The Great MMP Semi-Offical List of Mumpers for this Week

Mooooom, that is so scary! Is he somewhat recovered by now, or at least able to think/speak? Hopefully he’ll decide to move closer. As someone who has a seizure disorder, they’re really disorienting and painful.

missred and Old_Wench, that is waaaaay too many teenagers at once.

Today is cold and grey, again. Overlygirl seems to have come down from her discomfort and is off at school; overlyboy is online for his virtual class and my 8 a.m. was canceled this morning. The older the kids get, the more I miss their lack of internal monologue. Even if they were always, always talking (apple doesn’t fall far from the tree), I knew exactly what they were thinking.

In other news, I hope the grocery has steaks. I haven’t had red meat in months - it’s expensive and we don’t eat much meat - and I would dearly love a ribeye, a pile of potatoes gratin and some caesar salad. And wine. A friend of mine happened to be in the neighborhood last Friday and dropped a care package at my door full of wine, cheese, crackers and sparkling cider for the kids. I’ve missed her so much and it was wonderful to chat with her even if it was just for a few minutes from my porch. The care package was an incredible, welcome bonus.

I believe it is a reference to “The Fellowship of the Ring”.

On a videochat last night, he seemed perfectly normal, so who knows what happened… And now FCD just told me his dad has a broken tooth and wants to know if I can get him in to our dentist. Always something…

Laundry is started. More to do, so I’m off to do it.

Morning all. Stayed in until 8am since I could tell it was raining outside and according to the weather folks, it’ll rain most of the day. Temperature made it to 71F yesterday, today it is 42F and not due to get any warmer. So while no snow, it’s not pleasant weather here in N. Ali-bama and a good day to stay inside.

Taters, I’d consider seeing another Doctor if possible, it sounds like you have a problem and the one you got can’t help it. Might need a second opinion. Take care. And {{{ }}} to your family; may it be as mild as possible.

FCM, I think flytrap is right, it’s a “Lord of the Rings” reference. And hope FCD has no problems driving on Firday.

gotti, good news on the bureaucratic win. Hope it helps out PWAISDN, and he’s appropriately grateful for your efforts…

OK, on with the morning activities…might even do a little housework. Take care all.

Ouch, after a fun night of insomnia, woke up at 2 am for no apparent reason and couldn’t get back to sleep, I’m actually doing something today. I’ve got the CNC making trivets. Now on to do my least favorite thing, hunt for customers.

doggio I’m turning 50 later this year. Lead on and send back warnings of wizards.

Have a great Thursday all.

It’s a commuting day, so I’m in the orifice. Very windy in northern Whatcom County. I was nearly blown off the road twice. I started seeing snowflakes in Bellingham, and the snow became heavier (though still light) between there and Alger (milepost 240).

Tonka is still hanging on. He’s very thin and can’t see, but is still moving and eating and peeing and pooping. I made tuna salad last night (solid white tuna, Best Foods mayonnaise, diced celery, and tarragon), and Tonka and Goo got the tuna juice. Mrs. L.A. gave Tonka some tuna salad from her Hawaiian Bread (bun) sandwiches.

Mrs. L.A. is feeling better since she started taking her antibiotics. She stopped when she got a yeast infection. I said, ‘You know how you always tell your patients “You have to take all of your pills!”?’ She said, ‘I know, I know! I’ve learned my lesson.’ She had a blood test yesterday, and is going into the hospital where she had her surgery to get the results today. She’s sure it’s a secondary infection post-surgery, and all she needs is a couple of weeks of antibiotics.

Worked, came home. Gordie and the yippie twins had words.

I got an application 2 weeks ago, join and pay with check or money order, not online. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I’m not that old.

No, but there was bourbon.

I hope so.

The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. Both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins get shanghaied by Gandalf the Grey when they are 50.

What kind of CNC? Spousal unit has a Tormach 4-axis CNC mill and a CNC router (I don’t know the brand) as well as a 3-D printer which is CNC, I guess.

I’ve read all of the hobbit adventures many times, but obviously the 50th birthday didn’t stand out in my brain. I blame the weather.

What have I been up to, you ask? Lessee:

  • scoop cat box
  • boil eggs
  • laundry - one load folded and put away, second in the dryer
  • built 2 meatloaves - they’re in the freezer
  • built a cuke-onion salad
  • made an appointment for FCD to take his car in for service
  • verified with my CU that new cards are on order
  • working on getting my FIL an emergency dental appointment - he cracked a tooth. The man can’t catch a break.

Still to be done: make 'nanner bread and fold and stow second load of laundry when it comes out of the dryer. And I still need to make a shopping list. Oh, and check to see what bills that normally go on the credit card will crop up in the next week. And check on the pellet stove in FCD’s shop.

Adulting is a pain in the patoot!!!

IANAD but it sounds like it could be migraines (the headache and the dizziness). Was that ever considered?

I would very much like to see pictures.

I’m back to PT again today. I think there will be another attempt to evaluate my condition. I’m mainly hoping for how-to guidance for my cane and/or walking stick.

Rain today - we’ll take all we can get. Happy Friday’s Eve!

I’m so sorry I directed that to the wrong poster! I’m glad you were able to chat with him.

More accomplishments:

  • had lunch
  • filled and restarted pellet stove in the shop
  • made egg salad
  • emptied dryer and about to fold the contents

Once the clothes are done, I guess it’s time to make 'nanner bread. It’s stopped raining, but it’s just miserable outside. The damp just reaches to your core. I’ll run out one more time to check on the pellet stove, then I’m in the house till grocery run tomorrow. Well, except for fetching the mail later.

We just had a staff beating in the orifice. We sold our building in Belltown five (?) years ago, and have been renting space in the port. We bought a building in Burien (longer commute for me) that we’ll move into in June. One of the sales guys and I would share an orifice. Since he only comes in once a week, he offered to have his desk in the basement so someone else who needs the space could have his currently penciled-in spot. Since I only come in twice a week, I suggested that the sales guy and I both go into the basement and let our cow-orker have the entre orifice.

It’s just a little router CNC. It’ll do about a meter square. I used to use it to make 3d letters and such for museums, but nobody’s going to museums and they don’t want new stuff right now. I’m making “art.” This little box is about 8".

Those are the NY Finger lakes, if you don’t recognize.

I had 2 years of French in high school, and I was terrible at it. My school required a foreign language but all they offered was Spanish and French. The Spanish teacher told all and sundry that any student who couldn’t learn to roll their rrrrrrrrs would be failed. I tried, but couldn’t learn, so I took French.

That’s why god invented boarding/military schools.

Don’t respond to themDoggio or they’ll never leave you alone. :open_mouth:

I think that’s only a problem if you live in a Hobbit hole.
Hovels don’t count.

Have they tested you for BPPV? If that’s what you have you can learn to do the Epley maneuver to yourself and manage it.

Sorry about your sister and her family.

I’ve been considering getting a 3-D printer. I’ve got an idea for a simple tool that isn’t produced but needed by a segment of the population. Also, I could print things for my train layout and other train people might give me a few pennies to print things for them. If I could make enough to pay for the printer I’d be happy. Who am I kidding? I’d be happy to have a new tool to play with.

The only thing I need to get done today is go to the store for more dark chocolate sea salt covered caramels before the threatened freezing rain/snow starts. We’re running low.
Actually, I’ve got a list.

I probably should get started.

Even if you don’t respond to them they won’t leave you alone…pesky, they are.

Still raining outside. Fixed up a salad for lunch (found out I don’t particularly care for Newman’s own Ranch dressing) and need to do some kitchen cleaning…eventually.

flyboy, you should know better. They’ll stick all three of you in the same office now…

OK, I really am going to clean the kitchen right…later…

Take care all.

It’s snowing, all rightee. It’s sticking to the grass but not the pavement. I have a wild urge to walk to the store to buy fresh fruit. I bought everything but fruit when I laid in supplies the other day. For some reason, getting snowed in or the threat thereof makes me desperate for fresh fruit like all those movies where people stumble around the desert begging for water. Meanwhile, the NWS forecast continues to jump around. Last night it said up to 17 inches of snow by Saturday night. Now they’re saying up to the 12 inches. It looks like the bulk of it will be hitting tomorrow night.

Taters, I hope your sister recovers quickly. Boo would probably have some advice. (Hey, where is Boo? Hopefully off playing with Harriet.) . I think Sunny’s right. There’s a type of migraine that affects the inner ear and doesn’t cause pain. What you’re describing now sounds like a chronic migraine. A GP could probably diagnose it, but since yours was stumped, maybe a visit to a neurologist is in order.

Flyboy, glad Mrs. LA is taking her meds and is hopefully on the mend. That was nice of you to offer to move your desk to the basement at work . Or is your motive simply to go where you can shoot spitwads and make rude armpit noises with complete abandon?

I only come in twice a week and the other guy only comes in once a week, so it doesn’t make sense to have an orifice on the ground floor that will be empty most of the time. By giving up the orifice to our Legal person, she gets the space she needs, the kitchen can be bigger, and the hanging out/lunch room can have an exterior door and not be in the middle of the building. (Someone brought up that the lunch room can get very noisy.)

Anyway, I’m hoping I can come in less since it’s already a 115-mile drive and the new place is farther.

There are now 3 loaves of 'nanner bread in the oven. Laundry is done and stowed. Dishwasher is sloshing away. I have leftovers that can be heated quickly for supper.

Speaking of which, I’m going to make a couple of quiches for supper tomorrow for the returning travelers. I should get the pie crust out of the freezer to thaw. Then I’ll get a shopping list pulled together.

Man, this has been one busy day!

I was checked for BPPV, Bumba. It was one of the first things they considered. I don’t have that an I never want to go through that testing again. I very nearly threw up in my face mask and it took all my self-control to make sure I didn’t. The dizziness is worst if I’m lying flat on my back without some kind of pillow. Headache pain did not accompany the dizziness. I have suffered migraines for many years. They were often so had all I could do was sleep them off, after I was done vomiting. This headache is…different. It’s not constant, but hits in little episodes all through the day. I suppose, if it doesn’t clear up, I will go in. My expectations for a diagnosis or help are low, though.

Technically I think Frodo gets shanghai’d at 49- he leaves on his 50th, some months after being yoinked into the whole thing.

Actually got to go out and do things today at work (even though it was supposed to be my day off- eh, I’ll take it). Means I got to see a bit more of the area- I’ve not been going out much, as we’re still supposedly on lockdown, though it’s a pretty fuzzy attempt at a lockdown, IMO.

I’m now off- properly off- for two days. I might try go somewhere nice for walkies tomorrow, though it’s pretty icy and chilly out there still.
