I see Draelin’s been taking care of things too.
Well, if it is the geothermal source powering the island (and I think it is), I’d consider this one answered and add a question asking what the big as power cable is for.

Sure. I’ll try to be more specific when I re do everything between this season and next. I haven’t hit on a complete plan, but I have some ideas. For the record, questions 34 and 35 refer to a brief story Danielle told about her early adventures on the island.
Do we actually know that Jin’s infertility was cured? I mean, that episode was set up to make it look like there was at least a possibility that she was having an affair. And they’ve only been on the island for, what, two months now? So it’s possible that she didn’t know she was already pregnant when they crashed. Or am I – as per usual – a complete nutbar?
Still unanswered, but probably won’t be. Some (including me) theorize that the real Henry Gale had a travelling partner, and that the partner buried him, who was subsequently killed or assimilated by the Others. But my feeling is that the writers probably won’t bother clearing up this minor puzzle, unless Real Henry’s travel partner becomes significant in some way.
So if you still consider the question listworthy, it could be changed to: “Did the real Henry Gale travel with someone, and if so, what happened to his companion?”
I, too, offer hearty thanks to Trion! I find the list quite helpful to recall just how many questions that this series offers (and how few of them are ever answered). Looking forward to next season’s version.
Oooh. Just occurred to me: perhaps Fake Henry IS Real Henry’s travelling companion? Wouldn’t that be cool (though stupid that he would have sent the Losties to the grave site without thinking that Real Henry’s wallet might be in there)?
Nah, I go back to the theory that we’ll never hear about Real Henry again.
I know this isn’t the forum for speculation. Carry on, then…
You guys are both correct regarding the questions at hand. I plan to do a lot of rewording for clarity as part of the New Improved Updated List.
Well, you are a nutbar, but that’s why we like you. I think.
Anyhoo, I took the episode at face value and assumed Sun never got busy with Bald Harvard Boy. If nothing else, it’s not really her style. I have no doubt that Jin was cured and he managed to knock Sun up sometime after the crash.
Of course, I’ve been wrong in the past. Let’s not talk about that now, however.
Regarding question 81 and the map, I think it’s only a partial answer or we may need a new question:
Why draw a map of the island on such an inconvenient place with such a difficult process* rather than on a piece of paper with a pencil?
I believe that it was drawn that way to hide the map’s existence from the people monitoring the hatch.
Well, Kelvin said it was started by his predecessor, whose name I forget and who killed himself. I don’t get the impression that the guy was in his right mind, all things considered. But I can include some verion of this in the new list.
I was wondering about that, but…
wouldn’t the cameras be recording them dicking around with the blast doors and them drawing “something” on the door.
I still think it would be easier to draw a map on a piece of paper inconspicuously (pretend to read book with back to camera and draw on paper instead). Said piece of paper could be hidden anywhere in the hatch or on person.*
*Granted, neon blacklight ink during lockdown looks WAY cooler on TV than pulling a piece of paper out of a book or record sleeve
But it seems like there was an exceptional amount of effort that was overly-elaborate just to keep something secret from onlookers.
I don’t usually follow this thread, so pardon me if this is already done…
Is there a question about whether or not Michael is Walt’s biological father? I just watched the re-run of episiode 2.2 and when Michael gets grilled (in his backstroy) about what he knows about Walt he finally tries to shut things up by saying “I’m his father”. The attorney asks him to repeat it for the record, and Walt’s mom gets this very guilty look on her face. It’s not a look of “I can’t put him thru this” but one of “I hope he doesn’t find out”.
I suspect this is why The Others agreed to let Michael and Walt go. Michael is not Walt’s biological parent.
That one hasn’t been mentioned in this thread. I honestly don’t remember the scene your talking about well enough. If someone wants to back John up on his interpretation, I’d be willing to add it to the list. Otherwise I’ll check it out when I get the DVDs and make a decision then.
… but Michael not being his father wouldn’t change whether or not Walt was special, just whether or not they’d be able to trace his lineage…
Depends on what they wanted to do.
I have to admit, though, that after watching the entire episode, I’m not so certain my original observation is correct. But it would add an interesting twist, and we don know that The Others were particularly interested in whether he was the real dad or not.
Maybe Dr. Shepherd Sr. is really the biological father of all the Lostaways.
Hello all…
First a question, are there not 6 stations to be manned with teams of two, monitured at the hub, and replaced with a new team housed in a barracks? This brings up another question about the Others station (number 6?), why was it fake?
#4 About Adam and Eve… doesn’t the timeline suggest, big foot, Black Rock, Adam and Eve, Dharma, Others/Dannielle, Henry, Desmond, Oceanic 815? Adam and Eve were dead long before Dharma arrived.
#10 Locke paralysis…Is it ever stated Locke was paralyzed (he donated a kidney, and was in a wreck)?
#24 Jin delivering watches…We learn that the doctor Sun visits is AFRAID of Sun’s father and by extension Jin, Jin came home covered in blood. Safe to assume illegal stuff. The watches may be nothing more than a calling card for a “hit”.
#33 Black Rock…A tsunami or weird tide like the one that took away the 815 wreckage. (Do you really need all questions answered, like why trees grow upright on an island with a huge gravitational/magnetic anomoly?)
#44 Orientation film cut up…The first hatch (station # anyone?) had a reel to reel film (dating it to the 70’s), it is explained Kelvin’s partner watched it so much it became brittle and had to be spliced. The second hatch (station # anyone?) had a VHS tape (dating it to the 80’s). They were different orientation films for different stations, not cut up and scattered. The real question is why the difference in formats?
I will also add I AM NOT trying to rattle anyones cage, or second guess, or nitpick, I just don’t think there is enough time or space for them to answer all questions to suit everyone…If you try to please everyone, noone will like it.
First thing first:
Yup. Agree completely.
But I’m not expecting the writers to answer evey question perfectly. I’m expecting a hadfull of these questions to remain after the show finishes. Some aren’t that important and some will be left to us to figure out for ourselves. And there will probably even bee a few unanswered questions that we should have gotten the answers to.
Personally, I believe the show to be about the characters (the writers have said as much) and the mysteries are secondary. I think the mysterious island environment is the crucible in which we explore the characters.
So why am I doing this?
First of all, to keep track of things. To provide a reference for exploring the island mysteries. To give people a place to look if they miss an episode to see what’s been explained or uncovered.
Secondly, it’s fun.
Honestly, don’t worry about rattling any chains. Good natured disagreements about this show is half the fun.
On to your points:
The number of stations is mentioned in the orientation film and shown on the blacklight map. The specifics seem to match up reasonably well.
The “Others’ station” wasn’t realy a station but a mock up designed to make Michael thing this was a permanant outpost for the Others.
About #10, yes it has definitely been determined that Locke was in a wheelchair. We don’t know if his “paralysis” was total, partial or even psychosomatic. I suppose there are other reasons for the requirement of the chair that don’t count as paralysis, but I can’t think of a one.
Your statements regarding 24 and 33 are speculative. I try not to get too far into speculation here. Things are crazy enough as it is.
I think you’re right regarding the splices. Good catch. That would count as a partial answer in my book.
