The Great MMP Semi-Offical List of Mumpers for this Week

Howdy Y’all! We laid in provisions, I took care of church janitor Junior Warden duties, we achieved nappage, sup got cooked and et up and the kitchen got cleanded up. Busy day for the two of us! Been rainy off and on as well and right now we are under a DENSE FOG ADVISORY. Sounds so ominous!

MOOOOOOM yikes about FIL’s seizure. Hopefully it will be a wake up call that causes them to at least consider not livin’ by themselves anymore.

I had four years of Spanish in high school and some courses in college. I can understand and read Spanish fairly well, but I’m not so good speakin’, mostly due to bein’ out of practice.

gotti yay on the grant even if the money is taxable. At least it’s income for PWAISDN.

doggio if I had to deal with teenagers my cocktail martini time would be pretty much 24/7.

wordy the positive thing is that your daughter knew she could come to you. That’s a pretty good kid and some good parentin’!

Happy Doggio Day!

One of my co-workers has 13-year-old triplets - all boys!

Sadly, it’s more than his net income from last year, not counting the pandemic unemployment assistance. Oh yeah, that was another feat of paper-chasing, faxing, and hitting redial again and again to get them to admit he exists. I know people who are STILL battling the EDD to get their money. :scream:

He freely admits he’d be lost without me in terms of playing David to the government Goliath.

Knew a woman who had boy triplets – they’d be 47 now. She was a small woman, too – barely five foot, if that.

Well, we’re in for it, apparently. The NWS says between tomorrow and Saturday evening, we’ll get up to 10" of snow. That’s a lot for here. Glad I laid in supplies. Attention, local parents of teen-agers: the nelliebly liquor cart is crammed full. Come on over! (Masks required. Social distancing enforced. Bring your own glass.)

Should I bring in my humongous geranium from my balcony? It’s pretty tough, but I don’t want it to freeze.

I hiked seven miles today. I saw some Canada geese foraging along the shore and–surprise!–some daisies blooming. I wanted to tuck them in before the snow hits–not the geese, who are, after all, from the Great White North, but the daisies, who seemed brave but fragile.

May God have mercy on her soul.

Moooom, I lol’d at the image of you talking to your MIL’s forehead. I hope you have a nice visit when they come. I know you must miss FCD.

Red, sweet dreams!

Gotti, congrats and whew! It’s stupid they take out taxes, but still, it’s good news. Hope it lifts PWAISDN’s spirits–and your own.

{swampy} {metal mouse} just 'cause.

You maybe don’t have to wait that long. I’m sure there are lots of online options, if you have time around being sandwiched between the care needs of in-laws and grandchild.

My co-worker is the father but I hope God has mercy on his wife’s soul because she has to put up with him!

The one problem with turning 50 is now I spend the next year in fear a wizard will show up at my door, and drag me off on some damn fool crusade.

: drinks extra martinis in sympathy :

I was on the verge of falling asleep when the text tone sounded on my phone. It was notification of a charge on my credit card - the one we just replaced - for groceries at WalMart via online purchase. So I had to get up and call customer service. Our card is now dead and it’ll be at least a week before we get a replacement. Dammit.

How is our number always getting stolen? I don’t save it on sites where I shop. Dammit.

At least I get the fraud alerts as soon as charges are made so I can put a stop to it immediately.

Dammit.

If it’s relatively easy, then yes. If not, you can just cover it with something like plastic sheeting or a cardboard box.

Akiko and her companion in crime, Yoshi, managed to clear an opening big enough to fit their heads under the fence to see the rottweiler. It’s been patched, so they’ll have to go back to sniffing wistfully through the fence.

That’s scary about your FIL Mooooom.

You should be getting an AARP card any day now doggio. :stuck_out_tongue:

sunny, when my sister got her first dog, she would come home every day and he would be all wet (he had a doggy door to go to their fenced in backyard). It was a puzzle until one day, she came home early and saw him coming back home through a loose board in the fence. He was going over to visit the Rotties next door (he was a little guy) and the female was treating him like a puppy, including licking / drooling. They fixed the board.

Fixing to wonder off to bed once Nelson has had his constitutional. G’night!

Silly me, how did I forget about plastic covering? I covered garden plants often in Montana and Wyoming. I fear I’m losing marbles. I went out to see if maybe just moving it closer to the building would be enough for Berta (the geranium…because she’s Germanian. I roll my eyes at myself every time I say it.), but dang, it’s nippy out there! So I brought her in. She’s near the sliding glass door, looking bemused and probably figuring out how to make a break for it.

doggio, you didn’t tell us, and it’s very important: did you get cake?

Having a card number swiped and used at Walmart is a pain, but at least we now have the ability to get instant notifications. I’ve got mine set to alert on any “card not present” transaction so I’ll get a ping for all online and phone purchases, and any regular transactions over $50.

About half the time, the alert comes in before the card is back in my wallet.

Had a goofy realization today. I haven’t taken the stairs in about a year, mainly because I don’t encounter stairs anywhere.

I was thinking you’re now 50. Congratulations and hope the wizard doesn’t show.

Does the wizard risk end at 51? Asking for a friend.

Had my last normal physical therapy appointment this morning. Gyms won’t be open until March, at the earliest. I have some weights at home to help with upper body strength and we go for walks. That’ll have to do.

Happy (checks calendar) Thursday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost seven this mornin’. :astonished: ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 75 and foggy for the day. Way too warm for this time of year. If it were stormy I’d be keepin’ an eye out for tornados. No big plans at all for the day. Fine by me. Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs 'n fries. Fartfest to follow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

gotti - I need to check my alert service and see if there’s a “card not present” option. (Just checked - it is set) I also set mine for purchases over $50, but it seems to alert me for almost any purchase - like $12 for take-out. But that’s fine - it’s just a text.

I’m missing something about 50 and wizards - I’m guessing either a TV show I’ve never seen or a game I don’t play. Or a book I haven’t read? No biggie - I’ve always been tragically unhip.

The wee bit of snow that fell yesterday is all gone - we had rain all night and it’s just above freezing, which is a good sign. The latest forecast for today/tonight is maybe rain/snow with little or no accumulation. The next bit of nastiness is forecast for Sat - freezing rain all day. I’m glad FCD is coming home tomorrow - it looks to be the best travel day for a while.

Today shall involve a fair bit of domesticity. I’ve got some laundry and a lot of cooking or food prep to do. I’ll bake the banana bread, build a couple of small meatloaves, make a cuke-onion salad, boil some eggs (not sure if they’ll be egg salad or deviled) and make up the batch of twice-baked spuds for the freezer so they can get their second baking with ease. That should fill my day. And the various visits to the fridge should help me make my shopping list for tomorrow.

For now, tho, caffeination and morning surf.

Happy Thursday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s frosty here but bright and sunny. Weather app says “The clouds are hanging out just like the fucking weirdos in your family” and promises me 1C/34F all day, mostly cloudy. Not a day for venturing far from home either.

I had a late night (beer and movies) so I’m feeling a bit jaded today, entirely my own fault but it was fun at the time. Clearly it was in celebration of Doggio’s birthday and therefore entirely justified. My inbox was full of scrappy little jobs that I’ve started and can’t finish, mainly because I have to do a bit of work and then pass it on to someone else for completion, so my inbox doesn’t get emptied, things just go in there to die.

Mooom sorry to hear about FIL, I hope he gets looked at if he needs it, and perhaps uses this as a point to make a Very Wise Decision about where to live in future.

gotti good news on the money, even if it is taxable. Something’s always better than nothing!

Off to venture out to the post box, and possibly for a little stroll round the park where hopefully there will be some sensible people instead of the usual bunch of twunts.

Good morning, I’ve been up and at 'em for almost an hour now. Not a single flake of snow has fallen here yet. We shall see.

My youngest sister and her family have COVID. As of yesterday morning, the boys and her husband were asymptomatic, but she felt really, really crappy. I really hope it doesn’t turn into a major case. I am worried for her and her family. All I can do is check in with her from up here; she is down in San Antonio, TX.

I didn’t get any walkies in yesterday; I’ve been fighting a bear of a headache for about two weeks now, and yesterday it became pretty bad. I powered through, but I wish it would just go away, damn it. It keeps coming in waves and is like a tight, but a somehow sharp pain in my left temple and the left side of my forehead. If it doesn’t clear up, I suppose I shall have to see the doctor. Ugh, I hate going to the doctor. Frankly, it doctor visits for weird pains or symptoms frustrate me.

Last year, I went to the doc several times along with an occupational therapist because I was experiencing dizziness and had for almost a year. The spells had become continually worse, to the point where the nausea was making me upchuck. I was tested for diabetes and many other things. So many things, I can’t even remember them all now. Tests for diabetes came back negative, and so did all the other tests. Long story short; the doc said maaaaaybe I was diabetic (notwithstanding the tests that said no, I wasn’t) and I should lose weight. Yes, I knew I need to lose weight, but I don’t think that was the cause of my spells. I freakin’ gave up. I have lost weight, but the spells continue. I guess I live with it. ::

FCM, that is scary about your FiL.

Today is my Friday, yay!

The thing that got me about turning 50 was the sudden influx of Special OffersTM on Life Insurance. Everyone who has ever looked at me cross-eyed is sending me life Insurance offers.

My day reckoning is completely off. We had our regular Thursday Stand up yesterday, now I’m convinced it’s Friday. It doesn’t help that we decided to skip our regular grocery run last night. Of course, we ran our of kale this morning, so I’m off to the Aldi later to prevent a bunny uprising.

Oh not - not a bunny uprising!!! :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:
