
I’s tahrd so Ima go lie upon the bed and watch teevee until sleepy time sets in.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Sorry to hear your news, doggio. Hugs.
All that fire sounds scary, lieu. Stay safe. Non-recipe question: did you use flour tortillas for that? Also, did you make them like pinwheels, or just roll them up more like tacos? (We’ll get the instructions out of you one way or the other! :D)
Sounds like your dreaded doctor’s visit went well, Pearl, no?
Pike, that sounds like no fun at all. Hope you have new transportation soon.
That’s a real dilemma, taxi. Since you’ve already shared your misgivings and she’s still wanting to get married, I think I’d feel OK assuming it could be true love. My parents got married legally after only having gone out for a few weeks. They did the legal marriage part so that my dad could get the right papers to live in Mexico. And then wound up living up in the U.S. So, as much as we know it happens in situations where one of the parties has an ulterior motive, it’s also entirely possible that it could be the real thing. There’s no guarantee that you’re going to fall for someone who shares your citizenship.
Long days at work this week. Getting stuff done, but not really enough. Which is nothing new. Looking forward to the long weekend. I’ve got a short week next week because I’m off Friday and the following Monday. Really need the time off to recharge.
Guess I should attempt sleep. (I did wake up eventually on Monday, Rebo. Since I take the bus to work, I’m not actually required to be awake until it’s time to get off the bus.)
Hugs all.
GT
Yeah, my Dr’s visit went better than expected, my Doc proscribed the meds I needed & my BP was good again! (sorry for not clarifying the less than three thing, but at least y’all got some lolz!)
Rosie’s sig to all, and to all a good night.
YAY we’re back!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 94. Time to bring out the Winter coat! BRRRRRR
Not much happenin’ here. I need more caffiene and brekkie. Then, of course, irk purtification must commence, alas.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
