The NYC Dopefest Morning After Thread (Linked! Don't Delete!)

Don’t do it, Saxy! He’ll try to borrow money!

Wow, you hear that, andygirl, we were right there on the same highway with a senator.

Sheeeeeaaaat . . . And you say I make understatements. . .

Hillary Clinton (with Bill standing by) was ceremonially sworn in as Senator by Al Gore in NYC Sunday morning.

This was later than that, Nemo, probably about 2:45 in the afternoon. It started just out of the tunnel (is there a heliport there?) and they got off at 42nd Street. I thought it might be a U.N. delegate or something.

Well, we were actually IN Chelsea…

(I think the usual def of the Village ends on the south side of 14th. That puts the Idiot in Chelsea. I also have this problem with SOHO Billiards on the N side of Houston)

also note they are trying to rename Hells Kitchen Clinton. Not by me, I don’t rename. Interboro parkway, west side highway, etc. To be fair, if I go to DC, I fly into National. Not Reagan.

GAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! you wanna talk about priceless…that was it right there. I swear, I’m still occasionally pondering a big ol’ mech trying to find an appropriate place to squat…

Tripler: I never said I wasn’t a master (mistress?) of understatement. Folks keep making the mistake of taking me too damned SERIOUSLY.

Hama, if what I saw was shy, Bill Clinton must be a shy, honest gay man.

Heliport is on E. side nearer UN. Used to land on Pan Am, till a blade broke and killed some guy 3 blocks off. death from above.

You are so painfully shy it still hurts me!

Cripes. . .

No, I won’t try to borrow money. However there is a very interesting proposition that you’ll find quite worthwhile that I’d like to discuss with you. It involves my friend Alex Chiu.

Hama: Incoming!

I refuse to defend myself any more. I am shy. I am socially phobic.

I had five beers.

Item: I very rarely drink.

Can we please draw our own conclusions?

And believe me, all and sundry…I could have been a lot worse.

As a footnote and more on-topic, I want to say that I was really pleased and warmed by how incredibly nice, friendly, and considerate everyone was. And no, I’m not kidding. I had been incredibly apprehensive about meeting all of y’all, and my worries were for naught.

What a fantastic bunch of people.

Alex Chiu! Why didn’t you say so! Stand by for e-mail.

Now, can I interest you in a subscription to Grit? I’m saving up for a bicycle.

Hey, all, just checking in to say that I had a great time even though I was only there from about 10:45 until 11:30. The Bobs/DaVinci’s Notebook concert rocked. Thereafter we went to Chumley’s to look for y’all. You weren’t there, but as long as we were, we had a beer. Then we met Sua and Lux Fiat outside the Village Idiot and knew we were in the right place.

It was great to meet those who were hanging in: Uke, manny, andygirl, vix, Billdo, Green Bean, Joe_Cool, etc. If only I had gotten there earlier - had to leave to relieve the babysitters (i.e., my folks). Next time I’m in for the whole deal. As long as I don’t have to wear JDT’s nametag.

Sorry I missed you, Cantrip. I caught The Bobs on Thrusday night in Northampton and would have liked to compare notes.

Okay. The pages are UP! Well, they’re up with what I have right now. Not all of the pictures made it on for a couple of reasons. One, I did have some duplicates. And two, I promised Biggirl that I would do my best to keep her picture off the page. smiles

Anyway, it’s here.

Enjoy!
