He is there Sunday to Friday. He is keeping local hours. He will be working at least some of those hours, hence the trip.
midget I have new respect for musicians.
Program
Rimsky-Korsakov: The Snow Maiden (Snegurochka) Suite
Rachmáninov: Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor
Svetlana Smolina, piano
Nielsen: Symphony No. 5, Op. 50
Order By Disorder
Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden Suite opens this energetic and passionate program. An indefatigable reviser and arranger, he regarded it as “…my best work, not only that but perhaps, on the whole, the best of all contemporary operas.”
Internationally acclaimed pianist Svetlana Smolina once again joins the Symphony from her world tour to perform Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2. As quoted in the Los Angeles Times, “Smolina’s defining of the lyrical aspects in the music she played made her performance cherishable…”
Nielsen’s 5th Symphony is considered his best work in this form. The music itself clearly defines a drama of energy and release, obsession and insistence. This is the first time the SFSO has performed a Nielsen Symphony.
Featured Guest Artist: Svetlana Smolina (Piano)

In 2014 Svetlana won “Live on Stage” live showcases and was chosen as their only Classical Pianist Artist for 2015-16 season.
Today, I accepted a friend request from a woman I knew when we lived in FL. Her daughter and mine have been friends forever - since kindergarten, anyway. Shortly after friending her, she went on the unfollow list. I had no idea she was a right-wing whack-a-doodle! The post about Melania being a classy 1st lady did it, altho the one about poor, poor Donnie being so strong and brave to take a job where he was berated and mocked… <headdesk>
So, naturally, I had to put a couple of anti-right-wing links in my feed. Wonder if she’ll unfriend me now?

Everyone has gone to lunch. I’m alone in the office. I have one tiny task to do, then I’m out of work again. Methinks I’ll be leaving early today.
i think i will dip out early today too. TGIF
The MMP is quiet today.
I have begun laundry. Hubby’s train is delayed 2 hours. I think he has to leave at 3 am or something horrific tomorrow, poor thing.
It snowed this morning, but not enough to get the kids a day off from school. They’ll survive.
My pee cat (curse her) has “graced” my living room rug. Why? Two litterboxes, both clean. I think it was because we had the cleaning ladies and the cat wanted to make a statement about her displeasure at strangers in the house. I don’t know, however. Cat logic.
There have been some ugly rumors afloat and the natives are restless.
:dubious: Do tell…
Alas, Madame, I cannot repeat them to a member of the Fairer Sex.
Howdy Y’all! I dropped N.O.L. off and then went to :eek:Wally*World:eek: since I was not too far away and needed to get some stuff. OYKW called and said they had a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig N.O.L. at his orifice (company catered) and he wouldn’t be anywhere near hongree this evenin’ so I decided that any need for sustenance on anyone’s part can be accomplished by foragin’ as desired. Chikin nachos will be tomorrow’s N.O.L. Other than that I have been a sloth this afternoon.
Home. **FCD **doesn’t feel well so he won’t want supper. Dunno what I’ll have - there’s some chicken leftover from yesterday - maybe I can do something with it. Chickie salad? Chickie-n-noodles? Dunno…
I made the executive decision that I didn’t feel like cooking so dinner is a roast beast sammich from the supermarket deli and Twinkies.
What I am able to tell you is that the Swampykins Clan is cooking succotash, which they always do Before Causing Trouble. We must all be on our toes and keep a Stiff Upper Lip!
That sounds like a good concert, Butters. I’ve played some of the music in it.
Last night I went to a play with friends. The play is called “Art” and it’s about a guy who buys a completely white painting, and how it almost destroys his friendships with two of his friends.
I’m going to an orchestra concert tonight.
Got home a little after 4 and had just fell asleep when the cat decided to cause some kind of crash in the living room and jolted me from my nap. So I am awake, cat is outside and I have loaded and am running the dishwasher. Supper will be sketties cause it’s quick and easy. I am so tahred. It was a very long week. I never did figure what the cat crashed, yet. Why do we have cats again?
TGIF
I am going to sleep with Val(ium) tonight. I need real sleep.
Midget the concert was so good I am considering buying tickets to the next show in March. I highly doubt I can win another pair. That play sounds interesting too.
Supper was leftover chickie chopped up and mixed with mayo. That’s all the energy I had. What I really wanted was Chinese food, but I didn’t want to drive all the way to Leonardtown.
I’s tahred!
I think I’ll crochet for a bit and crash early tonight.
I got the truck’s oil changed. One of the guys at the oil change place wanted to buy it.
I’m at the Castle waiting for the game to start.
Butters, sounds like a cool concert.
I have P F Chang “TV Dinner in a Sack”.
We will see.
:dubious:
PBJ and a glass of milk for dindin. My inner six year old boy is very happy right now.
flytrap you stole P.F. Chang’s tv dinner and put it in a sack? How strange, even for you!
I can top your inner 6-y/o - I just had cimmanin toast!
Time for afghaning.
Hubby got home. He’s off to get a haircut. Then we are going out to the fish 'n chips place. Then he shall pack, and then we shall probably crash, since he has to leave early. Oh well. Exciting life and times.
I haz got ‘Beamette’s cold. I haz the grumpies. I thought I got a pass from illin’ for the rest of the year!
