And the ditch is mowed. Whew - it’s hotter out there than I thought.
I hate mowing the ditch.

I hate mowing the ditch.
Can you kill off the grass in the ditch and line with bark or rock instead? Even short ground cover? No more mowing.
The county won’t let us put anything in the ditch - last year we asked about loading it with rocks. No dice. So either I mow, or rent a goat. Or a flame-thrower… hmmmmmmm
Anyone else seeing a solution here?
& now for this important announcement:
Sunny it is just me and hubby and the pets. We have decided on ham, potato salad, greens beans and deviled aigs. On of my co workers sent me a carrot cake for Easter so that will be dessert.
So far today it has been a lazy day plus some naps. I will get the cleaning done in the morning.
Mooom we had pygmy goats when we had acreage and they were excellent at keeping things in control. Not very good at understanding what was a weed versus a desired plant. If you want an animal that eats grass primarily and will leave your plants alone, I recommend a sheep. If you can keep the animals separated from your beds, get one of each. No mowing and they’ll get the underbrush cleared under your trees. They’re fairly low maintenance too. I put out a salt lick every once in a while, made sure they had a water source, and gave them my green waste (like carrot peelings) from the kitchen. They were happy as clams at high tide.
Howdy Y’all! Mom had a fairly good day today. She ate a little more and drank more water than she has lately. Sis is still there because mom is gettin’ a little agitated and wants to get up and go to the bathroom which she cannot do bein’ as she is unable to stand. She’s been given a sedative so hopefully she’ll calm down soon. She will come home tomorrow. This mornin’ I had to be on the phone with sis and a hospice nurse to read out the names of all the meds that were sent to the house to make sure everything is here. I spelled out more of the names than I pronounced.
Sunny after mom and dad finally got rid of all the chilluns, they sold the olde home place in town and bought a smaller house in the country. Can’t say as I blame 'em and besides memories are not contained within walls.
MetalMouse congrats on the new wheelz!
MOOOOOOM partridge berries? I thought partridges grew in pear trees.
More like typing before the caffeine hit my bloodstream.
Yay on the new wheels, metal mouse! It’s about the same color as my last truck.
sunny, that would be more of a Moooom question, as I only know the two stitches that my grandad’s girlfriend taught me as a kid. I never learned to read a crochet pattern either.
Moooom, go for the goat. When I lived on 20 acres, we had Carpathians for milk, but they kept certain areas of the property trimmed too.
I harvested some lettuce (enough for two salads) and enough sweet basil for a recipe from the patio. I also caged the 'maters so the birds don’t get more than I do. The kid bag for the spring picnic is put together, aigs for the hunt filled. I may get the breakfast / lunch stuff ready after supper.
**Sunny **- if you google Crochet Hat Patterns, you’ll find more than you can imagine! That’s where I find most of them.
Home and dinner has been consumed. Nothing great just pork and kraut.
“No… no… Of Course I’ll cut that grass…!”
BA-aaaah…
FfwwWOOOSHhhhhh!
…and the Moral of the Story???
“… and the Lyin’ flayed down with the lamb. And there was Much Rejoicing…!”
I worked, walked Gordie, took a nap. Bathroom has been cleaned. I made slow cooker chicken tacos for dinner tonight.
[Dream FCD]zzzzzz…Welcome to United Flight 1245…zzzzzz[/Dream FCD]
I’m all for flamethrowers.
And I’ll do a MST3K marathon to ease my hockey withdrawls this summer.
Good one Count Blucher. Or shall we call you Neigh.
:smack: That was baaaaaad.
My goats were named Baaaa-thal-ram-ewe (Black Bart for short, on account of him being a black goat) and She-baaaaa.
I slay me.
Hi Gordie!
Yes, yes. Neigh. It’s perfect.
We had Esmeralda (Miss Essie) and Emma (Miss Emmy) for milk goats. The rest didn’t get named, as they were bound for auction or the dinner plate. It’s just easier that way.
OTOH, sheep are pretty smelly.
I’m honestly starting to worry a bit. I’ve been unusually tired all week, with no other apparent symptoms other than allergy-related sneezing and itchy eyes. Last night, I slept for over 13 hours (except for briefly getting up to use the bathroom and feed the cat), and started feeling groggy again within about six hours of getting up.
We did get some necessary shopping done, including replacing the cat’s scratching pad (cardboard, comes with catnip to put in it) and getting a new laser pointer for her to chase. Now watching Rogue One (DH insisted on getting it in 3D).
I hear ya on that one. My husband is still traumatized by the fate of Bucky the Bull, who would let him “play” with him when hubby was a boy. He sat down to a yummy dinner of burgers one day and asked his dad where Bucky was. All eyes turned to the burgers…
I have a similar rule for my fish. Not because I am planning to eat my goldfish, but because as soon as someone names one of the blasted things they get caught in a filter or otherwise die horridly.
Nettie if you don’t feel better, you should probably see a doc. I have heard that allergies alone can make you feel tired, so it could just be that. What do you take? Maybe a different medication would help. It could also be not enough sun, low iron, or other fun stuff. Winter is hard on a body.
I’m up tonight doing my taxes.
"Nuff said.
Must be a generational thing but my first two thoughts were napalm and defoliant.
My former now deceased neighbor (Naked Earl) hated yard work and asked me if I minded if he killed all his grass. Heck, your yard — go at it. Just make sure it doesn’t leach over and kill any of mine. He hit it some some stuff of questionable legality and environmental impact and all he had for the next 6 years was dirt. Our theory was that it also helped him hide his collection of dead hookers from us but that waits to be determined until the house is occupied again and the water line needs replaced.
Happy Sunday!
HAPPY EASTER!
Looks like it may rain. Although according to my phone app it should be N.O.S. and in the low 80s today.
We’ll be heading out for the Baha’i service later. We have a choice of the 10 am in WV - 45 minutes away, or the 11 am in Clear Spring - 20 minutes away. I would rather go to the one in Clear Spring as it is closer and is right off Rt 40, no complicated directions. However, it is in a private home. The one in WV is in a church building and has gardens (vegetable gardens where they grow food for food banks) and would probably be better for his assignment. We have to leave no later then 9 am for that one and the directions are not so simple. The other one we can leave at 10:30, which gives us more time.
Great wheels MetalMouse, I could smell the new car smell just from the pics.
First thing to is jump in the shower and then go from there.
