Roxy learned early that I don’t sit on the floor. I have a low stool in the basement that I’ll use. Otherwise, it’s a chair. No floor.
You got this shoe! Glad you have a good team to work with now.
nellie, I would have strong reservations about eating anything that someone with very long nails has prepared. Not only Moooooom’s mention about TP usage, but cross contamination when actually cooking.
Got the Friday cleaning done, bought groceries, picked up prescriptions, took Nelson to the dog park and relaxed some on the patio. I made a cheeseburger with lettuce, mayo, tomato and mustard, along with a salad for supper. I will raid the freezer later for an ice cream sandwich.
DH is practically in mourning over the need to return the rented Jeep tomorrow. I admit it’s a significant improvement over what we normally drive. We have cleared our stuff out of the Jeep, so it’s ready to go back. The interior will need a vacuuming, but Enterprise can handle that.
Sutures removed.
Poke chops in the oven.
Potatoes boiling.
Gravy done.
Howdy Y’all! We have returned from the retirement soiree over to the church house. 'Twas a lot of fun and the food was plentiful, large and in charge! We had dead pig, dead chikin, South Keerliner Hash, mac 'n cheese, baked beans, N.O.T. sallit, corn on the cob, rolls, cake, and cookies. Plus there was beer, wine, sweet tea, and lemonade. YUM! I told Joe (chef in charge and a church member) that I want a repeat for Sunday brunch which will be this Sunday.
OK, I read all but have the retention of a gnat on crack, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around as needed.
Up from naptime. Dinner tonight is baked perch with lemon and butter, and wild rice blend with 'shrooms and peas. And in honor of International Beer Day, I m drinking Smithwick’s tonight.
Yay! And good luck tonight!
Buddy is pouncing on his own tail. In my lap.
nettie That gave me a smile, which I really needed at this point.
One reason for pets, their antics can be quite entertaining.
Evening all. Swimmin’ was done, then spent about 2 hours at the soccer fields, so should sleep well tonight.
{{shoe}} because dammit you needed to catch a break and it sounds like you might have done so.
Bumba, yeah on the house closure.
Cookie, life among the aged is different; hope you can maintain your independence.
talkie, maybe just make it an evening date at a fancy restaurant and hotel to get him…convinced that this is a good thing…
OK, it’s past 11pm and no nappage today, so off to bed for me. All y’all take care.
Home. Got out a bit before 2, got home a bit before 2:30 because I gave one of the guys a lift home.
The manager told me again what a great job I was doing (I’m always so hard on myself, so that was lovely to hear.) And I didn’t feel nearly so physically drained - frankly, I already wasn’t feeling well yesterday anyway.
If my
back wasn’t so sore (I’d felt aches in it about a week before starting all this anyway) it really wouldn’t be that grueling of a job.
Gotta stretch more!
Oh, sweet honey chil’ you never wear socks right after a pedicure! They shoulda given you a cheapo pair of disposable foam flip-flops if you showed up in closed-toe shoes.
The “something wrong” was almost certainly that is wasn’t completely dry. Salon polish lasts forever, but that’s partly because it takes ages to dry. (“Quick dry” polish chips & peels the instant you look at it kinda funny.)
Okay, it’s almost quarter to three in the morning, and I still haven’t showered, partly to wash the stink-um off me, but mostly to stand with my back directly under the stream of the hottest water I can stand.
Back to do it all again tomorrow, but I don’t close tomorrow, so I’ll get out at a semi-reasonable hour.
Good night, Mumpers! Thanks for all the support and good wishes!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!
Goodnight!
Takin’ me a while to wind down. I’m all cleaned up, and poor Monkey got some of that cat-crack-in-a-tube to make up for being left aaaalllll alllllone (he’s been meowing at me nonstop since I walked in.)
Snacking, too: started off with some cheese and honey. Now I’m having a cuppa chicken noodle soup (with tons of croutons) while waiting for my tube croissants to bake.
Technically, I’m having a 3-course meal tonight. ![]()
I think I got over 7 hours of sleep last night!! Huzzah and rejoice!! But I was having weird dreams about our boat. We’re going there today to take the dinghy off and bring it home, and I was dreaming about that. In my dream, it was light enough to be picked up and carried by one! Yeah, right. I also dreamed that someone had taken our boat to be detailed, but when they brought it back, they tied it up wrong and it got banged up. Then we watched dolphins turn into seals and crawl up the beach. ![]()
Higgs has kennel cough. She started coughing when we arrived in FL, and I thought maybe she inhaled something along the trip and irritated her throat, but it continued. When we got back, FCD called the vet and they said it was most likely kennel cough, acquired at the groomer, since that’s the only time she’s around dogs. She’s on antibiotics and cough tabs (as needed) and already the coughing is much less. She’s also gained too much weight - I could tell that getting her into the car - so her rations have been cut a bit. Tho the real contributor is the person who lets her lick his dinner plate and share his popcorn…
I’ll be watching Tobias at his house this afternoon while Roxy has a movie date with her mom. That’s today’s biggie. And I bought a hunk o’ poke at Aldi yesterday - I’m going to cut it into hunks and dump it in the slow-cooker with BBQ sauce on its way to becoming pulled poke (because I gave my freezer stash to my inlaws.) Yep, another exciting day at FairyChatEstates! ![]()
Happy Saturday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted to start early evenin’. We shall see. Today I shall clean the smoker. In addition one of the BUTTS! I smoked on Thursday shall get turned into ‘que today, N.O.T. sallit shall be made, and a yellow cake with chawklit frostin’ shall be made. Some of the 'que and N.O.T. sallit will be eaten today and the rest of it along with the cake shall be taken to the church house tomorrow for first Sunday brunch. It will be tough, but I shall also manage to get in my RDA of sloth.
Bumba yay on the house sale!
shoe glad you survived last night. I trust you are sleepin’ as I post.
MOOOOOOM hope Higgs is better today, poor baby!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
I tried to post this earlier this week, but my tablet wouldn’t cooperate. When my inlaws built their house 20+ years ago, the view from the back windows was a field of cows. This is their view now:
The farm is now a housing development full of stucco-covered monstrosities on little lots. At least the inlaws don’t have to look into someone else’s house and yard. But they aren’t happy.
And the number of housing developments continue to grow. Traffic there is obscene. Personally, I don’t understand the appeal of Florida. Yeah, they don’t have state income tax, but their other taxes make up for it - duh! Anyway, I’ll be so glad when we no longer have to venture into America’s Penis.
Meanwhile, I’ve cleaned the critter fountain, scooped the cat box, and loaded the slow cooker with hunks of poke, chopped onions, and copious amounts of Sonny’s Sweet BBQ Sauce. When I get home this afternoon, it should be pullably tender! Not sure when we’re leaving, tho - FCD is still sleeping.
We were off yesterday to join up with the niece and her husband, whose son plays in a band. His group was playing at an outdoor concert for cancer awareness. Had a good dinner at a local restaurant, then went to the concert venue. Somehow, my wife managed to drop her phone while we were there and didn’t notice it until we returned to the niece’s house. So the husband and I went back to look for it, but without success.
Had it announced from the bandstand, and suddenly I get a call from her phone, with somebody saying “did you lose your phone?” We agreed to meet at the main table and I waited around for 20 minutes before realizing that they weren’t going to show up. Who does that?
Anyway, it wasn’t an expensive phone, and it’s 4-5 years old, and there is nothing on there of a financial risk, so it’s mainly just an inconvenience. I called AT&T and had it bricked, so we can have the number transferred to a new phone. I was thinking of getting new phones anyway, as mine has been exhibiting signs of dementia, so we’ll be doing that today, most likely.
Morning all. Well, the plan to sleep soundly wasn’t quite what I planned, woke at 5am and while I didn’t get up until 7, never really got back to a sound sleep, so will probably drag around today. Nothing much on the agenda, so that is good. 50-50 chance of rain this afternoon, so we’ll see.
Cookie, sorry about the phone loss, sounds like you’ve done all the responsible stuff.
FCM, can’t really see much, but considering the housing boom here in N. Ali-bama I can sympathize; at least I’m on a cul-de-sac and nothing has been built near me in the past 25 years. And best wishes to Higgs; I know how easy it is to overeat…
OK, onward into the day. All y’all take care.
Awwww…poor Higgs. I hope that she’s feeling better soon Mooooooom.
Yay on the house sale bumba!
Too bad about the phone cookie. I’ll agree that the finders behavior is weird.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and have walked with Nelson. We sat on the patio, where I read and he supervised until the neighbor dogs came out for their morning business. Then I let him off leash to play with them for a bit.
Not a lot on the slate today, so I’ll play around in the studio and likely take Nelson to the park later.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
It’s certainly reinforced my notion that having any sort of financial instrument on an easily lost or stolen phone is generally a bad idea.
