Guy who post in the Pit
You, and, again, I AM NOT AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN, I AM PERUVIAN, I DON’T VOTE IN U.S. ELECTIONS, I DON’T LISTEN TO TALK RADIO.
Relax, it’s an easy mistake to make. The incredible stupidity of your posts makes it understandable that one would mistake you for a knuckle dragging, talk radio listening, republican wing-nut.
No, asshole, I don’t think that way. I’m an atheist, dude. I don’t believe in Messiahs.
I wondered if you were Peruvian, by the way.
You know, when you post a message in the pit, you don’t have to be a trolling jerkface. You don’t have to post things “just to irk people”.
But you just enjoy yourself sunshine.
If you haven’t seen the SNL skit of Palin and Clinton (with Tina Fey spot on), you should check it out. It seems quite germane to the discussion.
DIOGENES, I tried, and failed, to use the little wit I have to write tongue-in-cheek and use a couple of obscure references. Having lurked for years, I had come (to the obviously wrong) conclusion that you were both intelligent and well-informed.
I apologise for the mistake, apparently kissing Mr. Obama’s ass and wiping it with your tongue have definitely turned off the lights on what few neurons your stupid, dogmatic, full-of-yourself, intolerant motherfucking brain had. So I’ll be nice and explain it in the language you understand
-
You do not in any way understand the other side of the political debate because you feel like no one else has a real opinion (except to kiss your ass). Everyone else is a moron or evil, period, there is no other way in which to be against you.
-
The whole “burning in the heart” thing was paraphrasing (“burning in the heart” is Mormon, “burning bush” is from the Old Testament and “Damascus” is from the New Testament. All of them mean meeting god, listening to his word. I was making fun of your teenage-crush on Mr. Obama. Sorry about the references, I thought they were clear enough.
-
I’m sure that Mr. Obama is way more qualified academically (and in almost any other way) that Ms. Palin. I never said the opposite. It is good, you dimwit, to read the other guy’s post…or maybe reading comprehension at 4th grade level is too much for you.
-
So, putting her on the ticket was sexist? Well, if you’re going to pretend that political decisions take into consideration no more than qualifications then it is obvious that you’ve taken too many mind destroying drugs. Doesn’t every single candidate use any edge (family, sex, looks, name, race, school they went to, etc.) to win an election? Three years ago very few people knew who Obama was and know he is incredibly likely to become the new president of your country. Do you think that most people who will vote for him looked at his résumé or pondered his years of experience teaching constitutional law (I’m sure, you and other dopers did have long debates about his constitutional views before deciding your vote)?
Are you so lacking of sense? -
So, again, words like Barbie are NOT insults specifically meant to insult a woman? You must be special because in every single other use of those words they are used in a sexist manner. But, of course, you are Diogenes the Cynic, you use the words and they mean what you want…they don’t , you self-absorbed fart-for-brains. Is “cunt” sexist? or you’re gonna say “I call Dubya a cunt”, so it ain’t sexist?
-
If she thinks that dinosaurs lived with men, then she is ignorant, it doesn’t inform us about her I.Q. Do you actually know the difference between ignorance and lack of intelligence? Of course you know that birds ARE dinosaurs, at least in any scientifically meaningful way. Was that your ignorance or your stupidity? I asked for a test, like calling someone a mentor for 20 years and then claiming you don’t know what his ideas are. So, it a NO on the test, at most, Ms. Palin is ignorant.
-
So, calling Mississippi “the Bribe state” would also be acceptable in political discussion? (Just in case the reference is too obscure it means that Mississippi has very high level of political corruption) I, mean seeing that you use facts to make it look like your are not insulting.
-
The abortion one was the simplest one and you failed. You repeatly, and in many cases accurately, accuse right-wingers of hypocrisy because they say they defend the family and have mistresses or they are pro-life and have abortions.
So when a politician actually does as she preaches, the easy stab at hypocrisy is gone. Got it? -
Your wife is due in three weeks for what? You surely are not calling the clump of tissue (that is more like a parasite or a tumor) inside her body “a child”? That tardspeak. It’s a “potential human being” at most. “A child” would mean that you agree that a late term abortion is infanticide. Don’t humanize it; use “blood-clot”, you’ve done it before (or words to the effect), even when your own wife had just become pregnant. “Child”, come on, that would mean you need an excuse to kill it. Careful with words.
And what do you mean by “we already made the decision”? Who’s “we”? Surely you mean "my wife freely and maturely made a decision about her own body, for which she may have -* but in no way was forced to*- consulted me as a person she respects? “We” would mean that the humanoid creature growing inside your wife is related to you in more ways than only genes? That’s pubspeak again, humanising that freeloading critter that, once it comes out will suddenly become a human, but not an instant later. -
The horse one. A hand is 4 inches and is the classical way of measuring a horse’s height. 25 hand would be more than 8 feet, ergo, a high horse, the one you seem to be riding, use some google, man. “Soroche” is “altitude sickness” in quechua
11)Nuestra Señora de las nieves, now that is a good, intelligent, witty insult.
If my references are still to obscure, sorry, I need my opponent’s log(I.Q.) to be greater than 1 (BTW, that meansan I.Q. more than 10). I can’t win if you can’t understand how badly you are lsing the debate against a guy who really doesn’t care.
Self-esteem is so *cute *sometimes!!!
Seriously dude… when no one other than you recognizes your brilliance, it usually doesn’t mean that you’re just that fucking special. It usually means that your communication skills kind of suck.
Sure. It was also sexist.
But using housewife as a pejorative is, in fact, sexist by your provided criteria: something that would not be slung at a male candidate.
And it is that kind of consistent slur, Dio, that has cost you your credibility with many recently, apparently.
Much like Shayna’s constant emphasis, as a pejorative, of failed beauty pageant contestant ( an incident from over 20 years ago she leveraged into college funding!) does not alter the fact she is a duly elected governor and former municipal mayor. (Now, if she’d been picked for VP 24 years ago, it would be a valid criticism.) If you want to bash her as a governor, do so- but leave off the misogyny and 1950s slurs, please. Some of us accept feminist ideals, and find the slurs offensive.
It’s also beyond dishonest to pretend it was the “dingbat” they objected to . . .
Oh, and on the thread: MSNBC is a news channel. Their use of sexism is not the same as sexism on a comedy show. Fox News is not anymore than the news on Fox, it is not the entirety of the network.
If Fox News whined about mysogyny on the Daily Show, then you’d have a point.
Never understood the problem with using gender appropriate insults. Have we gotten so ridiculously sensitive that we have to have gender neutral insults?
First off, “housewife” used as a perjorative inherently implies that a woman is a lesser human being for staying home- with the added social implication that a “woman’s role” is inferior. That is inherently sexist, and a flat-out lie when applied to Palin, who has not been a housewife in years.
Secondly, we are using Dio’s own criteria for sexism: Slurs that a male candidate would not be subjected to (and not because of their non gender-neutral phrasing, such as the difference, one presumes, between “bastard” and “bitch.”)
Finally, if Dio is going to accuse anyone else of hypocrisy with regards to sexism in reporting, the traction of his claim is undermined by the evidence of his own rampantly sexist attitudes regarding the election- and disingenuous claims, such as “why is dingbat offensive”, do not help his credibility at all.
Must be my illiteracy showing, but when I see “housewife” I see a wife that stays at home. I have the same problem with “househusband.” Never saw the whole lesser human inferior role thing. What letters is it hiding between?
You’re attempting to play semantic games by removing context. Fact is, it was used as a pejorative. Culturally, that means the interpretation I laid out. The term is socially loaded in modern America, and there’s no fucking way Dio didn’t know that, meaning he used it deliberately.
Your inability to read beyond the purely literal is sad. Your atheism does not in any way preclude messianistic feelings, it may do in your specific case, but there are whole bunches of atheists who follow(ed). “The Leader” with religious fervor.
Obama is not a Messiah in any religious (as in “appointed by god”) sense. Get a clue, man.
Let’s see if my longer answer goes through your bulllet-proof head (which means, just in case you don’t get it, you’re dumb).
I wonder if your brain is working, so we’re even. This “I don’t beleive you’re a ______” phrase you’re using recently is becoming old. It makes it look like you actually would accept proof.
I don’t believe for a second that anything I could produce (birth certificate, national identity card, passport, my picture on the company’s website) would be enough for you. I wonder if you’re actually gonna vote for Mr. Obama, you don’t seem to possess enough brain-power to cast a vote.
DianaG, if the self-esteem thing was aimed at me, you are wrong. Kicking DtC’s ass and seeing him miss even the easiest of my jokes, puns and references cannot increase anyone’s self esteem, at least not mine, it wasn’t that difficult.
GreatDave, since Ms. Palin herself has given positive reviews to it, it would be stupid to protest. she’s even claimed she’s disguised herself as Tina Fey, so they’re even. SNL should invite Ms. Palin.
Ají de Gallina, I know you don’t give a rat’s ass how you’re coming across - only about scoring points (or thinking you are) against Dio - but at this point going on and on about how he acts like Obama is “the Messiah” (in all of the ways which you seem to think are clever), you’re starting to sound like the kid who’s 15 years of age and still yelling, “COOTIES!” The rest of the kids on the playground got over the whole “cooties” thing a long time ago, but you still think it’s somehow hurtful or demeaning to accuse people of having them.
Listen, Bubbeleh, he doesn’t have cooties. Cooties aren’t real. Yelling about cooties isn’t going to MAKE them real. And no matter how many times you try to imply that Dio’s soul is in the tank for Archangel Barack, it’s not going to make it true - just make you look stupider. Not that you need any help with that.
Isn’t it fortunate she lives in a country that protects her right to make that choice? Do you think Palin would fight to keep that choice legal for other women?
I’ll stop it, then. I meant it as a joke or pun (we are in a forum called “The Pit” not “great Debates”). As a joke it bombed and as a incredibly minoir political point it diverted attention. I’ll stop it.
Can I go for the non-messianical insults like “ass-kisser” or “I’m sure every time you hear Mr. Obama say *change [/I ]you lose control of your sphincters”?
I know I don’t need help to be stupider…althoug, actually, my level of intelligence is so low that I may actually NEED help.
I’m sure Mr. Obama is much more qualified than Ms. Palin to be president.
I’m sure Ms. Palin’s being a woman, pro-life, not-so-bad-looking, gun owner, former mayor, governor and mother of many were important factors in her being chosen as VP candidate; possibly higher than her I.Q., qualifications or political acumen.
I’m sure that a similar set of non-governing related issues are important in selecting any candidate for any office. Mr. McCains POW status is an unfornate event that does not inform any about his abbility to be prez. Mr. Obama’s speech-delivering abbility does inform any about his abbility to govern.
FoxNews was being sexist.
Other programs were also sexist.
FoxNews was hypocritical.
Other news programs are also hypocritical.
I used it to refer to her lack of experience, as wll as to her own attempt to claim being a “hockey mom:” and a “PTA mom” as relevant qualifications. Essentially, she IS a dingbat housewife who managed to scam her way into some minor elected offices and now thinks she’s qualified to be POTUS. It’s not a comment on her gender, but on her puny resume.
The equivalent would be W as a dingbat fratboy with connected dad.
More hypocrosy. By your own words, its not sexist if it’s ‘inclusionary’, only if it’s ‘exclusionary’. Conservatives are inviting her into the tent. YOU are the ones trying to keep her out.
I’d cite all your boring posts on this, but frankly, you spew so much dumbfuckedness on the subject, its not really worth my time.
