I forgot the biggest news of the day - I came home to a pee-free comforter! And the peasants rejoiced!!!
butters, the most culture I’ve had for a while has been yogurt.
Today was the day from hell. Right out of the gate, one cow-orker was out and will be tomorrow as well. She left a metric shit ton of her work to be picked up (she tends to take the less difficult, but mind numbing areas). And it all has to be done for month end.
Once I got set up, I put on my headphones and found that today was D Day for blocking the internet. I managed to bring some CDs in from the car through security. Now, I need to buy a new Mp3 player that fits the current security standards. Then download all of my music (again!). My department wasn’t even supposed to be part of the block, as we’re not in operations. They told us that the two iCafes would be available for breaks, but the 'puters there are blocked as well. I plan to bring my tablet tomorrow and go to my car for lunch. Oy!
I worked, got stuff done. Had a margarita, since it’s National Margarita Day.
Tomorrow is my Firday.
Flytrap was happy for you?:dubious:
Feel better, Big Kitty!
Yay for a good day, Butters!
Ruble ,yeah as drunk as some of the were, I’d only be in danger if he was trying to miss.
Dinner was toasted cheese sandwiches with BACON!!! Because a little bacon on anything is good and a lot of bacon even better.
I’ll be going to the mass for my friends mother tomorrow. And then I get to go fight with Hells Relations at work. They screwed up my paid day off (entered a wrong code or just didn’t bother entering ANY code) so both my UPT and pay will be docked.
I have mentioned that I love my job, except for HR, right? :smack:
A Zamboni driving down the street!
There’s a outdoor/seasonal ice rink, & apparently, the storage area for the Zamboni is about a block away, under a bridge.
Got first real workout since mid-May in tonight. It felt so good to be back there.
Stopped & got a Schmitter afterward so I didn’t have to [del]cook[/del] nuke anything tonight; now I’m home having a mint chocolate chip IC sam’ich for dessert. Not sure life is good, but I’ll give it a life isn’t always shitty.
Can you stand about 10-15’ past the end of the broadside of a barn. :dubious:
Concert was mind blowingly good. And free. My friend went as old ass couldn’t be bothered. It was better without him and my girlfriend really enjoyed it. We had 3rd row seats center stage. I thought we’d get crappy seats being free tix and all but I think we had good seats.
So tahred. Been up since 0430. Gonna sleep good tonight.
My neighbor said they has 2.81 inches in their rain gauge. We really needed some rain.
Night folks.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and drizzly with a predicted high of 79 and mostly N.O.S. by this afternoon. No big plans for the day. I do have some errands to take care of and I foresee a trip to the liberry whilst out and about. I plan to pick up a rotoissed chikin while out and do sump’n for sides. I am uninspired kitchen wise this week.
Butters glad you had a good time at the concert.
Spidey I want one of those sammiches.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. I suppose I should also purtify if’n I am to be about the public. Such a bother!
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Blurf. I am joining the tired club today, had another late night yesterday so I am looking forward to my bed tonight. I have a full day of doing all the stuff I have left over from last week, before some bright spark asks me to take on another project.
Good news of the day is that 'im indoors found out yesterday that he’s now been pre-approved for US gobal entry and has managed to schedule an interview for tomorrow afternoon, half an hour before mine. That means I have to collect up some documentation and his passport tonight so I can take them down with me (we have to go to the Embassy in London, he works in Cambridge so doesn’t come home in the week).
I’s all excitipated about that!
Working a mid-shift today. Got up at the usual weekday time anyway and did 40 minutes of yoga to work the kinks out of my back. (How a rock band got into my back I’ll never know). It did some good but I still need to find Ye Olde Heating Gelpak.
I’m here! I’m here! Don’t panic!!!
We didn’t have any intrarwebz at the office this morning, so I had to start work right away instead of gradually spooling up by surfing while breakfasting. But it’s working now, so yay! And I figured out my weird Excel printing issue, so yay. And I finished as much as I could on my hoist mount design - can’t do any more till the hoist is delivered. So on to another project.
Supposed to be a nice day today, which means I should be able to walk at lunch. Yay.
Happy Thursday!!
Happy Thorsday!
The sun is shining but according to my phone it’s cloudy outside. Supposed to go up into the low 70s today, so that will be nice.
I got woke up too early today because the lovely workers outside started jack-hammering the sidewalk at 7am. I have no idea why they are tearing up the sidewalk, but I suspect it has to do with replacing water lines since it’s by the meter. I didn’t get any notices about water being turned off, so who knows?
I’m just annoyed that they started so early.
I have much to do today since I was a slug yesterday. I need clean clothes for tomorrow, and Sah-son needs to clean out the back of the truck so I can fit a chest of drawers back there. We still have a big box of stuff back there as well as some bags of mulch because he likes them there. They keep the groceries from sliding around.
I have some things I need to pack up to take with me, like all the leftover dishes that were sent home with me at Christmas. I have some food that we bought and don’t like that I’ll take, my niece’s 4 boys will eat just about anything. I have some kitty treats that Adam doesn’t like to take to my friend with the cats. If I get the energy, I’ll pack up a few books to take to her as well. I have a bunch of Chicken Soup for the Soul books that I’ll never read again.
I’m just dreading tomorrow, I hate all the running I’m going to have to do. I’ll just suck it up and get it over with, I won’t have to go back down there until May.
Howdy Y’all! I am back from errandin’ and the liberry. I also have some N.O.T. boiled and coolin’ down as I post. They will become N.O.T. sallit. I am takin’ food to my friend Sammie and her family tomorrow for N.O.L. Ham, N.O.T. sallit, green beans, rolls, and a pound cake. I shall do the N.O.T. sallit and beans today. That way we can have some for dindin tonight along with the rotissed chikin I got from the Pubic Sto’. The cake will get made tonight and the ham (a smallish one) can be baked in the mornin’. Sammie is doin’ well except for the radiation treatments makin’ her nauseous. That I can understand. ICK!
Nappage may occur whilst the N.O.T. continue to cool down. Sounds like a good plan to me!
I took a nice walk today. It’s much too nice to be stuck inside. But I’m a dedicated professional, so I’m back inside. Dammit.
Leftover sketties for lunch.
C’mon Firday!!
Nappage sounds good to me too Swampy.
Except I have too much to do, and it’s so annoying trying to get it done.
This is how the morning went…
Log into irk, take calls while Adam is pestering me.
Last call comes in right before my end time so I work a few minutes over, not a big deal.
Decide to get up and start in the kitchen, dishwasher needs to be loaded and run.
Start to head out
Adam wants attention
Pick up cat and give him a belly rub
then remember I have to take my pills,
which are not supposed to be taken on an empty stomach.
Take pills anyway,
go out to load and start dishwasher.
Pull sandwich out of freezer to put in microwave,
load dishwasher, start dishwasher
sandwich is done
here comes the dog.
He wants to go out,
no he doesn’t,
yes he does,
no he doesn’t,
he wants to eat,
no he wants out.
Put dog out,
Wash dog bowl,
refill small bottle I keep on the sink with dish detergent,
let dog in,
feed dog,
microwave keeps beeping because sandwich is done.
Wash hands to get sandwich,
notice dog has pushed food into edge of bowl and can’t get to it,
stop to scrape food from edge of bowl to center,
wash hands again,
go to get sandwich out of microwave.
Cat meows and scratches at litter box.
Cat wants to use litter box
but he has taken a dump on side of litter box and is icked out.
Clean litter box,
wash hands again,
get sandwich out of microwave.
Sit down to eat,
take one bite of sandwich and
cat jumps up on couch next to me,
he wants treats.
Take another bite of sandwich,
dog comes in,
he is finished eating and
he wants treats.
After all he did go outside and
never mind that he just ate half a can of dog food
he wants his treats damnit and
he is going to drool onto my foot until he gets one.
Set down sandwich - did I mention that it is cold now -
give treat to dog,
cat is miffed because he didn’t get a treat,
if the dog is getting treats then he should be getting treats,
toss treats to cat,
give another treat to dog,
can’t toss treats to dog because he can’t see them,
and I have to put them in his mouth because if they fall on the floor he can’t find them,
and stepping on a dried out dog treat in your bare feet is like stepping on a lego in your bare feet,
and give the dog another treat, and
finally I get to finish my sandwich.
What should have been 5 minutes and a warm sandwich, ended up being over a half hour and a cold sandwich.
Nappage has occurred. N.O.T. sallit and green beans are done. I feel so productive!
Also 'tis so very nice out.
Sari you live a life that is just fraught with excitatement!
I’ve been given 3 drawings from hell to revise. The revisions are easy. But the models are so monstrously huge, it takes for-freekin’-ever to do anything. I’m waiting now for one to print. i’m sure it will… eventually… Meanwhile, I can’t do anything.
I am having some coffee and then I am off to the get the oil changed.
Hubby comes home tomorrow and leaves again on Saturday. Any tips for Madrid?
Sari, I’d feel sorry for you if I could ever stop chuckling…
Interesting day. Got up to go to the car dealer for oil/lube and decided to try another pair of my new blue jeans (replaced the entire set in January). Well, the size says the same thing, but two of them don’t fit at all, two are tight but wearable, and the other one is ‘loose-fitting’ to the point of falling down to my ankles if I don’t wear a belt. Yet all of them have a tag saying they are 44’ x 32’. Very strange.
So at the car dealer and of course they want to do more work…about $1,300 worth!! So I tell the guy I’m selling the car in April and how does that affect it and we get down to about $600…still a lot, but for 70,000 miles and nearly a year without service, not too bad. Only thing is it took about 5 hours, so between reading (I always bring a book) I walked up to some stores and did some browsing and watched while they tore down the old mall across the street.
One rant: went in a “Natural Foods” grocery (EarthFare) and jeez, what a bunch of sanctimonious pr…(jab a needle into your fingers) . Everything is ‘organic’, which is not surprising since “organic” is 'related to living organisms" which encompasses every damn bit of life on this planet. (Sorry, the usurpation of that word by the ‘green’ folks vexes me). Anyway, not planning to go back.
But I did get about a mile of walking in before ruining it at the Golden Corral buffet, but now I am home and in relax mode…unless I decide to go referee a outdoor soccer game at 6:30pm (cancelled Tuesday).
So for a old retired sod, not half bad.
BLURF Still irking but barely able to keep my head up. Tis so quiet here and I am so sleepy. i may just use a couple leave hours and get on home early. I need a proper full night of sleep. Besides, I am just sitting here faffing about the computer not getting anything much done.
Fine, I will just talk to myself like Swampy does all the time. I have decided to wake up and stay to complete my day. I am irked. As part of Community Recreation (tickets & travel) we have a set of standards we need to meet to retain our accreditation and even achieve the elusive 5 star rating. Well, not elusive as we just were accredited last year. The Director wants the 5 star rating and the team that does the review comes in April. All of a sudden we are trying to cram all this stuff into two months. Part of the standards is that all recreation staff have to have CARE training. CARE training is for people that serve alcohol like bartenders. We do not serve alcohol nor is there any present anywhere in my building. One of my clerks is only 17 years old and would not be old enough to sell alcohol if we did sell it. She too must have the training. So, now I and all my staff have to come in on a Saturday from noon-3PM to take the training in a couple of weeks. Talk about ruining an entire day. In protest I have sent an overtime request for those extra hours for everyone including myself. I expect everyone to get the overtime except me as I am exempt.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
