The Slugabed MMP

Up from nap, got the fried baking, and drinking an Old Fashioned.

but you now have your RDA of MMP TMI.

{{{{sari}}}}

Glad you got some things done for the inlaws, FCM.

A lot, but glad there’s some fun in there.

Evening all. Swimmin’ has been swum and then I helped out with soccer uniform purchases and other questions for 90 minutes before letting Mickey D’s provide the evening sustenance. Rain most of the morning and early afternoon, but dried out in the later hours, but the temps were down in the 80’s today, which was nice.

Interesting driving day, I had to reverse out of my lane and turn around (3-point turn) twice in one morning, the first coming back from shopping and a truck had jack-knifed across the 2 lane road I was on, so had to turn and detour around it. And 90 minutes later, heading for Jersey Mike’s had a train stop on the tracks in front of me, so did a 180 and back to the bridge over the tracks. Mundane, but having to do it twice in a couple of hours…unusual.

FCM, glad you and FCD are lending a hand, but how much longer can they hope to carry on on their own?

nellie, great story on the kids; I’ll be coaching pre-teens (8-11 years old) pretty soon, kids are usually great people if you give them half a chance.

Much better than Subway, and while they don’t toast their sammiches, they do cut the meat from the loaf in front of you and the bread they use is better (IMHO). There is a new place due to open soon (John Smith subs) that I’ll try when they open, just to see.

Sari, large families and estates never seem to go well; only have one brother and he gets the works; his family (3 kids) is larger and likely will be more…interesting. Hope you get the ‘set aside’.

flyboy, good news on the stitches and the weed-whacking (guess the neighbor did get what he wanted…)

VanGo, sounds like a long day for little gain; have had my share of days like that. Take care.

shoe, sounds like you’re the purr-fect house-sitter.

OK, that’s all for the night. Need to head off to sleep soon as I did not achieve nappage today and I don’t wanna be a slugabed. Take care all.

We are still at seminar. Mom is enjoying stitching with whoever sits at the table and I have learned a new cheat.

There has been way too much walking, my hip starts screaming before 10. I’m doing a lot of faking things cause Mom is having fun.

Sari, Im so sorry about the family drama. Money and death can make people insane. When my father died, one of my sisters got really crazy mad because Mom didn’t sell their home and give us our share of Dad’s money right now.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Glad Mom is enjoying, JtC, even if your hip is not.

Well, they’re finally acknowledging reality and have talked about giving up the car and possibly even moving, so some progress towards reality. Not a l, but a start.

BTW, the clock just chimed 4. Hope I can fall back to sleep… I miss sleeping in our king-size, dog-free bed.

Totally true! I would love to be a slugabed properly but I can’t on my campus days as I’m out of the house early, and other days I am always awake long before I need to get up. The delights of having hungry and/or fuss-deprived cats in the house.

The weather app is a constant delight, and I’m happy for anyone to use whatever little gems it throws out  If you want to have one of your own, it’s an app called “What the Forecast?”, you get to pick your own level of profanity too.

Today it’s 21c/69f with a predicted high of 22c/71f and rain showers which is right. Humid, muggy and wet…it’s just not nice. Weather app says “It’s raining and Mother Nature gives zero fucking fucks”. I’d agree with that.

Three meetings in a row now, better get myself a cup of tea before the fun starts!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 with rain predicted for late afternoon. We shall see. Today is laundry day. The thrill of it all! Also, we need to deal with some bank stuff, so we shall go see bank person at eleven this mornin’ and follow that with N.O.L. at the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet place bein’ as it is close to the bank. Any other need to feed today will be via forage. We shall also get our RDA of sloth.

MOOOOOOM glad y’all have been able to help the 'rents-in-law out so much already. Hopefully they will come to the realization that they cannot continue to function on their own and move somewhere. However, it must be their decision, as we all know.

{{{sari}}} good for you for takin’ the high road. Families can be such PITA when it comes to estate stuff. I am so glad my sibs and I knew exactly what was what and even though it took several months to get it all done everything went pretty smoothly.

Everyone else, I read, but I have the retention span of a gnat, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Ugh, I keep scrolling SDMB/Reddit until I can’t keep my eyes open. Then as soon as I lay back down, BOOM! my brain starts running in circles like an idiot.

Morning all. Up at 6:30am again, wishing I was a slugabed. Need to stop at the flooring store again, see if I can schedule someone to replace the tile taken out by the plumbers, and mail my electric bill (which has grown quite a bit this hot summer…). Gym and soccer are on the agenda, so that should keep me busy and out of trouble (maybe). Heading for 94F with a 1-in-3 chance of rain.

JtC, hope the hip holds out, sounds like you’re having fun too.

Heave away, doggio

OK, onward into the day; need sustenance before anything else. All y’all take care.

For a thrilling wake-up, I highly recommend the sound of gunfire at 2 a.m… I heard two loud bangs, then after 10 seconds, two more. My first thought was the house across the street, where there was a shoot=out several years ago, but since I didn’t hear any sirens, more likely it was backfire from a car. It took me an hour to get back to sleep., though, so a pox on the culprit.

Today’s excitement includes getting my monthly injections. I shall also gyminate,

FCM, hooray for the in-law’s seeing the light!

It must be a trend, as my sister in Louisiana says everyone there had a big increase. I’m hoping mt being gone for a week offsets running the portable AC during The Great Melt.

Morning everyone.

I was up at two but went back to bed at 3:00 and stayed there until about 6:40 or so.

I woke to cloudy skies and 63 degrees. It will be partly sunny/cloudy later with temps warming to 77. I am okay with that. Tomorrow those up north might see some moisture fall from the sky. It’s unlikely down here, though. It will be cloudy with temps in the 70s, but by the weekend we start warming into the 80s.

I went to both Lowes and Home Depot yesterday where I purchased more dirt and a bunch of flowers. It’s definitely the end of the season so the pickings were a little slim. However, I came home with some beautiful specimens and got everything in the ground and filled in my containers too. I had planted quite a bit; a whole raised bed garden plus the bed under my great room window. I already had some plants at the house that needed transplanting, so it was busy, but I’m glad to have it done. I normally would have been completely done by the first part of July, but our dreary spring and early summer made being out in the yard a wet proposition.

I am sure my power bill will be a little higher since we started running the portable AC in the bedroom. It’s off now, though. I actually woke up a little cold this morning (the second time I woke up). I had only been sleeping with a sheet on top since my duvet was folded up and put clear across the room. I’ll need to get it back on the bed, lol! That duvet is too warm for me in general, but I think this morning it would have felt okay.

I need to pick up Polar’s Rymadil today. I may go out and get a pedicure, but am not sure yet.

Other than that, I don’t have real plans on the agenda again.

I’m glad FCD folks are beginning to concede a little, FCM. I hope that they follow through with action.

Take care, everyone.

Went to a “jazz” concert here at Walking Dead Manor last night, which included root beer floats. Two horns, a bass and a banjo playing Stephen Foster, for cripes sake. I fully expected someone to come out in blackface to sing “Mammy”. And they insisted on telling Irish jokes. Never again. We stayed for the first set to be polite, then called it a night. I think we both aged 10 years just being there.

FCD has taken his mom to social security, so I’m home alone with FIL. It’s been a challenge keeping him out of the garage. He’s sleeping now which helps. I baked a peach crisp for tonight’s dessert.

It’s been scary pulling pots out of the cabinets, seeing how dirty they are. One had food remnants stuck in the bottom. Not good. Don’t know what the answer is…

Old age sucks sometimes.

yay for injections nellie! They’re helping with the itching, right? If so, then I love them!

That sounds bad cookie. I don’t know how you managed to stay for the whole set.

Good morning everyone. Have a wonderful (checks day) Tuesday. I need more coffee.

Today is Toosday!!!
I can’t keep up.

My brain is fried
But Happy Toosday!

I downloaded What the Forecast
Hotter as Balls.
Don’t go outside. It’s too friggin hot. Or do it, I don’t care.
I needed to turn profanity on.
It’s Hot and the Sun is a Twat.
Much better!

Fairly nice morning at the park. It was 71 then, 87 now.
Barky and Humpy were there, and they got on my nerves.
My dogs can’t move without Barky getting in their faces. Another dog was trying to entice Barky to come play with her, but nope, Barky was fixated on Echo and wouldn’t leave her alone.
Ripple stepped two feet out of the pavilion and Barky was right in his face.

Lucy dad got Echo and took her on the small dog side with him. Echo is just a blur when she runs to him. He doesn’t even need to leash her, she follows him right into the small side and runs down to sit on the bench to wait for him.
Later Coco and Rocky were running together, Barky and Humpy joined in and all was good until Coco stopped. Then Barky and Humpy got in her face barking at her, and you can tell Coco is intimidated by them. Barky and Humpy mom laughs, and doesn’t do a thing to stop them. She gets mad that the other dogs don’t want to play with hers, but she doesn’t see that her dogs are bullies.

Coco dad took Coco to the small dog side to get her away from Barky.

It’s so peaceful when Barky and Humpy aren’t there.

Did I mention there was a service dog at the funeral home? Labradoodle, and a nice dog. She went from person to person giving cuddles. She seemed very attached to Niece2.

My son goes back to irk tonight.
They are so busy that even my friend, his boss, had to get into doing the irk.
I forget the section she went into, but it’s a lot of heavy lifting. She asked one of the office irkers to come help out. She is in her mid 40s, has had one hip replaced, needs the other replaced, and has a pinched nerve in her neck. He is in his 20s, a bodybuilder, in great shape, not an ounce of fat. He didn’t last an hour. She said now people are laughing at him for being such a wimp.
I said working out is not the same thing as working, muscle memory and all that, but I agree it’s still pretty sad that she was irking circles around him.

We spent a good hour last night taking the vacuum apart and cleaning it. It’s irking a whole lot better now.
Two long haired people, two dogs, and a cat sure produce a lot of hair. It’s mostly my hair that gets wrapped around the rollers.

I’m still trying to catch up with what y’all are doing.

I called the doctor to reschedule an appointment. I needed to have bloodirk done and that didn’t happen. I told her I need just a little bit of time as I still feel discombobulated. She asked if I needed something to help me sleep. No, no, I don’t. I need something to help me stay awake.
I should probably take a day and sleep in, but of course I will wake up anyway.

OMG, am I really wishing for Fox News? FIL turned on an idiotic preacher show. GAG!

I did get to the credit union to take care of some business. Now… dunno. Run away?

Trying to decide how concerned I should be about my temperature today being 96.5, which is a degree or more below my “normal” (usually in the 97.something range).

Afternoon all. Have an 8am appointment Thorsday to get the tile replaced that got torn out by the plumbers a week or so ago. Only 4 tiles, so hopefully won’t take long. Did a couple hours of on-line training for soccer and am going out at 5pm to do soccer with the kids, so skipping the gym for today, figure that will burn some calories. 92F outside so not a lot of cooling from the rain yesterday.

Sari, thanks for another chapter in “Dogpark Days of our Lives” (for those who don;t know, a takeoff on a long-running soap opera). And yeah, I might be exercising quite a bit but don’t ask me to lay on the ground and get right up; if it’s things you don’t usually do, it can be a lot harder than expected.

Cookie, only a good Irish comic can tell Irish jokes right.

nellie,  Hope it was just a car backfiring.

OK, need to be thinking about with soccer group to work with (probably the U9’s, then maybe the U10’s later). Take care all.

Dropped off a job application, manager asked if I had a few minutes to chat.

Me: “Sure!”

We went over my background, and … I start day after tomorrow.

Yay hurrah and happy day! I hope this place turns out to be peaceful and appreciates you. Best of luck!
