This is true.
You should ask Dogbutt and Spidey to get it out for you.
Blurf!
If you’re interested in keeping the shirts for their remembrance value, you could make a sweatshirt blanket out of them. I’m doing that for MayGirl’s high school t-shirt collection; at last count, she had 34 t-shirts related in some way to activities she has participated in during her high school years. She’ll have a few more by the time she graduates in June.
Just a thought, of course.
Fine.
I packed two or three days worth of doing stuff into one morning. I’m gonna nap now.
Howdy Y’all! Irk is over! No more until next Tuesday! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Dindin shall be magic intartoobz pizza just cause I want pizza. I have to make two sweet N.O.T. pies tonight to take to someone tomorrow. I shall also make a buttermilk pie. Tomorrow I shall make up dressin’ etc for the big feast on TDay. The great things about others bringin’ stuff is no need to be chained in the kitchen for a couple days. So while I have stuff to do tomorrow I can do so at a leisurely pace.
Have I ever told the story about the Stop ‘n Shop in ye olde hometowne? It was the first convenience (as opposed to a grocery) store in town so it was a busy place! The local paper whose motto is “we will print anything and everything so don’t do it unless you want the whole town to know” always had reports of people bein’ arrested for shop liftin’ at the Stop 'n Shop. Thus we renamed it the Stop ‘n Steal. In high school it was de rigueur to be seen there both before and right after skool. Coolness involved whether or not you stopped to get an Icee in the mornin’ and in the afternoon.
I’m through ramblin’ now.
Haha I love this. Welcome, Tatum!
Thanksgiving is approaching. My partner and I are starting the day off at his family’s, then after a few hours are going to mine. We’ve made a joke that one of us should take a shot every time someone says something stupid.
- Someone complains about the local minimum wage increase - 1 shot.
- Someone complains about Obama - 1 shot.
- Someone says illegal immigrants are trying to steal our jobs - 1 shot.
- Someone talks about aliens among us - 1 shot.
- Someone says something racist - 1 shot.
- My uncle hits on a family member - 1 shot.
- Someone says something about ‘Keeping the Christ in Christmas’, or mentions the Starbucks coffee cup - 1 shot.
- Someone complains about accepting refugees - 2 shots.
- Someone says Trump would be a good President - 2 shots.
I should be drunk within an hour.
We don’t know why we even go. It’s weird that I have to PREP myself for Thanksgiving a week in advance.
They know my morals - I think they bring it up just to mess with me. But it IS nice to see some of my other family members I don’t get to see often.
I’ve cooked the ground beef for scattabuchi. Now I’ve got it and the canned tomatoes and tomato paste cookin’ low-and-slo in the crock pot. It’ll be ready when we get home from choir (which was pushed to today, instead of the usual Thursday).
There’s a woman in my mom’s AARP chapter who will custom make a quilt for anyone who will bring her t-shirts. She even made one from random donated shirts and they raffled it off. One of my sister’s friends won it and he gave it to my mom because she liked it so much! Nice guy. Quilting is one of the crafts I refuse to mess with. Anymore, my sewing machine is for repairing stuff.
HOME!! Crazy busy afternoon - good thing I set the alarm on my phone or I’d have worked right past quitting time. I stopped at Food Lion on the way home for some ice cream, because we deserve it, dammit!
The only concession I’m making to traditional Thanksgiving food will be the pumpkin pies I intend to bake. But I make them frequently anyway, so they barely count as holiday fare. I’m thinking of ordering lasagna from our pizza place and having that on Thurs - it’s really good lasagna!
Tonight’s supper is meatloaf, the last of the twice-baked N.O.T.s and steamed broccoli. And ice cream later. Because we deserve it, dammit!!
Magic intartoobz pizza has been ingested. Pies are bakin’. I promised a really, really, really good friend I would make her some dressin’ for Turkey Day. Her DIL has been seriously ill and fortunately is now in recovery doin’ much better. So, Sammie (the friend) is makin’ TDay dindin for everyone. When she called, she said she would understand perfectly if I said no, but her grand daughters wanted her call to ask me since I make the best dressin’ in the world. I could hardly turn down a request like that, now could I? So tomorrow whilst dressin’ makin’ a small pan of dressin’ shall be made for Sammie and co.
I wonder how that compares to Mama Plant. It seems as a child I liked her Mama’s dressing made of saltine crackers with oysters.
Mama Plant figured that if one can of oysters was good, four would be better.
I took the required left overs home, and the cat would not eat it. :dubious:
I never understood the appeal of dressing and/or stuffing. It’s just soggy bread. No thanks - you can have my share.
The meatloaf was yummerrific - I make 'em small, so there’s enough for supper, plus a couple of slices left over. We’s both stuffded, so ice cream will come later.
Killing time on campus before class, savoring the prospect of over two DAYS of freedom from anything scheduled, once class is over. Do need to get around to some homework, but I can do that basically on a “whenever the whim strikes” plan.
Had to hit Bullseye yesterday to pick up a prescription for DH, nearly did the Snoopy dance right there in the store on discovering that white chocolate peppermint M&Ms ARE back already. Grabbed two bags right away, will be buying more over the next few weeks. Those things are addictive.
I would gladly, safely do this for Sari.
Luci, sounds like fun. Iffn you have a desss-hic-nated driver can I come too?
Actually, while it’s exhausting, my Thanksgiving is fun. Can I take a raincheck for Xmas?
I gotta depart between dark & dark-thirty tomorrow for my Turkey day activities.
You didn’t live with yo mama? Even she didn’t want you? That 'splains a lot. :dubious:
That’s okay, Mooommm, I’ll take your share.
Nettie, Candy Cane Kisses are even better!
I make pretty good dressing myself if I do say so. I love me some dressing and giblet gravy. We always make a huge pan so I can have leftovers.
Soggy cornbread. With onions, celery, mushrooms and bits of bird, that is no longer soggy after being cooked. It is difficult to get a bite of stuffing, bird and cranberries at the same time, but worth the effort.
I’m going to log off and veg the night away. MWAH!!
Let it be understood. Dressin’ is made with cornbread. All those abominations other people eat may be called stuffin’. Although the one time I did have oyster stuffin’ it was pretty good. Can’t ladle giblet gravy all over it, however. Speakin’ of gravy, I always make the giblet gravy because if’n the gravy ain’t right, might as well just throw everything away.
Pies are baked and coolin’. Actually are cooled as well by now.
'Tis a bit chilly, thus we shall retire to the budoir to snuggle down under the covers, watch teevee, etc until sleepy time.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
We are both off tomorrow.
I don’t go back to work until Monday.
Cool idea! I printed that one out for future reference.
