Zyzz, i think you are probably the pickiest vegan I have met :).
Well, I’m looking forward to this. I’ve missed a lot of the recent doperfests (school before fun sigh). So, i should have money so i can drive up there. Maybe this time I wont get lost trying to get to Sue’s?
Hahaha, DITWD!
Mmm, cheese…
Umm, so when is this again? I mean the date, not who’s birthday. psy and I have missed a few too and would like to make this one, but we need time for babysitter planning, etc…
LOL, Sue! Chocolate ganache sauce is pretty good, if you’re looking for things to roll him in for me. Oops, but then we’d be late for THIS Dopefest too, and people would start to talk.
Not vegan, just lactose intolerant… pizza is death for me! But I can yank the cheese off it and curse you all for having normal digestive systems. Except zyzz. So don’t worry about me at all!
You should have seen me in my early days on the board, Rasa. It was a running schtick of mine. I mentioned Hamburger Helper at least one of every three threads.
It was good to me, but it ran its course, now I just trot it out for nostalgia every now and again.
I usually get the frozen soy cheese pizza made by Amy’s Kitchen. You can usually find these in most grocery stores (though you’re more likely to find them at a health food place). I’d be happy to bring my own.

Enough of the Hamburger Helper already! Fer criminy sakes let’s try to talk about real food here.
Demo, until I am told otherwise, the Superbowl should be on the last Sunday in January. Please mark out your calendar soon. Zyzz, you may want to bring your own pizza. I’ll try to bring the ridiculously healthy hummus and tabouleh from my friend’s restaurant.
Sue, if we have clear weather, is there a chance of using the outdoor barbecue? I might have to make some of my semi-narcotic island skewers. Pug, we’re counting on your for the wings, capiche? The rest of you, let’s start putting this thing together. Try to remember that we have another pizza party to plan in the near future as well.
zyzz will NOT bring his own pizza! I will consider it a black mark on my hostessing record if I am unable to make something for the poor boy to eat. (and if all else fails, I’ll buy the pizza)
Zenster, of course you may use the grill, that’s what it’s there for. It has a rotisserie too, if you’re so inclined.
slackergirl Can I put you in charge of a salad?
I’m making chili, a couple of appetizers, a cake, chocolate ganache for Rasa and I’m going to attempt a vegan lasagna with soy cheese (have to do some research first on a suitable vegan substitute for ricotta).
A) Since nobody has actually gone so far as to confirm for Zenster the date and since it only took me 12.3 seconds to find the answer I will confirm it: Super Bowl Sunday is January 28th. I’ll take it a step further and confirm that it will begin at 6:00pm EST (this converts to 3:00pm PST for the confused peoples).
B) Zenster: Count Baglady and me out for the pizza parties. In my experience the difference between the best pizza in the world and Tony’s Frozen Pizza-Like-Objects is not large enough to warrant a drive down to San Jose. Especially since if I have the termerity to not like it I am going to be pulling your fingers from around my neck for the next six months. (I asked a friend whose tastes I trust, he didn’t care for Cicero’s either, so I don’t want to risk offending you)
C) Sue and Zenster: Count Baglady and me as highly probable for the football party. Last year we did Super Bowl Sunday at the great Parkway Theater here in Oakland, but it would be great to do it among people we know. Finally meeting the legendary Sue is enough, but if Doob, Demo, and psy can make that will only strengthen our resolve. Only two things keep me from a firm commitment, 1) I haven’t actually asked Baglady yet, and 2) I can’t rule out having some work travel around then. But I’ll keep you informed. If we do come we have slightly restricted diets: fish, fowl, dairy. Unless you are willing to verifty that the pick, cow, sheep, etc. was wild when killed (“see you this evenin’ ma! I’m goin’ cow huntin’!”). But don’t go out of your way for us, we are good at never starving. And let us know if we can bring anything to help.
It seems that my short message to say “yes you are right, no we won’t come, and yes we’ll probably come” has grown to a near epic length . . .
Sue You can count me in for salad, and let me know if there’s anything else I can come up with.
Jack and Snooooopy I am with you in spirit on the Hamburger Helper and Mac & Cheese front. I must submit the ever popular Rice-a-Roni to complete the pantheon of fabulous processed pasta foods, and must also mention my personal favorite, for ease and speed of preparation - Stovetop Stuffing.
