Masks were not ‘legally’ required here until this week, but many stores had their own rule. To be fair, I have not seen anyone in Tesco on a Friday morning without a mask since last April.
We have a clever phone that filters unwanted calls.
Snow day here in Nee-braska too. Blizzard warning, 60mph gusts. Some snow blowing around. Have to drive the house teenager to her shared custody dad’s later. Unless more snow blows in that should be bearable. Knowing me I will probably let McD’s cook supper for me on the way home-he’s only a mile round trip away from the house.
Time for another hot cup a something, the winds are howling outside the window. Hot apple cider? Coffee? Hot chocolate (no sugar added on any of them).
I am totally down with this. I vote for hot chocolate, not too much hot water and mixed with some nice, strong lovely coffee. And a dash of cream.
Also, my meeting ended early, so I am free as a dang bird. Well, as free as one can be while quarantined at home with two bored kids. But still, not working. I really want cookies but since I have no chocolate chips, I may look for a recipe for something cinnamon-y, like snickerdoodles or just rolling shortbread dough in cinnamon sugar. God, I’m hungry.
Howdy all. Batteries (type 123A) have been procured (at $7.99 each) and installed and internet/phone bill has been paid, so all is well. Lunch has been prepared and consumed and sheets dried and ready for re-installation. So the afternoon will more than likely be slothful.
All righty - the dishwasher has been emptied. The bread maker is nearly finished the dough cycle for the Italian herb bread. Desk papers have been sorted, some recycled, some dealt with, some to be filed. And I walked - just over 5.5Km in an hour. Plus I scooped the cat box.
As soon as the dough cycle is done, I’ll form it, set it aside to rise, and get ready to bake it. Higgs will score an egg yolk, since I need the white for the bread crust. She’ll like that.
They’re to make sure you don’t have any dead zones in coverage. In my house, the w-fi coverage seems to be “optional”. I end up doing a hot spot to get internet. Comcast will sell/rent me those coverage extenders. If you don’t need them, then fantastic.
Sorry about your acquaintance. We’ve had a few unhappy discoveries ourselves.
They’re not doing remote learning?
I just had a remote dr’s visit. I could get used to this. I hope the world keeps some of these new habits, at least as an option for those that need them.
I have lost 35 lbs now, which I’m chuffed about. I have more to go, but this feels like real progress.
I am about 55 miles east and a little north of our friend BBBoo. I have the same icy snow and heavy winds. We had no reason at all to leave the house, so we just hunkered down. Unlike BBBoo, I would rather go hungry than eat at McDonald’s. This evening we are having breakfast for dinner: eggs over easy, hash browns, corned beef hash and toast.
Sunny - there are no dead spots in our house - at least the spots where our TVs are get good signal - even the one in the basement. So those fancy plug-in hockey pucks will go into a drawer somewhere.
Congrats on the 35#. I’m still hovering just shy of 100 - partly blaming the holidays, partly lapses in self control - but my Dr is happy and I’m still mostly avoiding junk eating. Plus the treadmill seems to make a big difference. In my dreams, I will drop 30 more. Doable, if I work at it. I probably will… eventually.
The bread is resting under a cloth. When the timer beeps, I’ll paint on the egg white wash, then pop it into the oven. The house is about to smell amazing!!!
I want to have supper at your house! If it weren’t for the blizzard warning I could be there in an hour. I get only cheeseburgers at MCD’s, with a BOGO coupon so both my roommate and I eat for a few dollars. Don’t do the fries or secret sauce stuff. Cuisine it ain’t but the price and convenience is right.
Glad you walked by here. {{{ nellie }}} w/free refills.
They are, they just have a “grading day” since the high school finals were this week. And of course, there’s MLK. Plus, they have professional days in February.
I can’t remember the last time my kids were actually in school (zoom or physically at school) since early November.
Ah, well. Overlygirl and I are dying our hair purple today. Her hair is so dark no one will likely notice and I’m old enough if I want purple hair, I’m gonna have purple hair, dammit. So there.
OMG - the Italian herb bread was (as my offspring would say) AMAZE-BALLS!!! So good! I ate way too much.
Meanwhile, it’s quiet again - they just left with Hurricane Roxy. They tried to fob her off on us for an overnight, but not today, thanks. We are in much need of chillage.
My daughter and dear SIL are fobbing my 3yo tornado granddaughter off on me on MLK Day cause her university child development lab school preschool is closed. I agreed instantly. So I get my traditional Grandma let’s play all day and then get to go back Moooanday. Win-win. Good to know ahead of time so I can rest up even more.
Well, I guess I have MLK Day off. It was that, or else Presidents Day. I wanted to defer my floating holiday until my birthday, but El Jefe said I had to take one of the holidays off.
Evening all. It’s BLT time on the weekly menu, so after typing this I will head out to the kitchen and prepare them. Otherwise not much to report, got up to the mid-50’s today but mail is still showing up after 7pm (at least it’s showing up).
sunny, happy you have lost the weight–think I inherited it, though, I really do need to do something more these days.
hippy, BBBoo, stay warm and stay inside; you two have a good reason for it.
talky, I would dearly love to see your purple hair…
FCM, didn’t read back up, did you make the bread or was it store-bought? Sounds like something I might like to try.
OK, need to get about making the BLT’s. All y’all take care.
I’m glad you’re making a little progress nellie. Hugs.
Irked, knocked off ~1:30, grocery shopped and took Nelson to the dog park for a quick romp before the real cold kicked in… Let the Captain fix supper and now I’m chilling. We’re beginning to get a few flakes of snow.
Howdy Y’all! Yes, I am still awake. I feel like such a party animal. Except for the fact that I’m wearin’ a tshirt, jammy pants, and my robe. It’s a slumber party! I futzed with phone a good while today. Need to figure out all the bells and whistles. There are literally bells and whistles! It rained this mornin’ and then was N.O.S. all afternoon. It shall, however, get cold overnight, so back to sweatpants and sweatshirt tomorrow. Oh well.
OK, gonna go look around teh intartoobz for a bit.
My feet were sore when I came home today. I broke my right ankle a few years ago and now have some bone spurs and arthritis there. I had originally scheduled surgery for the bone spurs in April and we all know how that really happened. Every time the covid numbers go down to be hopeful enough to reschedule, these doofuses who eschew masks and social distancing make elective surgery not such a good idea again.
Sooooo, I soaked my feet in epsom salts and pretty warm water for a while and, while not as good as new, they do feel better. Tomorrow, I go to Fleet Feet to see about getting fitted for fancy schmancy old folks’ sneakers.
