The "It's Freezing Out There" MMP

It’s a sleepy day today.
Getting some stuff done, although you’d never know by looking.
The problem is I keep hopping from one thing to another, I am turning into my friend.

My friend Beverly, I am just going to call her by her name, is a very sweet lady, but also very disorganized.
She has a friend named Roger, who I wish would come back for a visit, (he lives in Oklahoma, I think, or maybe Texas or Alabama, I don’t know, he moves around a lot), because I’d love for him to come out to my house and do some work for me. He has excellent taste in decorating combined with the manly strength and carpentry skills to get the heavy stuff done.
He is also one of those people who can find the gems in a second hand junk store.
Anyway, one day Roger told Beverly he would help her clean out her attic. He designated a spot for trash, a spot for keep, and a spot for donate. He told her to start in one corner and he would start in the opposite corner, and to just keep on going.
Good plan, except Beverly is a very scattered person.
So she found something in the attic that belonged in the kitchen, so she took it down two floors to the kitchen, where she noticed the dishwasher needed to be loaded, and while she was at it she may as well take that load of laundry down to the basement and get it started, and then she figured since she was back in the kitchen she should start making lunch and when she opened the fridge she saw a spill that needed to be cleaned up, and maybe she should go to the store because she was almost out of mustard…
There are times when I visit her I just want to grab her and say please stop. She is like a bird that flits from place to place to place and never sits still, and everything is half done, as she will put on water for tea, and start to unload the dishwasher, and then get out a cup for me, and then remember she needs one for herself, and meanwhile the water is boiling, as ahe opens her mail, and sets it down when she realizes we need tea bags, and where is the sugar or would I rather have honey, and maybe a piece of bread with some butter would be nice as she pours some cat food into their bowl and pulls out a hot dog to cut up for the dog, and then she notices the water is boiling, and gets out a plate for some cookies, and the water is still boiling, and we need spoons…

That has been my day today. I was melting butter in a skillet to make breakfast when I noticed the dog’s treat jar was empty, so I went to get treats to fill the jar, only then I noticed that the dog wanted back in, and the cat was staring at an empty water bowl, so I gave the cat some water, and let the dog in, it was only when I needed the scissors to open the bag of treats that I saw the butter melting in the skillet on the stove and remembered that I had started out to make some breakfast… and this has been my entire day.
I hate being scattered, because even though I am busy nothing is getting done.

Another lovely day in the Midwest. Pouring rain, 36 degrees. Rode Ariel, did some crafting with the my friend, and am home in my pjs. I’m hoping there is a good Christmas movie on tonight.

Afternoon all. Spent most of the day (8am-2pm) with indoor soccer for the 4-5-6-7 year olds. Fascinating to watch the changes in just one year’s difference in age, the 4’s were quiet and not real active (two couldn’t be persuaded to join group activities but did just fine with one-to-one coaching), the 5’s listened and learned, and the 6-7 were just wild, man…but I did have parents and coaches there so we made at least some order from the chaos.

Sari, I think we all do that, start something and then see something else and go do that and forget about the first item; your friend just takes it to the nth degree.

Rainy and icky here too, swampy; don’t think I’ll be going out the rest of the day. Nappage is a definite possibility.

ruble, hope you and the rest of the Santa’s have fun. But drink responsibly; wouldn’t want some 4 year old to see a line of drunk Santa’s now, would you?

The thing is, I usually do NOT forget.
Sure I can start breakfast, and put the dog out, and feed the cat, but I don’t forget that I have started breakfast.
Usually if I start something I will finish it, but not today.

I sat down three times today to start my son’s FAFSA. Each time I got distracted and did something else.
Finally I got into the FAFSA, and can y’all hear me cussing half way across the country?
There is a problem with transferring my tax information and every GD time it kicks me out and I have to start all over from the beginning.
I don’t know if I am doing something wrong, or there is a system problem, because like all the other bullshit websites out there it doesn’t give you an error message other than there is a problem.

When I was a programmer we had to write descriptive error messages so the end user knew wth was wrong.
Then again, most websites today would have gotten me fired because they are shit.

There was a family story involving me as a child and a drunken Santa, but alas, I do not recall it and everyone else has died, including, presumably the above mentioned drunken Santa.

Howdy Y’all! It’s a dark and stormy night in southwest Jawja. We now have a TORNADO WATCH in addition to the FLASH FLOOD WATCH. Just ick! Tomorrow is more of the same. Suppose to be that Moanday and Tuesday but now TWPTB say not so much. Anywho the weather map shows a big swatch of Not Our RED on top of us. We supped upon bacon cheeseburgers 'n fixin’s with oven baked steak fries. 'Twas good.

its freezing for here the house looks like Christmas cat puked all the decorations in piles around the house …. tho aunt will take care of that eventually ……nephew was hyper and chattering today and gave me a headache (hes 8 and cute but until kids are 10 or so I like them in limited doses) but finally remembered he has a home other than here much to my aunts dismay …….
So im by myself and enjoying the brief silence ……

wet one, today’s weather in your part of the midwest is what inspired a discussion years ago when we were up north for Thanksgiving. My niece and I decided that if there’s a hell, it’s 36F and raining. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got a lot of things done around the house today. Right now, I’m watching a documentary about Edward I.

Worked, came hmoe. 60s and rainy here. Next day off with be the 11th.

Ruble one of these days I will make it up for Santarchy.

I think I feel a little better now.

I am home. I think. Some home. The computer works. That is good.

Plus I am first. More to follow once my spellcheck stops threatening me.

Good. I like having you around.

Good to hear! In addition to the 150 or so Santas from the lower 48 we had 5 from Toronto. It made me think of you a lot today. Times are often bad but hang in there. You may not always feel important to yourself but you are vitally important to me and the Old Wench. Hugs your way.

{{{Midget}}}

I have a lot of friends and family in Toronto. I enjoy going there.

Toronto is about 6 hours from Montreal. Once, I mentioned on a message board that I was selling my crafts at a craft fair, and a poster from Jamaica said “I have relatives in Canada! Maybe I can send them to your craft fair.” I asked him where they lived, and he said Toronto. A bit far to go for a day trip (though I did it once.)

Speaking of craft fairs, mine went well today. I didn’t have as much to sell as I’d hoped, which was too bad, because I made a lot of sales with what I did have. It was good.

Glad you’re feeling better Midget.

I’ve had two nights in a row where I’ve gone to bed at a sensible time, feeling tired, then not got to sleep 'til about 4am, then crashed until nearly 11, and woke up feeling exhausted. Not impressed, I had stuff I wanted to do.

I think it’s partly the really heavy rain showers we’ve been having- they’re so loud in my room, and I never could sleep with earplugs in.

In short, blurf.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and stormy with a predicted high of 76 for the day and stormy. Actually, I have been up since about three-thirty. We have had two tornado warnin’s and massive tstorms. Right now we have a TORNADO WATCH, FLASH FLOOD WARNIN’, FLOOD ADVISORY, AND FLASH FLOOD WATCH in effect throughout much of the day. I shall see what the weather does over the next couple of hours and decide whether or not to deheathenate. As of now I am leanin’ towards stayin’ in da cave. As I post there seems to be a lull, but I know more is on the way. ICK!

{{{Midget}}} yay for a good craft fair and things lookin’ up. Like ruble said, there are an awful lot of folks here that glad you’re around.

Ruble I gather a good time was had by all. We anxiously await details.

Now I shall have more caffeine and feed rumbly tummy. Then we shall see what the weather does. In the past two years this area has had a big straight line windstorm, two tornadoes, and a hurricane. Needless to say we are kinda shell shocked when it comes to massive weather fronts.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up ,caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

A drunken Mumperfest? I’m in!
Swampy, Flashin’ is when one doesn’t wear pants & floods is when one’s pants is too short. How can they possibly be in the same forecast? One is either wearing pants or not.

Dogs, OTOH, don’t like shirts because every knows that when a dog gets hot it just pants. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Sunday!

Well not really happy, but it is Sunday.

It was supposed to be clear and warm today but it is raining.
I wanted to get some yard irk done today but that won’t happen unless it clears up.

You’d think I’d be less grumpy since I slept in until 7:30 this morning.
Of course going back out to irk on the FAFSA did nothing to improve my mood. I still can’t connect to the IRS, still getting the non descriptive error message.
I’ll have to call somebody tomorrow, and having to talk to some dumb ass human irks the fuck out of me.
At least my son finally turned in his business paper so I don’t have to listen to that shit anymore.
Now he has to write a paper on Carlos Santana.

I need him to be done with this stuff so he can help me do some stuff around here.
