I’m just hoping that ghetto zoo complex next one over doesn’t have residents who get gunfire-happy at midnight.
It’s been noisy here, lots of fire works that started hours ago. My dog is snoring away.
I’ve still got a few hours. I hope.
My dad just played a New Year’s noisemaker app without warning anybody and it sent the rest of us rushing around the house in a mild panic because the tinny little horn sounded exactly like an animal in deep distress and we were trying to figure out which cat was hurt. Thanks Dad.
Went to the hockey game. Canes won. Got to finally meet Hockey Lady in person. Got a couple of hugs.
Happy Butterversary!
Happy Birthday Baker!
Nettie, I lived in da Hood for 20 years. There was very little gunfire. During New Years. Otherwise.
sari, Gordie is too stupid too notice noise.
Happy New Year!
Up, caffeinated, off to work. Happy First!
Same here!
Speaking of birthdays, tomorrow is Oldest Sister’s and I have failed to get her a card. Looks like I’ll be shopping on the late side of the card aisle today!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 degrees Amurrkin out and rainin’ with a predicted high of 58 and more rain today and tomorrow. Oh well. This shall not put a damper (HAR!) on the day’s activities.
Peas are in the slow cooker doin’ their thang. They should be just right come N.O.L. time when the eatin’ shall commence. The other big stuff involves fryin’ chikin boobs, laigs, and thighs along with cookin’ rice and makin’ cornbread. The greens will just need to be heated up and that’s no biggie. The chikin will be the time consumin’ thing cause da bear believes in fryin’ chikin low and slow so it’s thoroughly cooked but not dry, especially the boobs.
Ok, I need to get a little bit of a move on, I guess. I do need some sustenance for rumbly tummy. I should also maybe go ahead and purtify even though somebody* is still bein’ a slug a bed.
gt hope the nephew and you are feelin’ better soonest!
HAPPY NEW YEAR Y’ALL!!!
I deliberately stayed up way later than I wanted to so Higgs would be tired and sleep in. Lemme tell you how that worked out - she woke me at 4:40. Idiot. I let her out to pee, then went back to be, and she eventually settled down to snooze again, taking a break to poop in the family room. I woke again a bit before 7, and now I’m showered, dressed, and eating a peach yogurt. Happy New Year to me.
I’ve stripped the bed, and once I’m done eating, I’ll get the sheets into the washer. I need to clean the kitchen, too - I couldn’t be bothered to do the dishes last night. And I may venture forth into the wilds of California to Michael’s or JoAnn’s - I decided to use up some random yarn to make a lap blanket, but I don’t quite have enough of this particular type of yarn, so I need another skein or 2. I’ve also got to box up the modem I gave away in the Marketplace forum and get it on its way to Chicago as soon as I get to the post office.
So knittage and TV will comprise most of my day. Which is good - Saturday, I’ve got to do a water change for the stoopit fishies, plus I’ve got to build/buy a veggie tray for my mother’s b-day party on Sunday. It’s gonna be a long day for me for 2-ish hours of hanging out in the bar where my sister works. 2 hours to drive there and arrive early enough to help set up, a couple of hours of socializing in a noisy, dark environment, and 2 hours back home to whatever surprises Higgs leaves for me. Not gonna be a very relaxing weekend.
And I wish my sweetie would get back soon. Happy New Year anyway…
There’s also potato kugel. And noodle kugel can be sweet or savory. The one I had was sweet with apples and raisins and lots of yum
I miss being able to look out the front window of my house and seeing the fireworks being set off in the middle of town. I heard some way in the distance, but couldn’t see any.
Happy Humping New Year!
I woke up to a room that is spinning.
I will go to my friends party, I am bring the barbeque pork and the drinks.
It’s a cold grey 28 degrees with a projected high of 42.
**sari **- did you look at Firday’s forecast? Highs in the low 20s!! Stoopit winter!!!
I saw, and that is why I am dragging Sah-son out tomorrow to go grocery shopping. I want to be able to stay indoors while it is cold.
We’re getting snow all day tomorrow, and on into Friday.
Dishes are done (well, they will be when the dishwasher is thru its cycle) sheets are in the washer, dog has been given her heartworm and de-flea stuff, and I even changed the furnace filter! I’ve got the water maker running - we were down to 12 gallons, and I need 35 to do a water change.
I’m going to call JoAnn’s to be sure they’re open today. I’ve got a coupon, plus the yarn I want is on sale (and the coupon is good on sale items! )
All that, and it’s not even 10AM!
Happy New Year!
You won “Most points in a themed list”.
Quit your bellyachin’.
Howdy! Everything is movin’ right along at Chez Swamp. Guests should start arrivin’ shortly. JDD and Partner are bringin’ some munchies (cheese ‘n crackers I think) and MOG informs me she’s bringin’ a couple bottles of champagne so’s we can have a proper New Year’s toast. Apparently one must have champagne for it to be proper. Hey, we pride ourselves on bein’ all proper and couth.
Chikin fryin’ shall commence shortly. I do that on the back porch cause I can set up my biiiiiif electric fryin’ thingy up and have lots of room to work. Plus, I prefer to do stuff like fryin’ out there. It’s still dreary/rainy out but folks can come hang on the porch if they wish cause the temp is actually a mild 51 Amurrkin as I post, so a sweater or light jacket is comfy out there.
Anywho, need to get a move on I reckon.
Laterz!
Got up at 9 to head into work (after getting back about 3am)- just put the kettle on for coffee, and got texted- footy match is rained off -the pitch is too wet to play on- so went back to bed for another mumble hours.
Hence, far from being the busy day I was expecting, today is laaaaazy.
Though it should have been time-and-a-half today, I ain’t that sorry. I’ve not been sleeping well, and I was exhausted when I got up earlier.
Work was OK last night- very little trouble at all, it was a nice family type pub, of the kind where everyone knows everyone. They don’t normally have security but apparently someone had got very drunk last week and smashed a door, and he’d threatened to come back and repeat the exercise. They didn’t think he would, it just seemed better safe than sorry, especially as they had several little kiddies staying up late to welcome in the new year.
Anyway, today I shall mostly be doing nothing.
