The Golden Globes Watchalong thread. Anyone interested?

I am a very big fan of Trent Reznor and I am very happy to see him recognized here. He is extremely talented and I thought his work on The Social Network was fantastic.

I know. It’s known as Category Fraud.

City Island should have been nominated.

What a dream for Hailee. The HFPA didn’t get a chance to screen True Grit until after the nominations. That’s the only way I can figure why it was shut out of the nominations.

BEST ANIMATED FILM

Despicable Me
How to Train Your Dragon
The Illusionist
Tangled
Winner: Toy Story 3

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

Winner: Annette Bening - The Kids Are All Right
Anne Hathaway - Love And Other Drugs
Angelina Jolie - The Tourist
Julianne Moore - The Kids Are All Right
Emma Stone - Easy A

Robert Downey Jr. was funny. Angelina is breathtaking.

Once again, Downey Jr is just awesome up on stage. Funny, dirty/corny. Ricky is being pretty mean tonight. I love his standup, kills me, and I have been laughing but it’s been like guilty laughing, especially at the ‘Betty Ford’ Downey type jokes. They’re true but still mean.

I believe Tilda Swinton has the most… remarkable… presenter’s delivery I think I’ve ever heard!

Good for Claire Danes winning for Temple Grandin. I haven’t seen it but I love Temple’s story. I wish it had been released in the theaters.

I don’t get it. Didn’t she win for the same thing last year?

At the Emmys. It gets so confusing sometimes.

I’m loving Ricky, but I’m not getting into the show too terribly much for whatever reason. It’s usually one of my favorite because of both tv and movies.

BEST SCREENPLAY

**127 Hours **- Simon Beaufoy and Danny Boyle
The Kids Are All Right - Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg
Inception - Christopher Nolan
The King’s Speech - David Seidler
Winner: The Social Network - Aaron Sorkin

Liked Aaron Sorkin’s ‘smart girls have more fun’ line to his daughter. I think he seems like he’d be a bit of an ass IRL but he really is a good writer…

Huh, I care, though the only ones I’ve seen so far are The Concert and I Am Love.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

Biutiful
The Concert
The Edge
I Am Love
Winner: In A Better World

I need to go to sleep soon, have work tomorrow, but yay Jim Parsons!

Wasn’t the score to the Social Network just someone slowly hitting random keys on a piano one at a time? Not sure how that won an award.

That came across as condescending to me, for some reason.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
Amy Adams - The Fighter
Helena Bonham Carter - The King’s Speech
Mila Kunis - Black Swan
Winner: Melissa Leo - The Fighter
Jacki Weaver - Animal Kingdom

I’m happy for Melissa, she’s such a great actress. She’ll win the Oscar too.

Melissa Leo normally makes me stabby, but so far her speech has been my favorite of the night.

Was it me or did Jane Fonda show a bit o’ nip during her intro to Burlesque?

I think he was saying all the women in the audience were not just beautiful but talented and smart, and it takes more than just the pretty to get here, so being smart is cool? That’s how I took it, so that’s why I liked it.

But it’s quite possible I was being too positive and he was being an ass.

And Simplico…no. At least I don’t think so. If you are either unfamiliar or not a fan of Trent’s music beforehand it may have seemed that way maybe? I thought it sounded awesome.

God, I hope so. There’s got to be some redeeming value to that horrid horrid dress.

Yes, I think she did.
