Anyway Midget, you don’t have to be mean to her, but you don’t have to let her be mean to you. If it were your bf or husband talking to you that way, everybody would be telling you to dump the abusive jerk. She is not your parent, not your boss, not your superior, you are not a child and don’t deserve to be treated like one.
The thing is, I don’t try to be mean, but she finds a lot of my behaviour weird or rude, if not downright mean. Could be partly the situation of an autistic person living with an ableist neurotypical, or could also partly be that we have a lot of differences besides mental function.
Or it could be that she is just an asshole.
Midget, everyone does things that others would consider weird, or even sometimes rude. No one’s perfect. That’s no excuse to treat others poorly or let others treat you poorly. When she’s calling you names and accuses you of using autism as a crutch, just let her know that even “normal” people like her do weird or bad things… like pick fights with people about stupid things like toilet paper. (Or fill in the blank with whatever stupid thing triggered her.) Then walk away and let it sink in.

My ex-bf, woke me up one night by punching me in the belly. He was using the side of his fist, it didn’t hurt at all, but it was still enough to wake me up. I asked what he was doing, that woke him up and he said he had been dreaming he was back in Nam, thought he had a knife in his hand, and that I was the enemy.
I didn’t sleep too well after that.
Anyway Spidey, you need to feel some stabbing pain for that ear worm… ugh, I need to go find some heavy metal to blast it out of my head.

Midget, you are a better person than she is, but that doesn’t mean that you should let her bully you*. I suspect that if you were watching her treat someone else you know like this, you would be furious on their behalf. You don’t need to call her names, but don’t let her nonsense bother you. If you can find a new roommate, I think you should. You can’t please her and she’s making you miserable. Moving is a pain in the ass, but I think it would be well worth it in this case.
If you can’t move because you signed a lease, then just don’t speak to her. You can both exist in a state of armed truce for the rest of your tenure. You could also investigate sub-letting, or finding her another roommate.
The point is that you are a good person and you deserve a safe living situation.
*She sounds like a roommate I had who got mad at me for weeks because she couldn’t find the pen we kept by the phone. Or, wait, another one, who left the windows open in winter when I had pneumonia so she wouldn’t get sick.
Howdy Y’all! I laundered, ahrned, watched Netflix, and made sup which has been et. Been a right chilly but N.O.S. day. Tomorrow I shall be out and about the public twice. Ick.
Midget I say find another place to live just as soon as you can. I doubt anybody could stand to live with your roommate, especially for as long as you have.

Ouch baker! Part of the no energy thing when you’re injured is the very act of gimping. When I’ve injured knees, feet, etc, I expend more energy doing the things that I have to do but with a limp. I also wind up with a back ache.

emily, my guess is that your roommate is a bully and an asshole. While it’s not easy living with someone with autism, it’s also not easy living with a neurotypical person who’s an asshole.

I got a lot of crap done at irk today. Tomorrow, I’ll help one of my cow-orkers clean up her queue for EoM. The other one can kiss my ass. She’s had a semi empty queue all day today and is bitching and moaning about how neither of us helped her out. :eek: Starting a new short project in the studio tonight.
Nothing much to report, was too lazy to even get properly dressed and check the mail. One problem is I picked up a book at the Illinois library near my brothers’ place (.50 cents for a 700-page book on the Blair government in Britain) and am reading it off and on.
No nappage, so I’ll be heading off to bed at a decent hour.

Akiko-pup went to the dog park for the first time today. She had the most fun ever (according to her). She ran and ran, and dogs chased her, and she chased dogs. A good time was had by all. She’s curled up in an exhausted heap now.

I could tell horror tales about renting to roommates when I owned a house…including the night the house was raided by the la county sheriffs………
but my cousin had an roommate in the 90s that was ocd to the point of being unstable and dangerous and she owed my cousin like 3 months rent (and it wasn’t my cousins house) …my cousin ran up a fortune in ppv cable fees …aol fees and long distance then left at 3 am and never went back…last we heard shed ended up in an assisted living situation because she hadn’t paid various bills in years and was using info to open things in their name…….
