The Irma Comes To Visit MMP

Blurf. Being flown from Illinois to NASJAX today. Still have not talked to hubby though I know he survived the storm. Just about crazy with worry. Hopefully today I will get a call from one of the many people I have reached out to.

I think what we need right now is clearly more ads on tv about visiting the Caribbean. Maybe they’re “booking ahead”.

You could hire someone to do that for you; I know of a company that does that, but they ain’t exactly cheap -

AIUI, they charge an arm & a leg. :smiley:What? You had to know that was coming!

I have a small bag (it’s original purpose, never used in that manner, was a fanny pack) that I use when I go away to hold all of my chargers/cables. I just opened it to pull out a charger that I need; I put in there when I went away last weekend. It needs to go back in later as I’m going away again tomorrer morning for this weekend. :smack:

Near where we’re going on one side of the road is Reptile Land & across the street is a retirement home for former politicians. So on one side of the street, you have scaly, slimy, disgusting creatures, & on the other side of the street you have lizards & such.

I would rather visit the snakes and lizards, 'tis true.

Lunch break!!! The fatigue is really kicking my butt, but I am getting work done. I think I’ll finish the drawing Josh wants so I won’t need to come in tomorrow. So yay!

That’s all I’ve got. Can’t brain today…

Woke up early, got some stuff done, then got home and conked out for about an hour. Ah well. Drinking a second coffee now in preparation for the rest of the day’s work.

Howdy Y’all! JDD and I picked up two truck bed loads of limbs in Parrott this mornin’. WHEW! Anywho we got it all done, cleanded up, had a hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge N.O.L., visited with Miss Becky who was happy cause she did not know we’d be stoppin’ by and then swung through MickeyD’s for a biiiiiiiiiiig sweet tea before headin’ back. I napped for about an hour and now feel all refreshed. OYKW is swipin’ the General’s dindin but I have a feelin’ I won’t want to eat. Oh well, he’ll have leftovers for N.O.L. tomorrow which will make him happy.

Sunny glad you came through the thingy and are headed or are now home.

{{{gigity}}} at least you’re in a nice horsepistol where it sounds like you’ll get good care. Hope it all goes away soonest.

About 2:30 or so, I hit the proverbial wall. But I finished what needed to be done, ergo, I don’t need to go in tomorrow. We’re heading out to get some dinner, then I’m coming home to crash. I expect a very early bedtime.

On the bright side, the yarn for my grandbaby’s blanket came today - it’s gonna be purdy!!! Gotta finish what I’m working on first. But I’ve got time - the kid’s not due till April.

It doesn’t so much hurt as it’s an annoying & persistent itch, so I’ve decided that I should go on a murderous rampage.
I’m going to go to the [del]gun store[/del] supermarket & buy a [del]large caliber semi-automatic gun, along with lots of clips & ammo[/del] a can of Raid Wasp & Hornet spray & Imma gonna kill the little S.O.B. &/or many of it’s siblings, cousins, &/or roommates!

OYKW stole the General’s dindin along with aigrolls and wonton soup. I et soup and an aigroll. Thus he has some General’ N.O.L. for tomorrow.

While JDD and I were visitin’ Miss Becky, he mentioned that we had been to Parrott to pick up limbs and were both feelin’ it which was and is true. Miss Becky said, “well y’all are not spring chikins anymore.” We got a good laugh out of that. Plus it was cause to make chikin noises on the ride back home. A lot of cars with Flarduh tags were headed south. Hope they find everything OK at home.

Spidey it is a well-known fact that yellow jackets, wasps and hornets are assholes and deserve to die horrible deaths. Jawja Tech is known as the yellow jackets. UGA folks point that out as proof yellow jackets are assholes.

I got stung by a big ol’ black wasp last week, right between the shoulder blades. Raid worked fine on the nest, but poor Tony had to talk me out of using the shotgun. It would have been satisfying, but the hole in the porch roof would have been annoying, I’m sure. But it still itches, and I can’t reach to scratch!

Glad at least one of us has good drugs, (((giggity)))! ('Tho morphine makes me itch and puke. Glad it’s working for you, though. Sounds like a load of not fun!)

Big hugs for ** {{{Butters}}}**. Not knowing is awful.

Went to SmallMart today to restock perishables for my house and The Boy’s. My EBT balance is sort of ludicrous, so I’m putting together a shopping list of donations to the local food pantry - a lot of resources are currently going to the coastal areas that got hammered, so I’m looking at restocking for local needs. Everybody donates when there’s a disaster, but it falls off when it’s just hungry neighbors, you know? Also discussing putting together a little community cookbook, because the pantry/kitchen needs a new roof. I may jump over to Cafe Society to ask for po’ folk recipes. Even if we don’t do a cookbook fundraiser, it might be nice to have a recipe to attach to a bag of ingredients, so that recipients don’t have to play Chopped, Charity Edition.

And I’m already thinking about my Halloween costume, because I want to crash The Boy’s party, incognito. He’s having a handful of local (college) bands over to perform. But each band will be dressed as another band, covering their songs. Realistically, I can’t go, but I’d love to be a fly on that wall!

We did Red Robin for supper, and now we’re home in chill mode. Both of us intend to crash early tonight.

I have a small cat I can lend out to those with yellow jacket problems. Tiny Tabby likes to torture wasps and she needs something to keep her busy besides knocking over the upstairs food bowl.

Heard from hubby today. He is fine and says he has everything he needs. The call had
terrible reception but it was enough to ease my mind. We are now ensconced in a hotel on NAS Jax. Looks like we will be here for a while and they plan to put us to irk.

Glad you’re getting things under control 2gig.

Like a couple of others, I can’t do demerol. It took six days of throwing up in the horsepistol to figure that out.

It began warming up and drying out today, so’s I’m hopeful for the weekend. We’re doing brunch in the park Saturday. I’m taking cheesy grits casserole and dog biscuits for Nelson and any other pooch who attends.

Worked and had leftover chili from what seems to be the endless batch of chili. And there is still more left. I blame trolls.

It’s the middle of the night, and I can whisper this:

I has a conversation with the very dear old friend, wishing him safety and good health during our recent hurricane. I made a silly reference to The Princess Bride. He bade me “as you wish.”

Dammit, he coulda said so 30 years ago. It never worked for long, but I have loved him since I was 14 and he was 16.

I adore my husband, even when I want to smother him with a pillow. But I am maybe in love with the ideal of my first love. We’ve had a complicated 3.5 decade relationship, which includes real friendship.

I didn’t need “as you wish.” But I am flattered.

Butters glad you talked to hubs. Sorry it’s such a mess done there. I’m glad the Navy is taking care of y’all.

I can do Demerol, but am rarely offered the chance. Of course, I’m rarely wanting the chance, since it usually involves horribly fractured limbs and things of that nature.

Pepper pup was very happy to see me. She has grown while I was gone. Her head has almost caught up with her ears, but her tail is now silly long. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think tonight it will be an early night. I’m supposed to take it early being all sedated yesterday. I must admit I’m not at my perkiest. I am glad to be home. Nothing like your own bed and family.

Peaches I have a couple of recipes in mind for your cookbook. I’ll see if I can dig them up. ETA: Sorry he hit at your sore spot. {{{hugs}}}

Butters, glad husband unit is fine and you could talk to him. Probably did him some good, too, to hear your voice.

Peaches, there is nothing saying you can only love one person at a time; marry only one, yes, them’s pretty much the rules, but love is something that can cover a lot of people.

Finally was able to have a soccer practice, but several of the girls are sick so only had 4 players out. Still the temperature was about 71F, so an absolutely beautiful day, with more sunshine expected the next 4-5 days.

Given I wasn’t the only one stung, & the fact that it happened in a state park, Tiny Tabby might just come home with a Park Ranger’s badge.
Gotta pack everything for this weekend but I gotta case of the Doanwannas.
