Good morning each and every one of you. It is a wonderful day, so good I even listened to the Talking Camel. Ho ho ho, that is so funny, I must listen to it every Wednesday.
I am so full of love and respect for all of my co-workers this fine day. Each and every one of them is smart, beautiful, and performs their job to the best of their abilities. And they are in no way responsible for me going three consecutive work days without being able to process any sales orders, update inventory levels, order supplies or in any small way do what I am paid to do.
Planting is done!!! Rain is on the way, and it should dissolve the miracle gro that I spread among the plants. If not, I’ll water it myself tomorrow. Here’s hoping it all grows and fills in fast!
A guy came this morning and bought our inflatable dinghy. Another guy is coming on Saturday to see the other dinghy. Yay for Craigslist! Plus I’ve done my grocery shopping, so we can eat for another week or so. That’s always good.
Happy news to report: Former rental daughter Lauren was capped as an RN last night. It is a monumental week for her, because Saturday she is getting married and VWife and I will be traveling to Cottonfield County to attend.
She also has a job at Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA, one of my former haunts when I was a member of the Cottonfield County Rescue Squad. She will have time for a honeymoon before she starts.
I’ll have some of whatever Sean is havin’. It appears to induce much happiness.
Rosie now you know MOOOOOOM can’t have just a shed. It must be a classy shed.
Speakin’ of MOOOOOOM, you will be proud to know that tonight’s dindin includes used meat. I bought some riblets that were reduced for quick sale. I shall grill them. I took a quart bag of frozen baked beans outta da freezer and have some leftover coleslaw so that will make for another simple and easy, like I like my men, dindin.
Other than that, irk is not as irksome as it could be, so there’s that.
I struck out on the used meat front today - nary a container was marked down. But I got a whole chickie for 99¢/lb, which works for me. It’s in the freezer for a future meal.
I’m showered and dressed in comfy sweats. I don’t intend to venture out any more. I think I’ll plop down in my recliner for a while. Or nap. Or nap in my recliner. Whatever works.
Happy Wednesday everyone. At least the week is half over, right?
My cousin got out of the hospital on Saturday afternoon, so we’ve been catching up on our emails, yay! She does not have a tablet, nor does she even have a cell phone (though I did suggest she get one in case of emergency), so we’ve only been able to talk on the phone while she was in hospital. She’s feeling better, although spending time catching up on her sleep. You know how hard it is to get any good sleep (longer than 3-4 hours at a stretch) in hospitals! So thanks everyone for all your kind thoughts and prayers, they worked.
Nurse, you’re in my thoughts and prayers, and I also hope the FCD is feeling better soon, so am sending healing thoughts his way. I know I’m missing others too; forgive my elderly brain, please, but know you are in my thoughts and prayers also.
Yesterday, my daughter and I went to a nursery to get some plants. I only got house plants; I was originally going to get a couple of plants for the patio, but I decided to work on the inside first. My patio is very shaded, by a large pine. It does not get much sun at all, so I suspect I’ll have to discuss that with the workers at the nursery. They can probably suggest at least a few plants that will tolerate those conditions. I hope. I got a lot of succulents, which I am hoping will work out okay in the climate here. They should. And I have not one but two aloe plants now! I also got a nice sized snake (mother-in-law’s-tongue) plant, the varigated kind, which is so very pretty. I just want my plants to be happy and give off lots of nice oxygen.
BBBBobbio, my cousin was in the hospital where rental daughter Lauren will be working! Congrats to her, btw, and I hope you and V-Wife enjoy your visit to Cottonfield County.
I need a better street: Bandit Walnut. The Bandit is fine, but the second half needs another syllable and a meter that doesn’t start with a stressed syllable. de Walnut? de Walnutter?
Well, Stockton has semi-pro baseball and hockey. Cheaper tickets and closer seats.
To get to earthquakes and mudslides, you’d have to head at least 40 miles toward the coast. For brush fires you’d have to go further. Dry as the heat is, it does hit over a hundred at least a few weeks a year.
Darn. And we have such a nicely depressed housing market, too. If you change your landmark to east of the San Joaquin River, let me know. I can scout locations. Maybe we can take over one of the residential hotels downtown.
As the weather heats up, this is the second month with a utility bill less that $160. Yay, insulation. And the oak tree that was a foot from the bathroom window and cracking the foundation has been removed. The siding on that side will be replaced Memorial Day Weekend. Then I’ll have insulation on 3 sides.
Put that together with the foxtails being gone from the back yard and I may swoon with glee. On the down side, the neighbor’s large screen TV was swiped the day that the tree was removed. That cast a bit of a pall.
But having the tree gone lets a lot more light in. I’m going to enjoy it.
I live in Sacramento, and would NOT want to live in Stockton. Huge violent crime problem there.
Day off today, slept for something like 15 hours total. I’ve been running on massive sleep deprivation lately “thanks” to snoring DH. I think I even feel mostly human today.
No known plans for the day other than servicing the Princess’ litterbox. I’m sure there’s other stuff I should be doing, but I don’t really want to.
Howdy from da cave! Grill is fired up and ribs are doin’ their thang on a low heat. All I did to ‘em was a little dry rub. They’re not big so it won’t take awful long to grill ‘em up. There’s a little bone in each one which I kinda like for grillin’/smokin’ purposes. Should be nummy!
Rockin’ I do enough sneezin’ and nose honkin’ on my own so thanks for the suggestion but no need to turn on the waterworks. Besides, most of those kinds of movies tend to make me want to make fun of 'em. I am evile like that.
Herbs yay for cousin bein’ home and on the mend!
Yeller yay for gettin’ stuff done!
Ok, need to go turn ribs and throw the beans in the oven. Ok, I’ll put ‘em in a pan first instead of just openin’ the oven door and tossin’ 'em in. That would mean I’d have to clean the oven and we don’t want that, now do we!
I went out and sat in the sun for about an hour. Now I’m all red. Good grief. I don’t tan. I just turn red, and stay red. I don’t know what the hell is up with that. Oh well. I guess the Sicilian bits didn’t take with me. It’s the English/Irish bits that are prominent. Stupid genes. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I’d really prefer to have a bit of color that isn’t red.
I was out in the gardens, and saw that one of the Black Pearl cherry tomato plants is putting out blooms. That’s good. I cut my chives, too, since I was out there. They’re awaiting a good chopping, and will go to live in an olive oil and butter mixture, in the freezer.
I’m a bit hungry, so I guess I’ll go start dinner.
