The Great MMP Semi-Offical List of Mumpers for this Week

Vango I think.
Thanks for coming and staying to sit on our Mumper porch. It is great to have you. Hope you stick around for a loooonngg time.

Thanks to all for frozen pipe ordeal good thoughts. It’s ugly and all the store are sold out of supplies…duh.

Vango, a fair number of us are pretty much stuck at home (me and nettie for two) and don’t get a lot of conversation, but we’re all pretty good writers and we like to talk that way. So you’re always welcome.

Nut, no extra room in the kitchen for you or is it just custom there that those in the kitchen don’t get interrupted? Bummer either way.

flyboy, had to look up FAL, I dealt with them on the GAU-19 machine guns. It was just a name I hadn’t expected to hear again, especially in the MMP. Thanks for the memories.

Taters, glad somebody is enjoying the weather… And Happy Anniversary, and the ‘little things’ are why you’re in your 36th year together (but you already know that)…

doggio, sorry about the driver news, seems so senseless from what I read.

Meatloaf and fixin’s at Logan’s have been consumed and a few odds and ends purchased at Big Lots, but it’s 28F and moisture has begun to (lightly) fall, so inside I am and inside I will stay.

All y’all take care.

In another hour or so, I’ll order our fried chicken dinner - for delivery. It’s too nasty out to go pick it up. While waiting, I think I’ll assemble a blueberry/apple crisp for dessert. I’m bored and I can’t take any more TV. So off to the kitchen I go!!

I’m not currently one of the stuck-at-home contingent, Rodent. In fact, being a call center worker, I get entirely too much human interaction.

I hope so. I’ve never made them before.

OK… The walk is shovelled, a path up and across the driveway is shovelled, the trash and recycling are out. I hope I remembered the week right. It gets picked up every other week. Trash had three bags, one of which was ashes. Two bags for two weeks? I think that’s right. Recycling seemed a little light. I guess I’ll find out in the morning.

Huzzah! District just called and asked if I wanted to get vaccinated Wednesday afternoon. Hmmmm…

Took me a microsecond to reply “HELL YES!” So after virtual school Wednesday I’ll hie myself off to one of the elementary schools nearby and get stuck.

This afternoon it’s off to the closest friends place for dinner - carne guisada and sides and cocktails. They’ve picked up their first shots as well, so we can restart the Saturday dinners we suspended when the second wave lock-down hit. Nice sunny day, a bit on the crisp side. Perfect for patio dining and letting the teenagers wait on us hand and foot.

Howdy Y’all! Been an icky, dreary, rainy, cool day in south Jawja. We deheathenated virtually and had an excellent late N.O.L./early Sup of corned beast, cabbage, N.O.T., carrots, and rolls. Perfect foodstuffs on an ick day. Plus enough leftover for tomorrow. WIN-WIN!

Boo hope you’ve been able to get all the stuff you need for the pipes.

Quietly yay for the vaccine appointment! I get my second dose this comin’ Firday.

Vango glad you’re enjoyin’ the playground. We’re a pretty amiable bunch and, as far as I know, none of us are axe murderers.

We don’t do special stuff for VD or other occasions as well. I think we’re both happy to have found someone who can put up with each one of us. I’m not sure that last sentence makes sense, but maybe y’all can catch my drift.

Mea Culpa, I think that’s the first time I’ve mixed up you and nellie. Will do better.

Argh. I did something incredibly stupid this morning. I decided to fry an egg for brunch. I did so, turned off the heat, moved the pan to the sink–and thoughtlessly tossed the potholder onto the stove before moving to the dining area. A cloud of smoke clued me in that the potholder was smoldering. Gack. Thank God it wasn’t enough to trigger the smoke detector, but the apartment reeks of smoke, and judging from the windows I heard opening around me, my neighbors noticed, too.

I of course opened windows, ran fans, etc., and have been scrubbing everything down since. Hi, I’m Nellie, and I’m smokeaphobic.

I’m planning meatloaf for dinner because I’m cold and have the requisite ingredients and feel like having something homey. Hopefully it won’t be smoked meatloaf.

What’s with all the corned beef? Are we combining Valentine’s Day and St. Paddy’s Day this year? Green hearts and red beer? I love corned beef, but I haven’t seen any in the stores.

Back when VD meant something else, a lady didn’t celebrate such things but kept them discreetly under wraps.

Doggio, sorry about both drivers. That’s a whole lotta sad to take in in one shift.

Boo, doggio’s clearly not the only one having a sucky time. Damn those pipes. Whoops! It’s Sunday: dang those goldurned, son-of-a-biscuit pipes!

Off to vacuum invisible smoke particles out of the carpet.

Getting me fully renamed will help, I think :).

Just got back from the nail place. Went to a different one this time, and am pretty sure I will not be revisiting the previous. The lady who just worked on me took longer, because she was VERY careful and detailed. I like that. Not sure the guy who worked on me at the last place did all that good a job, based on how much loose fiberglass nail the current lady had to cut away that should have been adhered to my natural nail. The new shop also does not feature a young woman with such a perpetual sulk going on that I refer to her as Princess Pissy, and absolutely would not allow her to work on me if I ever do go back to the shop she loafs in (last time I was there, all I saw her do in over an hour was play with her phone and death-glare customers who had the nerve to converse with the tech actually working on said customer). I do not trust someone that angry with Dremel-like tools near my fingers. I do need said fingers functioning and not skinned, thanks.

What little remains to be done today involves completing putting away groceries (this will involve freezer Tetris with various breads captured at the bakery outlet yesterday) and an IP pot roast.

Ah the joys of freezer tetris. I was doing that yesterday. Managed to fitfar more than I thought. Only disposed of a few things that were over more than a few years old.

Sorry about your pipes Bboo.

Next door neighbor came over with his new chainsaw yesterday and cut the big pieces of tree into little pieces. We used our chainsaw-onna-stick, which only has a 8" long bar, so had a hard time cutting the big pieces. Maybe he just wanted to play with his new toy. I dunno. It was good of him anyway.
Wifey swears that if we chop everything up small enough, we can get it in a couple of truck loads. Hope she’s right. All that can wait until the snow is gone however.

Had corned beef hash for brekkies this morning. (Reuben sammies for dinner last night) We’ve still got at least a pound and a half of corned beef left. I foresee a bunch of sammiches in my future. :yum:

I have been directed to make jambalaya for dinner tonight. It’s as close to a valentines day gift as I’ve ever given. I am not a fan of commercialized ‘holidays’. And why is it always the guy that is supposed to give the girl a gift? Xmas is the only time I ever get anything.

Oh, and you all get offen my lawn!

Some eons back when FCD was at his first engineering job, I made heart-shaped cakes for Feb 14 - one for him to take to work and one for me. Both said “Happy VD!” because funneeeee!!!

Supper has been ingested and evening chillage ensues. We’ve got an apple-blueberry crisp for dessert later. Thus endeth Sunday.

Yay for gettin’ shot silenus!

It’s been a quiet Sunday. It’s cold AF outside, but not much precipitation (crosses appendages). I am so ready for spring.

Watching a feature length interview with the late John Prine. I miss having him in the world.

Having meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner with green beans. Sipping a Boulevardier. I have done my taxes.

Yay for doing shots, Quietly!

That’s three of us who had meatloaf for the dinner. I feel trendy!

We are the Cool Kids,

And Boo for 3. The queen of stuck at home.

Was your lost tree a casualty of snow or ice? Sorry you lost it. Neither one of us is having any weather related fun this week. Glad your neighbor helped you out with his new toy.

My youngest son’s best friend from early in high school, so15-16 years, is going to come over on his day off to help me finish the pipes/heat cabling/insulating. He is the bestest kid~helping his best friend’s mom cause her son is 800 miles away. “You kids! Get back up on my lawn!”

The worst of the cold is yet to come~tonight and Monday night into Tuesday then we crawl above 0 for awhile, so if my pipes survive two more days I’ll breath a sigh of relief. Expensive relief, but didn’t bust out everything. Thanks for all the inner peace karma you’ve been sending me~I’m making good use of it and clutching it tight to my bosom.

Goodnight, sleep tight. You’ve all been great Valentines for me.

I’m guessing - ice. It was also pretty rotten at the core. It left a baby though, not that we’ll ever get any plums off it. We’re gonna sell out and move to central Orygun (semi)-permanently in the next couple of years.

Did I mention we’re on a list. Our county health dept. had a form online for people to sign up for vaccinations. The form was apparently written by a 12 year old with ADHD, but we eventually managed to fill it out, after a few tries. We’re not putting all our eggs in that basket however. If we get a chance at vaccinations somewhere else, we’re jumping on it.

Wifey is in the kitchen making morning glory muffins. That a muffin that has everything in it. almost literally. :yum:

Catch you all tomorrow.
