The Irma Comes To Visit MMP

lol our fat mooses Clyde and calie have to be taken to petsmart to be groomed because they almost don’t fit in out sinks and weigh about 10 pounds a piece

Howdy Y’all! We went to the has gotten awful Chinese [del]hog trough[/del] buffet for N.O.L. I told OYKW I am done with that place same ol’ stuff over and over and has gotten so bland and tasteless. ICK! Still no rain but clouds everywhere.

Hey folks, just dropping by to say I had the surgery yesterday without issues and now I’m waiting to be discharged.

Probably stay home a week then get back to work.

Thanks for all the well wishes and I’ll try to check in soon.

Good news 2gig. Hope you heal fast.

Another day another $51 per diem. I spent $68 on food yesterday that could hold me for a week. Some people are bitching that this is not enough. Whiny bitches.

The Navy will not allow anyone home until the power is on and I’m OK with that. Hubby is stressed. Said he is not having fun. At least I can talk to him. Our generator is blowing oil so he has ordered three 6500’s dual fuel because it looks like it may be another month before we get power.

Our island, Big Pine Key, took the right side eye wall for 45 minutes so is the absolute most damaged of all the islands. Hubby did lose his work van and his car which was his Mother’s so older but my car was saved by parking it on the bridge approach near the house. With him working out of it and hauling crap to the dump it may be ruined anyway.

He has a rain barrel next door that holds 350 gallons he is using for flushing the toilet. He robbed a propane tank from another neighbor. I guess with permission. Other neighbors have told him to take whatever he needs if he can get to it. He said there are thousands of rescue workers from all over the country and the world. There was a psycho trauma group from Israel to counsel people that stayed.

Hubby is resilient and will make tons of money from installing new A/C’s when power comes back and insurance claims are filed.

So here I sit. I did get a colleague who is staying off base to bring me a case of beer to share with my friend. Our letter giving us NEX privilege does not include sin items like alcohol and cigarettes. The hotel is providing a daily shuttle to the stores if we need that. No more talk so far about going to work which is a good thing cause I do not want to leave Lucky Louie for 8 hours alone in a strange place.

If this drags on I shall rent a car so I can get out and explore a little.

I have never bathed a cat. Never.

butters, I hope you make your way to the Keys soon.

Moooom, the last kitteh I bathed was Figaro (aka PsychoKitty). Like big kitty’s puddy tat, she had a flea allergy. Baths were usually not too bad for her, as she knew that the water would soothe her skin. Tomorrow, I do get to give a puppy a bath though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay 2gig! I’m glad progress is being made.

I brunched in the park on the snooty side of town with the heathens this morning. The cheese grits were a hit and Nelson even a bigger one. He got to be spoiled by a bunch of folks, hang out with a beagle and a golden retreiver and sniff butts and such. We also met a black lab named Nelson in the ladies’ loo. The came in while we were in a stall and I said “sit Nelson”. She asked if I had a dog with me and what his name was then we laughed. Her pooch was named for a Green Bay Packer.

Good news, tugig! Enjoy your recuperation! We expect to see more of you while you’re at home being a slacker!

I watched 3 episodes of House of Cards. **FCD **got bored with it last time we watched but I have to see how it ends - this is the last season, isn’t it? I’ve also made a lot of progress on the shades-of-brown afghan. So it’s been a productive but lazy afternoon.

gigity yay for successful surgery and gettin’ sprung from the horsepistol soon.

Next year Ash Wednesday will fall on February 14th, Valentine’s Day (duh!) and Easter will fall on April 1st, April Fool’s Day (duh!). The evil in me wants so bad to play an AF trick or three on Easter Sunday Mornin’ in church. Ideas so far have been a stink bomb in the incense, whoopee cushions under the kneelers at the Communion Rail, habanero flavored Communion Wafers, grape soda in the Chalice, and Altar candles that won’t extinguish. We have a new Priest comin’ October 1st. I don’t know whether to wait and ask him for ideas or just go ahead and form a committee. With just around six months to plan, I feel we should get started asap.

I dunno Swampy, some of those ideas seem wrong for Easter. I’d go with the candles maybe.

2Gig here’s to a speedy recovery.

Butters I’m glad things are chugging along, but sorry it’s still such a long road before you get home.

We are now down to three indoor cats. Nobody’s seen Outside Cat Adam in about a week. This morning Irish Storyteller found him under the front porch. He is now under a big quartz rock on top of the hill yard. (Adam Cat, not Irish Storyteller. The Irish are on their way to the Outer Banks. Place to myself for a week! Woo-hoo!)

Fried chikin laigs, green beans, smashed N.O.T. with gravy and rolls made for a good dindin. YUM!

**{{{BigKitty}}} sorry about Adam.

Sunny I am considerin’ instead of grape soda, we put fake boogers in the Chalices.

2gig, glad that the doctorin’ went well, hope you’re back up and at it (Carefully) in about a week.

Butters, when you despair, just remember you’re in better shape than a hell of a lot of people (remember Houston got hit too and their recovery efforts are still ongoing, albeit out of the news now). Sounds like hubby may be lonely, but is being effective.

Big Kitty, condolences for Adams’ demise.

Never bathed a cat.

Had to referee one of the kids’ games due to lack of referees, and our 1 PM 6U got rained out. Storm was very local, I went 15 miles North and they never saw a drop, refereed for 90 minutes and am now trying to work up the ambition to go take a nice long bath (“A shower is only a shower, but a nice, long, hot bath is a SOAK”).

Nice day all in all. Got to shoot Brits even if they did get to win the battle ---- well, after all its the Penn’s Colony Festival and not DuQuesne’s Colony Festival. Nice dinner and now its time to kick back, treat a couple blisters (I wore my cheap buckle shoes and not my good ones – error on my part) and get ready for tomorrow.

{{{big kitty}}}

Work was OK. Went out to the Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day Party. We had the one piper play “Rocky Top”, the Star Wars Theme, and “Hava Nagailah”

Yay beer! Boo wrecked cars. And I helped bathe Lucretia D. Hellcatt once. Once.
And $51 a day? If I have access to a kitchen, then I could make 2 people eat like kings.

You should have done “Alternate History Day” and let the Englsih lose.

{{{{BigKitty}}}} Sorry about Adam. But enjoy your solitude.

Motion seconded.

Sorry about Adam-cat, Big Kitty.

Swampy, you’re a mean one.

Bathing cats is a rare event for me, usually only when said cat has a major flea problem or smells bad. Felix (RB) considered such actions a declaration of war, and he was quite large and muscular, with all claws and teeth present and battle-ready. Allie doesn’t get aggressive about it, but she makes very intense efforts to get away, and a wet soapy Siamese is very hard to keep confined.

That will be today when we rescue the settlers from being forced to grow up saying “yinz”.

The last cat I bathed was a teeny little tortoiseshell. Belonged to my brother’s future first ex wife. I don’t remember the cat’s name, but it was Japanese for “tiger fart.” Damn near kilt me! (There was a flea problem. I had already bathed my giant orange Tom, and the roommate/future ex SIL’s Tom, and the kittens. I still have scars from that damned 5# girl, though. I tried to warn my brother that he ought not marry a gal who wouldn’t take care of her own damned cats, but he learned that the hard way.)

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall see. Plans today include deheathenization (I have ush duty), leftover fried chikin, green beans plus I shall make some rice. We et up the smashed N.O.T. but there’s still some gravy so rice 'n gravy will do just fine. After that sloth shall ensue.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I should consider purtification for deheathenization. Truth be told, if’n I didn’t have ush duty I might not go. Not real motivated this mornin’.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Going to The Caniac Carnival to kick off hockey season.
