The Slugabed MMP

Morning, mumpers! It’s 17c/62f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says it’s “cloudy with a chance of not giving a fucking shit” so obviously that’s what to expect from the rest of the day.

wetone I’m glad they could move your procedure to a better date, and we will all be there in spirit with you when you go in and when you come back out again.

Moooom glad to hear you made it home safely, a small bit of carpet-cleaning is a fair price to pay for abandoning the critters! Mine definitely make their displeasure known. Next week they’re in the cattery for a few days which probably means major sulking when they come out again.

Taters happy hair day!

shoe I am with you on the general aches and pains. Getting old is not for the faint-hearted.

I was at the vet’s this morning with Ophelia, our 18yr old mog. She has a list of health issues that have sprung up just lately and will need ongoing treatment. The good news is that although her blood pressure is still high, she’s gained 20g in weight which is significant for her, and her cyst wound is looking much better. She’s also had her ears cleaned and her claws clipped so of course, she’s not talking to me any longer.

Fingers crossed we might actually make our much-cancelled Dublin flight this evening. It’s only an overnight thing but it will be good to get it out of the way. BA have cancelled it three times since April but so far, we are good to go!

Morning all. Paper has been retrieved and pill taken, so the morning chores are done. Swimmin’ and Sauna and Soccer will keep me active today, and I’ll try to find some more stuff to do besides the Sudoku puzzles. Up to 93F again with very little chance of rain.

boo fae, hope the flight goes forward with you on it.

shoe, swampy, FCM, add me to the ‘don’t get on my knees without sufficient hydraulics to get me back to my feet’ brigade. Checking the water meter meant pulling out a heavy concrete block at ground level and that was not fun…only checking it every week now, so that’s a bit easier.

Wheelie, glad things are coming along nicely at the house, and that your new neighbors seem to be nice people.

OK, need to finish the morning internettin’ and get about the day. All y’all take care.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 51 degrees with an expected high of 78.

As I mentioned yesterday, I got my hair done and treated myself to a mani/pedi. I don’t know why I chose to get a manicure too, it never lasts long because I’m always rooting around in the dirt or sticking my hands directly in some kind of cleaning agent. Ah well, the fingernails will look nice for a couple of days at least.

Once I came home, I got bored and that’s never a good thing. I ended up going to Costco where I purchased a shredder and various other things and spent way more than planned. The original plan was to buy chicken for Polar and pick up two other items. The shredder was not on the list. I did need a shredder, but it wasn’t on yesterday’s list. Oh well. Let’s hope it’s not a piece of doo-doo.

Today, I will log onto a work thing for an hour. No, I’m not happy, but I need to know the information they’re presenting, and I can’t count on the MPA for this. I will be charging it. I’m sick of giving up my free time and I am supposed to be on vacation, damn it.

After that, I’ll mow the lawn and take care of some other chores.

wheelie, I’m glad things with the house are proceeding smoothly.

boo fae, I hope the flight goes off without a hitch this time.

Yeah, getting down and back off my knees is no longer an easy feat. It doesn’t help that the one knee is still fubarred from the injury a couple of years ago. I also can’t lie on my back while on the ground without elevating my head. I can’t lie flat on my back on any surface without elevating my head because I get the spins. No, I am not drinking, it started a few years ago now, and nothing has helped me. Aging isn’t for the weak, but I’m definitely weary.

Well, I should get another cup of coffee. I hope you all have a terrific day!

Glad that Buddy made it home nettie. Good luck on the squishing.

Getting older sucks shoe. Like the others, I don’t get down on the floor / ground without a plan to get back up, usually involving something to hold onto whilst pulling myself up.

Cool that you met your future neighbors wheelie.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted,a load of towels ready for the dryer and a load of clothes on deck. While we were outside this morning, the poodles next door came out for their morning romp, so I let Nelson off leash for some play time with Sully. Fixing to do the Friday cleaning before heading to town for groceries.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

By 10AM, I’d emptied the dishwasher and started refilling it, I made ice, then dumped the water and put some vinegar in the ice maker, I hauled the laundry downstairs, sorted it, and started a load, and I just finished vacuuming. It’s almost time to dump clothes in the dryer, then I’ll get out the carpet cleaner and attacked the spots where the cat horked. I’d love to do entire rooms, but that’s too much for today.

FCD went to the boat to measure for… something… He’s on his way back. After I get the carpet and laundry done, I’m running to Food Lion, then to the local market for some fresh produce. I’m already pooped!

wetone, I’m so glad they were able to move your procedure. I’m so sorry you had to go to the ED again, though, to get them to do it.

Today is hot, again. I’m planning to (hopefully) take a nap later. I got up at 5 a.m. to waddle with my friend - it was nice but I’m not a huge fan of that hour, especially now that it’s dark then.

My friend is trying to convince me to take a trip with just the husband while she takes my kids - we haven’t been out of town sans children since they were born. I’m all for it (they’ve got my friend’s place where they can spend the night, and my mom is willing to take them as well though given her condition I’m not sure I’d prefer that), but the husband is surprisingly difficult to convince. Maybe if I can encourage him to go on a day trip, we can ease into it.

Seems like the wildfires are going up everywhere now, but sadly, 'tis the season.

@Bumbazine, are you and the wife still safe, or did you evacuate? It seems the fires are growing in size.

I’m having a great brain day. Misremembered my appointment time, showed up an hour early.

Hubby has come around to my point of view that it was probably gunshots. Weird, says I.

This is my point…

I’m glad Buddy is back Nettie. Silly cat.

BooFae I’m glad Ophelia’s cyst is doing better. I’m sure she’ll get back on speaking terms with you once gushy food appears.

Off for a walk before it gets too hot.

Happy Friday!

The only way I can get off the floor is via the yoga move downward dog. This springI fell in the mud putting Ariel out. I landed on my side and could not get up. I thought “I’ll just lie here for 2 hours until the guys come to bring the horses in.” I managed to right myself and get up using the gate and post. Mud from head to toe.

I am in FB jail for 24 hours for suggesting a child murder should be hit on the head with a hammer. That is how the Ahole killed the child. FB can kiss my behind.

We went on an “outing” yesterday with ten other residents of Walking Dead Manor. A 40 minute drive in the van to a restaurant on a lake to supposedly sit on the deck overlooking said water and to have good food. Neither turned out to be the case, sadly. The restaurant told us they couldn’t accommodate 12 people on the deck, and the food was. . .mediocre, as it turned out. Then a 40 minute drive back, of course. These group things are just not my cup 'o tea, I’m afraid.

We’re still safe. Thank you. :grinning: Our little town was moved back down from Defcon 2 to Defcon 1 yesterday afternoon, even. (Actually, they call it ‘level 1’, ‘Level 2’, and ‘Level 3’. I was just being dramatic.))
There’s still a number of fires in the Northwest however. It looks like this is going to be a fact of life for the foreseeable future. It shouldn’t be this way, bu people can be so short-sighted. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

In more cheerful news, We have an electrician coming this morning to look at the possibility of installing a new service entrance. The one we have works fine, for now, but there’s no main breaker, and there’s only 3 wires coming in from the power pole instead of 4, and the box is just about full. We had a contractor out to discuss putting in mini-splits and he looked at our service entrance and said “that’s not gonna handle it.” So we’re considering our options.

In even more cheerful news. (really cheerful this time) Our house sale should close today or tomorrow with a largish check going into our house bank account.

I’m told that the stuff they give you doesn’t really put you out, you just don’t remember what happens, or something like that. I dunno. Wifey says that when they put me out to shock my heart back into line I taught the ER docs some new curses. I don’t remember any of that.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Nobody:
Four gallons of leaking Lysol on the slide:

That was a mess for Deb and Hazardous Ken to clean up. Also, a lady handed me a sword, so I am now your king. :person_fencing:

And for the record, my spine, and my left knee are good.

Level 1 is better. Defcon 1 is when everyone does play “Global Thermonuclear War”

Considering FB censored a pic of a giant inflateable minion lying in the road, I’d say the Zuckerbot has been doing shots of 240V this morning.

Glad Opehlia is doing OK, Boofae. and fingers crossed for the Dublin flight. I wanna go some day.

Bit more detail while I assimilate lunch - hey, eating again  they all said I was learning quickly.
The manager is awesome - the exact opposite of that horrid G.M. at my last job - and the crew is warm & supportive.

Wish me luck for tonight, though - Fri and Sat are their busiest nights and we stay open till 1 a.m. (!!) so I’ll be pretty pooped by the time I get home LOL.

… slept better last night than I have in a long time, though, so that was nice.

All y’all take care.

For a colonoscopy, you get “twilight sleep”, so not completely out. The show tunes episode was preceding real surgery. Sorry for the confusion.

I got a FB warning once for jokingly suggested someone needed their butt kicked. Any reasonable being would know it was a joke. 'nuff said.

shoe - I predict you’ll find your rhythm in no time. Huzzah for good coworkers and bosses!!

Laundry is done. I went to Aldi, then to the local farm market. Supper tonight will be steamed sweet corn and a salad. Blueberry crisp for dessert. I also scored some cherries, and the farm had some really nice peaches.

The carpet is dry. I think that apart from making supper, I’m done with chores for today. I need to recuperate from yesterday.

Happy Firday, everyone! I have nothing new to report.

I’ve been under general anesthesia many times, sad to say, but most of my eye surgeries have been with a local anesthetic and mild IV sedation. I think I’ve mentioned that one procedure went longer than expected, and the local wore off. That was a half-hour in hell I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I’d rather be knocked out.

WetOne, I’m relieved they moved up your procedure. When you find out what time the procedure is, please let us know so we can be with you in spirit.

doggio, I read the beer shortage is due to a CO2 shortage.I don’t get it. Why is beer affected but not soda? Why does beer need added CO2? I thought it made its own bubbles during fermentation? But I hope JtC does adopt you. I can see you two as a crime-fighting pair of superheroes, plus Princess Pretty Paws would make a great Happy Meal toy. GG, unfortunately, would require a bigger box.

wordy, I read that as your friend wanting you to go on a trip with HER husband while she watched your kids and wasn’t sure whether she was really, uh, generous or thought you could fix his annoying traits. I hope you can talk your husband into going somewhere with you. You’ve had a stressful year.

This is what I don’t understand about women who wear acrylic nails. Do they never do any scrubbing or dig in the dirt? Do they have to wear special gloves with longer, poke-proof fingers in them? But I’m glad you treated yourself.

nettie, glad Buddy is back.

My sympathies and empathy to all with back issues. I think I’ve mentioned that my back pain hath returneth, though it’s not as bad as it was. I need another epidural, but I can’t reach anyone at the ortho clinic to set up an appointment.

Back from exam and minor erranding, headed out on some further supply acquisition once I’ve ingested some lunch (carne asada nachos).

As far as artificial nails, the gel polish typically used on those is TOUGH. I’ve gone a month between polish jobs, doing normal household cleaning (I don’t garden) and typing a lot, and the polish still looked fine. I do keep nails (natural or artificial) at a practical length. Some wear them at a length I call “these hands do not condescend to perform actual WORK” nails.

I clipped your comment to express my thoughts - WHY would anyone want those long claws? How can you do anything with those things stuck to the ends of your fingers? Can you operate a zipper of push a button thru a buttonhole? Can you scratch your nose without poking your eye out? And we won’t go into use of TP…

I’m pretty sure I’m missing a girly gene because I’ve never had a manicure, nor have I ever wanted one. I had a pedi once because my daughter wanted us to do it together, and I hated it. It didn’t help that there was something wrong with the polish and it stuck to the inside of my socks. A pedicure is wasted on me - I wear socks and sneaks pretty much all the time.

And then there’s my hatred of makeup and doing my hair and shopping for clothes… Don’t like any of it. Apparently, I’m some sort of mutant.

There was some thunder rumbling, but it’s stopped. Will it rain or not? Stay tuned after this commercial break.

Love it! Gonna remember this one. Thank you :purple_heart::blue_heart::green_heart:

Works for people, pets, service workers, potential gentleman friends…the array is wide open.

You describe this dilemma so poignantly! This humbles me every play date I have with my grand babies-which is to say nothing of how humbling a flight of stairs is if I’m trying to keep up with them.
