Worked, came home. Making Caribbean style Bachelor Food.
I think I saw this plot in a movie once.;):p:D
Glad you got to talk to hubby. And I guess work will keep your mind occupied, at least a little.
Sunny, puppy pics?

And a Red Stripe
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Rain is supposed to come in tonight and hang around all day tomorrow. We shall see. Plans for the day are pretty much nuttin’. My non-spring chikin body is feelin’ the effects of yestiddy.
Butters glad you got to talk to hubs. While in Jax and if you are mobile, go visit Grace Episcopal Church in Orange Park if the chance arises. The Priest there is fantastic. She is one of my favorite people in the whole world.
Peaches sometimes there are loves that we wish we had but didn’t work out. Doesn’t mean you love hubs any less. I have one in my life. I know both of us wish it had worked out but it didn’t.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify. One must look good even in sloth mode.
Happy Firday Y’all!
I mostly slept, altho I woke at least 4 times to pee. Up now, tho.
**swampy **- my daughter went to Grace Episcopal for 2 years of preschool - they had a wonderful program there, and it was a great transition from daycare to real school. One of my fond memories of Florida.
**Peaches **- 16 or 17 years ago, my firstest boyfriend from my Navy days tracked me down on line, since I had a very rare maiden name. We’ve been in sporadic contact since then. At first, it was kinda fluttery-giddy, remembering who we were at 18 and 19 - heck, he’s the reason I started using my given name instead of my nickname. But as we got reacquainted, I found out he’d been married 3 (then 4) times, divorced thrice, one wife died of cancer, he had 5 kids, 3 of whom weren’t speaking to him (dunno if it was because of him or his exes) and he’d found religion somewhere along the way. That’s when I realized that I’d dodged a bullet, but I still got warm fuzzies thinking about 1973 in Millington, TN. Plus he lives on Arizona, so I’ll probably never see him again anyway, so he’s still that adorable teddy-bear of a guy I knew way back when.
I’m thinking I’ll do some weeding and transplanting today, and maybe tomorrow, too. I definitely have to wash whites since **FCD **is down to his last clean pair of unders. And the dishwasher needs to be emptied, plus bits of Ziva need to be vacuumed up… AGAIN… I need to bathe that cat in Nair.
Happy Firday, all!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. First day of hockey Training Camp.:D:D:D
OK, change of plans. Yeah, big surprise.
We had to run to Lowe’s for some stuff **FCD **needed for his shop. Since getting back, I’ve started laundry, I did the dishes, and I vacuumed up Ziva bits and kitteh kibbles that fell along the baseboard. Go me!! I decided to futz in the garden tomorrow instead.
Maybe I’ll use the wood cleaner on the outside of the kitchen cabinets. They’re kinda drab looking.
I don’t think it’s gonna be a day of intensive labors.
Afternoon all. We got shown round all the sooper seecrit bits of the site today (the college is only one little part of a huge tourist attraction site). I always like seeing the guts of fancy buildings, all the weird little staff bits and the mechanics of how, in this case, a massive greenhouse works. Some of it is more interesting than the big impressive public bits, if not as tidy.
Finished early, and have been adulting for the afternoon; booked my car in for its MOT (annual safety check), sorted out getting the deposit from my last place back, and organised an interview for a weekend job (not sure about it, it’s a bit far away, but at worst, interview practice is always good). Am celebrating said adulting by making pizza for dinner. Need to go shopping for more cheese first though.
Adulting around. Wanted to get Bessie inspected today but I got to the shop to find out the inspection guy is on vacation. Which meant I had a hour or so riding around for no good reason. Since I basically do this a lot anyway ----------
HEY!!! I just noticed - in the blue band at the bottom of the page, there’s a pull-down where you can select Straight Dope v3.7.3 and the board looks the way it’s supposed to look!! Am I the last one to find that?
Don’t care - I’m happy!!!
oh Moommmmm great find. I do like the old one better. Hope it stays defaulted.
There is a shuttle at 1pm to take all us refugees shopping at the NEX and commissary. I need foodstuffs and I will need clothing if I am to irk next week. I’ve been thinking I will just use some leave, rent a car and go visit my sister up near Rome Ga. I will,of course, have to get that approved. Since all my employees are elsewhere I can’t see it being a problem.
After my discovery, I noticed that Ed has a notice pinned at the top of the page, but I figured it out first!!!
Yay, now I don’t have to look at Fisher Price’s My First Website design anymore! ![]()
Good Morning All Well, I guess I missed the morning, I am having a very lazy Friday. Partly because I can.
My late sister’s best friend from her teen years is visiting NYC and she wants to get together. The request took me by surprise as we were never really friends even though we spent lots of time together, Dee even lived with us for awhile.
But there’s something I’d kind of like to talk to her about – I think.
In their early teens, my sister and Dee and Dees sister were all rampantly promiscuous and heavy drug and alcohol abusers. As an adult, I sort of came to the realization that my sister was probably sexual abused at a young age and I’m pretty sure I know who did it (not an immediate family member) But I’m not positive and I think Id like to know for sure. And I’d like to ask her but I’m out sure how to bring it up. Or if I will. Or if I do ask her, I’m not sure Dee will know.
Or maybe she wants to tell me, that might be why she wants to get together. Or she may want to apologize for being a teenaged bully( Dees sister apologized to me a few years before her death). Or we may just have a pleasant dinner with no heavy conversation.
I just don’t know and it’s on my mind.
And I have a new client that I actually like. I got a call - on a referral- for some service work. So I was getting ready to walk ( with my heavy tool laden backpack ) 5 blocks to the train - then another train, then another 5 block walk - when I get a text from new client that says " Let me know where you are and I’ll send an Uber". Which is awesome. And this never happens.
I’ve got 2 loads of laundry out on the lines and I just finished folding and putting away unders. Well, I put mine away. **FCD **can do his own. I’m not his servant!
While pairing socks and folding unders, I was watching Tiny House Hunters - that is, people hunting for tiny houses, not pygmies in search of lodging. Anyway, it reminded me why I’ve come to hate HGTV. The customer said he had a budget of $30K and he wanted a place he could move by himself. Every place he was shown required professionals to transport them, and two were $50K and $60K respectively. Yeah, way to listen to your client. Plus in each place, his mother was all “I have more cabinets in my kitchen…” Well, duh, bitch - you have a suburban tract home, not a Tiny House.
I had to turn it off. Don’t know which one he picked and don’t care. Not at all.
It’s gotten cloudy - dunno if the clothes on the lines will dry - I may need to toss them in the dryer for a quick tumble. We shall see how it goes. I’m thinking I’ll do something with fish for supper. What happened to my motivation???
FCM, my dentist usually has HGTV on while I’m getting my teeth scraped and polished, and I really have no idea who the customer market is…who watches this stuff voluntarily?
Annie, just have a ‘good to see you again’ conversation up until ordering is completed, then go with whatever you decide is best. IMHO, nothing to back it up. Hope whatever happens it’s not to stressful.
Nut, ruble, I did my adulting Wednesday and Thursday, so taking Firday off and being irresponsible.
…And that’s about it. Outside of solving the two toughest Sudoku problems of the week in the local newspaper without messing up…so I guess the brain cells are still functional.
Moommm Just hearing the words “tiny house” gives me angst these days. My hubs is obsessed with the idea of one. I can see down-sizing, but I’m too old to sleep in a loft. I think that’s for college kids. Also the kids would kill each other in a space that small.
Good luck Annie. Might as well ask her about it. It sounds like it’s been on your mind.
Congrats on learning all of the sekrits, Nut! Did you use any of our helpful suggestions for what to do on the bus?
Yay for Firday! Tomorrow we’re going to look for an RV. We’ve got the features we want all narrowed down, and I’m feeling better about the whole thing. We’ve talked about it forever. I hope having one will turn out to be worthwhile.
Pepper is having her post-lunch nap. She complained, but now she’s snoring gently in her crate.
(Yes, I’m working on the pictures.)
Sadly not, as I couldn’t find a late night sousaphone dealer. I did suggest a rousing chorus of ‘the wheels on the bus’, but no-one was very keen, for some reason.
Are you still moving over this side of the pond? They’re all tiny houses by US standards over 'ere, aside from the castles and stately homes.
I was goin’ to order majik intartoobz pizza but OYKW called to say he is full from N.O.L. still and really didn’t want anything to eat. I’m not really hungry myself so should the urge strike the fridge can be foraged.
Annie I’d ask. Enough years have gone by that if she knows anything she should be willin’ to tell you, I hope.
Nuts I like stuff like that as well.
Seasonal brought up a plate of tuna dosed with flea meds for Samantha since she just found out Frontline hasn’t worked in eight years. Samantha ate some of the tuna and went into the bedroom to digest. Thirty minutes later she upchucks on the carpet. I don’t think it was the tuna since I found leaves in it. I think she ate some of the catnip I have drying in the closet. And that’s why I had an impromptu carpet shampooing this afternoon.
