The Slugabed MMP

Ok this is weird. I’ve got the local NPR station on in the shop, currently it’s World Cafe. “Paradise City” by Guns and Roses is on.

Ablation scheduled for Wednesday the 10th. I wish you could all be in the room waiting for me when I wake up.

We wish we could be too.

Sending strong uppity nurse thoughts your way.

Whenever I have to be anesthetized I get over my pride and ask that they not put me under until they have told me directly they are going to and I ask if a nurse or tech can hold my hand as they induce so I’ll feel less alone and be less scared. They have always been glad to do that and seem to appreciate the honesty and chance for them to be a warm and reassuring person. Which is of course why many of them are in the career they are in.

We do too, but you know we’ll all be waiting here. If you like, you can designate an MMPer to be your point of contact and that person can tell the rest of us what’s going on. Skritch your kitty and be as mellow as you can. More hugs! :people_hugging: :two_hearts:

Good idea on the designated Mumper. Let’s see, who’s my favorite???

My ex used to say I was the only person who looked forward to surgery. YEAH BABY, because it includes sedation! Love me some Propofol.

You are all my favorites.

Merrylande!!

HOME!!! And unpacked, and having a non-caffeinated Diet Coke. We made the trip in just under 13 hours - a new record for us. At least one time, the trip took almost 16 hours. There was not a lot of traffic, and only one slowdown to go around a tractor-trailer that looked like it was limping to the next exit.

Taz horked up on the rugs at least 3 places, so guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow!! I also plan to clean the fridge, and do some laundry, and get some groceries, and chill. There’s no place like home!

Howdy Y’all! The ribs and the BUTTS! are smokin’ away and lookin’ good. I shall take them off the smoker around six thirty this p. of m. Much sloth, along with quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, and day drinkin’ has been accomplished. Sup also got et. All in all, a good day.

{{{WetOne}}} glad they could go ahead and get it scheduled soon. We will all be here for you next Wednesday.

MetalMouse here’s hopin’ the tile bill is not too ouchy.

MOOOOOOM yay for bein’ home safe and sound. Even with cat barf, home is always the best place to be.

Back from assorted erranding. The car looks better than it has since we bought it, and I like the new short haircut. We’re in triple-digit weather here, having my neck clear of hot hair is good.

Gotta do another supply run tomorrow (just too tired now), and the dreaded girly exam is in the morning.

Buddy didn’t come back in at his usual time this morning, so we probably won’t see him until evening or possibly even tomorrow morning. I have GOT to figure out getting that boy to accept a much more indoor life. Not looking forward to finding new war wounds.

I can’t remember the last time we had pulled poke. As it was the Spousal Unit wasn’t feeling well, and I had to eat it all. I can’t cook it anyway when it’s hot, because it heats up the house. I’m planning to make thin poke chops tomorrow. That won’t heat up the house too much.

{{{wet one}}} Glad that they could get surgery moved up.

Welcome home Mooooooooooom!

Flashed, came home and took Nelson to the dog park. We met a pair of noob chihuahua-shi tzu siblings (as in littermates to each other) who gave him a good run for his money. Their dad is a teacher who got out of his teacher irk day early. He said that they’ll be back.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up from naptime. Had Smpked Paprika Chicken with cheesy potatoes and a salad for dinner. There is apprently beer shortage. :scream: :grimacing:. Jane The Cane, are you looking to adopt a Large Adult Son, or perhaps need a dogGG/husbandbutler?

Evening all. Tile replacement is done, not cheap but within budget, just glad that it is over (until the next leak). Paying the last high-cost water bill (I hope) for awhile. Nappage occurred which I expected, then did a little gym exercise and helped for 2 hours at the soccer fields, so did get my outdoor time. Cheeburger has been consumed.

wet one, glad they could move the procedure up, sorry we all can’t be there when you wake up (Knowing us, we’d likely scare you to death…). Many positive waves sent your way.

Seanette, hope your exam isn’t too dreadful and that Buddy is OK.

Welcome Home, FCM!! I just hope you don’t have to travel there again too soon, as in bad news…

BBBoo, for some reason being put under (and I go back to having ether dripped on a cloth above my nose) never concerned me much, just waved good night and never had a big problem coming around post-surgery.

talkie, hope the street is still whole instead of a hole in the street…

shoe, I know what you mean, but I’m stubborn and I think they have corrupted the word; plus I like my man-made chemicals…

Sunny, did you find out what the noise was? Hope Akiko found her mind…

OK, need to prepare for bedtime. Catch all y’all tomorrow.

After Alex Catt hits “reply”

Well, there’s also Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, gin&tonics…

{{{{WetOne}}} We wish we could be with you, too.

Buddy’s home. Allie’s not impressed.

I’m home, though I feel like I got gently hit by a train.
Dragged myself into the shower & am nibbling toast with P.B. There were a few bites left from morning breakfast, and I’m too pooped to fix anything more ambitious.

More tomorrow. Imma go crash now.

Ye gods, my back is killing me, though! I sailed through my 30s and into my 40s with very few back problems, but now? I can barely stand back up if I have to stoop for something, especially if that something happens to be heavy.

WetOne, sorry about your issues, but also glad you’re getting something done about it. Hope the procedure takes care of the problem.

Last time I went under general anesthesia was 14 years ago when I had my gallbladder yanked. A nurse said, “I’m going to give you something to help you relax,” and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery room.

Our house visit today went well. Everything seems to be where it’s supposed to be, and all the electrical looks right. Then, back in the sales office, we started talking to another couple. They just closed this morning and are about to move in. Turns out they’re in the house directly across the street from ours! Really nice folks, and we’ve already exchanged phone numbers.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Hey, speak for yourself!!! :stuck_out_tongue: I, for one, am adorable!! :kissing_heart:

FCD thinks he’ll have to go every month or so, just because of their general condition. I won’t be able to accompany him that often because of babby-sitting - we’ll just have to see. But FIL really has deteriorated a LOT since we saw him in May.

Oh, sweetie, I’m there with you. And let’s not discuss actually getting on one’s knees… :open_mouth: The faucet for the hose at our marina is just under the edge of the dock, so I have to kneel down and reach under to turn the water on or off. There’s not just the pain and awkwardness of returning to upright, but add the chance of falling in the river - GOOD TIMES! :stuck_out_tongue: Maybe you can find some simple back-strengthening exercises on line?

Yerp, me too! My spousal unit claims that one time when I was going under, I was singing show tunes. I think he lies…

WedOne - happy and healing thoughts coming your way! I’m really glad they moved you up in the schedule.

I had a pretty good night - mostly slept till almost 6, which is no surprise, considering how stoopit early I was up yesterday. I plan to spend today doing house chores, including cleaning the fridge, then restocking it. I also need to break out the carpet cleaner - there are at least 3 spots of cat hork, poor Taz. I don’t think he’s much longer for this world. Last night he was yelling at me, and every time I sat, he was on top of me.

Anyway, nothing exciting planned, but I’ll be busy. And I need to get back to eating properly and exercising again. I have gained back way too much of what I’d lost. Stoopit weight. Tomorrow, I’ll work on the boat in the morning, then I’ll watch Tobias for a couple of hours while my daughter takes Roxy to see the Minions movie. Tomorrow I also need to pick up a deck board to repair my clothesline deck - one of the planks is rotted and I have to be careful where I step. But first I need to measure - I can’t recall if it’s a 12’ or 16’ deck. And I need to find the paint - I think it’s in the back of my studio.

So that’ll be fun… For now, tho, just caffeination while FCD sleeps. It’s nice and quiet and not as stressful as the last few days were.

One incident I didn’t share: FCD asked his dad if he could borrow his chisels - he has a really nice set and FCD wanted them to work on the name plates for the boat (and ultimately wants them for himself.) His dad hasn’t used them in years, but the thought of lending them freaked him out for 2 days, so the request was withdrawn. FIL obsesses over the strangest things - it’s sad and a bit terrifying. Does Parkinson’s pass from father to son? Is this what I’ll be facing one day?

OK, let’s have some more pleasant thoughts. Um, puppies and kitties and sunflowers!!! :dog: :cat: :sunflower:

Happy Firday!!

PS - Wednesday was the 49th anniversary of me starting bootcamp. I was such an innocent back then…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall smoke some chikin boobs for today’s major activity. I figured I might as well do that before I cleanup Mr. Smoker. I reckon that will be tomorrow’s major activity. Beyond that there shall be sloth and probable quality cee-mint pond time. We have been invitated to attend a retirement soiree that will be held in the church Parish Hall this evenin’. They’re cookin’ a whole pig. I am sure there will be other stuff, but I am always happy to know pig meat is in my future.

Nettie glad Buddy is back home again.

doggio that was funny about Allie.

shoe I feel for ya. I think that when I bend over there’s a fifty-fifty chance I will be bent over permanently. Sometimes when I have to do sump’n that requires me to be on the floor, I think seriously about just livin’ the rest of my life on the floor rather than go through the agony of gettin’ up off the floor. Hope the new gig is goin’ well enough for ya.

The only times I have been put under is for a colonoscopy twice. I remember bein’ told I was bein’ given sump’n to make me go night night and then wakin’ up in the recovery/fart room afterwards.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward to smoke chikin boobs! Rah,

Happy Firday Y’all!
