Moooooom, I’m not sure what your time limit is in Costa Rica, but taking mountain trails on the back of a mule is educational, interesting and fun.
Off for a long weekend. I have a dentist appointment Monday, so I took the day off.
The airport down the street has been very busy as it’s an evacuation airport for the military when there are hurricanes/tornados/plagues of locusts (maybe not that last one). That was part of the deal when the USAF deeded it to the town for a regional airport. Fortunately, they’re not any noisier than the National Guard unit on the other part of the old base.
Nelson is barking at the dog on the TV commercial. He’s been doing that lately with dogs on TV or the computer. Silly pup!
How nice, some update won’t let me edit quotes:mad:
Near as I can guess the 4" crinkly tube will be draining the house slightly uphill from me, so they will not have a under-house pond. The trench is in the slight valley between houses, and runs to a drain grate by the street. In Ark times, the little valley fills with water, that goes away within 15 minutes of rain stopping. The only things that seem to like the lack of topsoil here is crab grass and the Iris my mother transplanted from her last house.
Soccer practice complete, but no plumbers to finish the work, so hopefully they’ll be here Moanday. Tile should be finished Tuesday and painters in on Wednesday, so that’ll be 95% of the work done (shower door and medicine cabinet still needed). Also need to buy mirrors for the bathroom (I had one of those big panel mirrors, but now each sink with have it’s own mirror), but waiting until everything is installed so I can take measurements for it.
Have a 8am game with the 6-year olds tomorrow, then drive 35 miles to coach my boys team at another region at 10am, then drive back to coach my girls at 1:30PM. Supposed to be 90F again Sattiday, so I’ll sweat some more.
FCM, expecting notes and pictures from the trip; haven’t been to those places yet, I’d like to know what you think.
As so to bed soon to prepare for a busy day tomorrow.
We’ll be in Costa Rica for maybe 10 hours. I don’t know if the area around the port is safe to self-explore. From what I read, Colon, Panama isn’t. But we definitely would never consider a donkey ride, unless donkey is the local word for air conditioned tour bus…
There should be some photos, but I’m a lousy photographer. I’ll try to keep a diary, tho.
And those of us you haven’t tracked down yet?
Today is the big open house and tours at the Alcosan (sewage treatment) Plant. After working in a shit show it will be nice to visit an intentional shit show!
Tomorrow is Kennywood and their last regular season day; we volunteered for a shift.
Such is my big weekend with a few other things thrown in.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 97 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. After a relatively mild August, we are havin’, even for us, a hawt September! Quality time at the cee-mint pond is the big item on today’s agenda. Steak, sallit, company smashed N.O.T., and rolls shall be supped. Plus I shall make a chawklit sheet cake with chawklit icin’. YUM!
doggio I gather you survived Flo. Here’s hopin’ things are ok at irk.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should get busy makin’ cake and other stuff.
**ruble **- you’re on my FB list, but since you don’t appear to have posted in the entire time we’ve been “friends” you’re easily forgotten! To be fair, you did warn me that you don’t play on FB.
**sari **- that’s hilarious!!
At the risk of jinxing it, I’ve had 2 good sleeps in a row! I’m feeling almost human! Which is good since I’ll have custody of Roxy tonight when her parents go out. Plus it’s critter-fountain-cleaning-weekend - woohoo! And **FCD **needs me to do some stuff for him for work. So I should be busy.
Glad you survived the wrath of Flo doggio! Now to withstand the deluge of dingbat customers that comes after.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, puppy crate cleaned and a load of sheets and towels in the wash. SIL was supposed to come down today for the pup swim and international festival in the 'Boro, but she’s on Flo duty, dispatching enviornmental cleanup crews to the coast. She may be able to come down sometime this evening to go to the Celtic Cup http://www.thecelticcup.com/ to hear a friend play.
Home from my sixth day of work this week. It was so slow it was almost a waste of time to be there today. I am tahred. I stopped and picked up steaks for supper.
I stayed up too late and got up too early. Throughout the day, I’ve had 2 failed nap attempts. No wonder I’m tired all the time.
Oh, and it’s another Fires of Hell type heat day today. At least I think today and tomorrow will be our last days like that for a while. Tomorrow I might just go hide behind my dad’s air conditioner.
It got N.O.S. for a while, now it’s all cloudy and gloomy outside again. Not too hot out there.
Making shrimp for a late lunch, early dinner.
I got a letter from the IRS telling me I owe them a whole bunch of money, but no explaination as to why I owe them a whole bunch of money. I guess I will have to call them Monday and ask why. Once, many years ago I made a mistake on my return and they sent me a letter telling me what I did wrong, this time nothing.
That is my good news for the day.
Howdy Y’all! We had quality time at the cee-mint pond and have supped. JDD and Partner have left. We’re all kinda all in after bein’ out most of the afternoon. Heat index was and still is around one hunnert! Glad to be inside and all showered and cleanded up. Still, ‘twas fun just hangin’ with our two IRL besties.
I took Nelson to the pup swim today and he wasn’t really interested. I did find out that his swimming instinct is intact though. He was more interested in being off leash with a whole bunch of other dogs, including some of his dog park buds than the water. We left after the whistle was called for a half dozen code browns. I went to the international festival and shopping this afternoon and plan to head an hour towards Choo Choo town for my friend’s gig in a bit.
