UncleRojelio asked
I missed this one and it has since been answered. I just wanted to give UJ the credit he’s due for picking up on it. The answer, by the way is - those were Locke’s shoes.
As to the compass question (#29), I’m going to give it some time - most likely to the middle of the season. If the writers don’t address it again, I’ll bring it up to see if we still want to leave it unanswered. Personally, I still thing that it was answered and the writers know they don’t have to spell things out for us, but I’m all for being cautious.
A friend of mine mentioned that she thought Helen was driving this same car in the flashback in the scene where she throws Locke’s keys. I didn’t notice it, and I didn’t tape the episode to check. Anyone else?
Possible questions to add:
Where are the other DHARMA labs? (any more on the island?)
Why haven’t they sent a replacement?
Questions but probably not worth adding to the list
Where is the other lab entrance?
Why are the tail section survivor(s) so mean?

Hey hey! Let’s start with some answers. Some of these are partials, but I think the partial information we got is important:
-
Did anyone other than those accounted for, including Rose’s husband, survive the crash?
Partial Answer: Yes indeed. We now have officially learned that - at the very least- Ana-Lucia survuived the crash. No word on Rose’s husband yet. -
Who sealed it (the hatch) and why?
Partial Answer: The DHARMA Initiative built and sealed the hatch. We aren’t certain why yet. -
What do the numbers mean?
Partial Answer: They are the code entered into the computer beneath the hatch every 108 minutes. This may not be the only meaning of the numbers, but it’s certainly an important one. -
How did Desmond end up under the island?
Answer: He crashed on the island while on his race around the world. He was taken into the hatch by Curtis (was that his name?) to help him with entering the code. -
Who or what was under quarantine?
Answer: If anything was really under quarantine, it was the surface. At least those inside the hatch were supposed to believe the surface was the quarantined area. -
What is the significance (if any) of the number 108 beyond being the sum of Hurley’s numbers?
Answer: It’s the number of minutes on the countdown. Every 108 minutes the code must be re-entered into the computer. -
Who is the ‘him’ that Desmond is expecting?
Answer: His (or at least Curtis’) replacement.
We can also officially add:
- How did Jin wind up back on the island before Michael and Sawyer?
N9IWP - Yea, I think the second two aren’t worth adding. Let’s take a look at the first two:
[quoteWhere are the other DHARMA labs? (any more on the island?)[/quote]
I don’t know about this one. There may not be any. The existance of other labs may be a fiction used to make the Orientation video more believable. And even if they do exist, they may not be on the island, and they may never be encountered by our group of survivors. The whole show may focus only on this one lab. Right now I think I’m keeping this one off the list until the situation gets a little clearer.
This one’s good though. It’s on the list:
- Why haven’t they sent a replacement?
This island has electricty?
My favorite question…
Why on earth does a show as popular as Lost have bad graphical glitches in its opening credits? (Look at the S in LOST just as it comes into sharp focus). Is that just a coincidence, or…?
Why did Desmond think the world had ended?
No more updates for this thread? Seems like almost 2 weeks old. No new questions from last weeks show?
Seems we found out the tail enders were in another bunker?
Who did the feet belong to, and why did it seem like the same 4 sets of feet were passing by a couple times?
Anything else? I forget…
Another site’s forum I read had all sorts of people joking about a sexual relationship between Boone and Shannon.
Is this evidence of internet “wit” or is it an actual thread from the show?

For myself, I’ve had some pressing concerns in real life. I’m a little surprised that not much has happened in the thread. I’m willing to do some cleaning up here if you guys are still interested.
No, they were step-brother and sister. No blood relation, and they got it on once. Boy, that’s funny.
-
What happened to the tail section of the plane?
Partial answer: it crashed close enough to the island that 23 people were able to make it shore. -
Did anyone other than those accounted for, including Rose’s husband, survive the crash?
Ditto. -
How come Locke’s compass no longer points north?
Partial Answer: Big, honkin’ magnet. bigger question, however, remains: what changed, and why? -
What’s the deal with the transmission Boone heard?
Probable answer: Rambina was the one he was talking to: “We’re the survivors of flight 815!” -
How did Desmond end up under the island?
Answer: Solar sailer crashed. Met up with the other button-pusher and got drafted. -
What’s the meaning of the “DHARMA” symbol on all of Desmond’s stuff - and why is it on a freakin’ shark?
Answer: Corporate logo of the company behind all of this. re: shark: product placement, baby!
I definitely wanted to see the thread and noted its absence.
Not just the S. There’s a flicker on the edge of the O, also, if you can tear your eyes away from the S.
Slight nitpick. It most likely was someone from Rambina’s group, but the voice sounded like a man’s to me, and it was the Blonde Chick who was in possetion of the radio, no? IOW, I don’t think it was Rambina herself.
A couple of quick things before I head to bed:
Yup. Originally the only thing we knew that was powered by in a mysterious way was the transmission, thus question 5 (How has the FT been broadcasting for so long?). I’d be willing to rewrite the question to include everything else, but it also looks like we have an answer - it’s all powered by a geothermal power source. This does leave the question of what the cable that goes into the sea is for.
As far as question 48 is concerned, I know we’ll be getting a look at the Tail Section Survivors early days on the island, so I’m betting we get a definite answer then. It does seem pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point though.
But you can never tell with this show.
As a side note, if real life conditions ever prevent me from checking in for a week or two, feel free to discuss the questions while I’m away. I will be back to clean up eventually (assuming I don’t get hit by a bus).
More tomorrow.
I almost went into the Pit with this so I could cuss, but WTF? Why is “Lost” into reruns already. I’m watching the first 15 minutes tonight and I’m thinking, "Gee, they’re showing a lot of ‘Previously on ‘Lost’’ scenes tonight, and then it dawned on me. This was all on 3 weeks ago!
If they had rerun last week’s episode which I missed because I got wrapped up in this here board, I woudn’t have minded (nor would I have known, having missed it). But what’s up, doc?
Anybody else try to watch it tonight, or did my local station air the wrong dvd?
World Series. That was in my OP for last week’s episode.
But that doesn’t explain why next week’s episode is a rerun.
Oh, that’s easy. Sadism.
