Hi everyone. Hugs for WetOne. My hubby suffered with AFib. No fun at all.
Have a safe trip home FCM.
RED funny you mentioned BLT’s. That is what I made with the first ripe tomato. Love some BLT.
Stay healthy all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
I have one of those as well
On the road at 3:30 in the dark of the morning. Even Higgs was eager to get in the car.
Safe travels!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. In a little bit I shall crank up the smoker and smoke some ribs and two Boston BUTTS! as today’s main activity. Other than that I foresee quality cee-mint pond time, sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.
{{{WetOne}}} here’s hopin’ to day is a better day and that you’re feelin’ better.
MOOOOOOM safe travels back to Merryelande.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, smokeage awaits! Rah.
Happy Thorsday Y’all!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 18c/64f with a predicted high of 19c/66f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Clouds suck. At least they’re not fucking filled with screeching children”, a sentiment I can agree with.
shoe hope the new job goes well, come and tell us how fabulous it is!
wetone I’m sorry you’re having heart trouble again, I hope you have a better day today.
doggio hope you feel better soon too - more Negronis, that will help.
Moooom safe travels back to the critters!
Taters I’m sorry you had to break your vacation but it’s good that you dealt with the Important Thing. I hope the person who should have done it gets a stern talking-to later about actually shouldering responsibilities so that people can enjoy their much-needed holiday time without having to think about what’s going on at irk.
Been a busy morning here, I had blocked out some time first thing to clash check the exams timetable and email the students who need extra time, then let the admins know which bits need to be amended on the upload sites. Not a massive job but takes a bit of concentration, especially at my time of life.
Followed that with a senior admins meeting which was fun, there were only four of us attending today so we aired our grievances about everything related to exams and assessments which took quite a while!
Next I have blocked out some time to write up notes from a meeting yesterday that needs to be completed soon so I can send it round to the relevant interested (or disinterested) parties. Then a meeting this afternoon on exams and assessment that I’m attending 'cos my boss is off. Again.
Better get some lunch now, so I can share that with Shadow as it’s salmon and he’s very partial to salmon. Also, he’s lost a fair bit of weight and needs building up again.
Morning all. Have the tile guy coming about 8am, so I set my alarm for 7am and of course I woke up about 3am and never really got back to sleep fully and finally got up at 6am…when I have to be up at a certain time for an event I most always can’t sleep well the night before. Anyway the car is out of the garage and the house is cooling and I’m properly attired, so that at least is an accomplishment.
FCM, take care, safe driving home.
boo fae, sounds like a lot of meetings, hope they don’t wear you down.
Flyboy, thanks for the info, like most here sectionals means the couches on steriods.
Nettie, glad the car is back with you where it belongs. Guess DH knows what he’s buying next time car shopping comes along…
wet one, take care and hope the heart settles down.
OK, need to do some stuff and get ready for the tile guy. All y’all have a good Thorsday.
We’re about a quarter of the way thru SC. Making good time.
Garbage day was yesterday and everyone’s can was emptied except mine, WTF? I called the garbage company. Very nice lady. She will send a truck out for mine, but said “we’ll look at the videos and if it turns out the can wasn’t there at normal pick up, you will get a $40 charge.” So now garbage trucks have video cams??.?
I am scared. I’m just staying at home today, I’ll admit I wish the cardiac ablation was today instead of October 4. The EP had no openings til September, and my BIL is having deep brain stimulation in early Sept and I want to be with my sister. That’s why my procedure is October. But my sister will understand if I have mine done earlier. Depends on the doc’s schedule.
Thanks for listening,
Good morning everyone.
peedin, I’m sorry about your heart scare and garbage problems. It’s really annoying when they don’t pick up. I wonder if someone’s car was parked too close to your can. Our trucks have these big arms that pick up the cans, so if there is a car that is too close, they won’t pick it up.
FCM, here’s to safe and smooth travels. May your sleep be restful and long when you get home.
I’m getting my hair done-did today, so I had to make myself presentable for being out in public. I’m finishing my coffee up before I brush my teeth and put on a little mascara. I think I may just stop and get a pedicure after I get my hair cut. It’s nice and relaxing and I’m sick of the current color on my toenails.
Today is supposed to be mostly cloudy with a high of 72. I’m okay with that, especially since the heat starts edging upward over the weekend.
I guess that’s about all that is going on. You all have a great day!
Tile folks are here and almost done, just waiting to see what the $$ damage is. Once I have their bill, I’ll look to submit an insurance claim (not for the water leak, it was below the slab and didn’t damage the property, so I don’t think it was covered), but for the repair of things the plumbers had to tear up to do the work. We’ll see.
Also double-checked my big Antarctica trip to make sure changes I made a couple weeks ago had been added (they have) and to see if I could get a booked flight (Buenos Aires to the port of Ushuaia) upgraded to Business (thought it was a short flight, turned out to be 3.5 hours long, so the leg space is worth it) and what it would cost. I’ll see what they charge and decide.
wet one, don’t blame you for being scared, hope they can get you worked in. And BIL getting deep brain stimulation…sounds both exciting and terrifying.
FCM, do we have to get Sheriff Buford T. Justice chasing you??
Taters, happy hair day!
OK, onward into Thorsday.
I agree with you about this.
We already have a Bronco on order, but have become convinced that having a second vehicle would be a very good idea, so yeah, we’re discussing getting a similar Jeep that would become primarily mine once he gets his Bronco. ![]()
I’m starting to wonder if we’re related. ![]()
I’m sorry to hear that.

I think you should ask your doctor what the risk is to waiting until October and then decide what to do. I’m sorry you’re scared. I wish I was there to give you a big hug in person.
Hi Butters!
Safe trip FCM!!
Someone was doing something near our house last night in the wee hours. It didn’t sound like fireworks. It didn’t quite sound like gunfire. My husband thought it sounded like someone throwing a large rock into a dumpster? Anyhoo, it happened a few times, and then Akiko lost her mind. Once she went off, it stopped. Now I’m thinking idiot teenagers doing something??? I’ll have to go look around in a bit.
Happy Thursday!
Since this is the SDMB after all, a gentle nitpick:
The words have totally different meanings in each context. Yes, it means carbon-based, but it also can refer to agricultural practices that do not use man-made chemicals (to simplify, there are of course legal details) and the two are totally unrelated.
I achieved a bit of adulting today, including submitting a Medicaid application. Tecchhhhhnnnically I’m still unemployed (for a couple more hours LOL) and have zero income right now, so it seemed like a good time to submit the relevant facts.
Now, onwards to the fridge/pantry, to bolster my energy a bit. Charm got her snack yesterday, and Pretzel absolutely smashed two of my larger adults today, so at least they’re eating.
I’m so sorry, wet one. I hope they can get you in sooner.
Last night was really stormy here. There’s a water main break up the street and the kids are wiped out and cranky because they both had to get up early after a stormy night and had their braces tightened this morning. I’m tired because I went to bed stupid late despite knowing I was going to get up at 5 a.m. to walk with a friend (it didn’t happen - it was raining). I couldn’t fall back asleep because my husband was snoring and kept trying to cuddle up to me while breathing directly into my face. Bleh.
Eh, if those are my worst problems, I guess I’ll take them. Trying to decide between leftovers and leftovers for lunch. The husband unit keeps asking to order out; not sure why I bother making elaborate meals to his taste (and at his request) when we spend more ordering food. I’m gonna start having the kids help me plan meals again.
Edited to add: we may be having takeout after all. There’s a truck carrying an enormous backhoe outside - looks like they’ll have to turn off all the mains and dig up the street. Dang.
Oh, hey, a last-minute rat buyer, on her way right now. ![]()
That’ll put a cpl gallons of gas in the ol’ tank.
Status:
(it felt that hot, and the machine that makes the good ice is broken. ![]()
: Waves westward :
It’s martini day
Well, toast up a couple of ASF, and get to snacking, woman! ![]()
We’re in VA. Home in about 3 hours if traffic stays good.
The last 24 hours have sucked. Back to the ED this morning. That’s twice in less than 24 hours. Waiting to hear from the EP about moving my procedure.
This seems unnecessarily limiting.
I hope they can do this. Sending more hugs.
