The Slugabed MMP

Made Redneck stirfry and a Manhattan for dinner. The hockey convention COVID count is now 12.

Apparently somebody has not read the Interweb. Not anymore.

Hope you don’t have to bug out, Bumba.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! Early one for me, I was up stupidly early so out of the house earlier than usual after showering, hair-drying, cat feeding, litter tray cleaning, breakfast and feline medication. It’s 19c/67f with a predicted high of 24c/75f and partly cloudy. It’s also humid so I’m all hot and sticky now after a mile walk to the station, two train journeys and another trot from the university station to the office.

Weather app says “This is the perfect weather to not eat Tide Pods. Seriously, stop with the fucking dumb internet challenges”. Sounds look good advice to me.

shoe congrats on the new job!

VanGo congrats also on steady work, and hopefully a steady income to go with it.

nellie hope the shots work as they should, and you haven’t had to sacrifice too many brain cells.

Mooooom good to hear that MIL is at least recognising they need help even if FIL isn’t quite so with it. It’s progress, if nothing else. Have a safe trip back home, the critters will be pleased to see you!

shady sorry you’re hurting, hope you feel better soon.

Bumba fingers crossed you don’t have to bug out too. Sounds scary.

Nothing exciting in my day, I have a 1.5hr session to attend this morning on managing student enquiries, I think it’s got something to do with how we organise and use our various mailboxes but I will find out when I get there. I wasn’t supposed to be attending, it’s an objective on a colleague’s annual review thing but she’s on extended leave so I am going in her place. I wonder if that means I’ll get credit for it on my annual review!

Actually slept till just after 5. Huzzah!

I think it rained last night, or maybe it just sounded rainy. There was lots of lightning and boom-booms before I crawled into bed, so maybe?

Today I can start sorting and packing. MIL has given us some stuff for us and for our kid, but we’re still leaving with less than we brought. Unless we take FCD’s walker back. FIL doesn’t use it, unsurprisingly.

Anyway, glad to be productive and packing.

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 93 and partly N.O.S. for the day. We shall procure provisions this mornin’. I had visions of mowage today but it rained a lot overnight, so may have to put that off until tomorrow. Sup shall be hamburger steaks ‘n onion gravy, field peas with snaps, rice, squishes, and rolls. I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for that, so thus it shall be.

shades hope you’re less achy today.

MOOOOOOM yay for gettin’ outta there tomorrow.

Bumba here’s hopin’ y’all don’t have to bug out.

Nellie don’t feel bad. Think of it as havin’ earned the right to have senior moments.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is so hard!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Oh, we are getting some THUNDER-boomers here in western Mitten State! Dang, I hope the power stays on.

{{ hugs Coolio }}

{{ whispers softly }} “Please keep working.”

Morning all. I guess Wednesday is my designated sleep-in day, was not up until 8:30am to take my pills and rescue the newspaper from outdoors. Swimmin’ and the Great August Shopping run are both on my schedule, we’ll see if I can work up the ambition to do both. Have sheets in the washer because they need to be. Another day at 92F and 1-in-7 chance of rain.

Boo fae, just used a Tide Pod with my wash; never have had the slightest desire to eat one. Hope the morning session wasn’t too boring.

Yep, that’s me, Normally I have to walk back to the room I came from and that makes me remember what I was after…

OK, need to do the shopping list and get that out of the way. Take care all.

metal mouse One of the nice things about the CNC machine is I can tell it to work while do other stuff. In fact it is running a batch of things to take to that store right now, while I’m messing around here. I think of it as a really stupid assistant. It’ll work, doing exactly what you told it to, but if you messed up the instructions, it do it anyway.

I should probably go check on it.

Stay safe, all!

shoe, congratulations on the new job! I’m so happy for you!!

Sari, I’m so sorry about your family bickering - I can’t even imagine how much stress that adds.

I’m so peeved about work right now I’m going to the Pit. So there.

Up and organizing my day. I made chocolate pudding from scratch last night with the secret ingredient (chocolate chips, which make it creamier) to take to my neighbor who had surgery. Her friendly, lively poodle is coming home from being kenneled, so I’ll probably take her (the dog) for a walk or two. I have odds and ends to do around here, including rearranging a closet. And of course the gym awaits.

Oh, dear. With your FIL’s history of falling, I’m sure you and FCD really wish he would, but kudos for all you two do.

shoe, have a great first day on the job!

wordy, sorry the job is giving you fits.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 55 degrees and sunny with an expected high of 78. I have the sprinkler going in the backyard because I didn’t water yesterday or the day before. I watered my flowers, but not the grass anyway.

Congrats on the job, shoe! I hope this is place is a million times better than the last one.

Sari, it’s amazing how much crap a death can bring out. I’m sorry you have to deal with it.

FCM, I’m glad you get to bug out a little early. Kudos to both of you for everything you’re trying to do for the inlaws.

Bumba, I really hope the fire stays away from where you live.

wordy, I’m sorry about the job woes.

I made the mistake of checking my work email yesterday and was instantly annoyed. On one hand, I’m glad I checked, or an important funding document wouldn’t have been taken care of in a timely manner (approved and signed by me), on the other hand, I’m annoyed it was sitting there ready for me, along with an email stating it’s important I sign it. I am annoyed because before I left, I told the sender to get the director to sign all funding documents. What would have happened had I not checked my email? I told this individual I really needed this break so I would not be checking my email and that I was counting on her to handle things. Nope; she didn’t. I had to clean up some other stuff too and tell her to make sure she attended an important Teams meeting with regard to our travel budget next year. In all likelihood, I will be sneaking onto a session on Friday morning. Some vacation…

I also picked up Polar’s meds yesterday, and then went to both Lowes and Home Depot with the husband to pick up some particular pavers. Unfortunately, they didn’t have what we were looking for.

We came home and I did some general tidying and watered my plants. That’s about all that I did.

Tomorrow, I have a haircut scheduled and that’s about it.

Ugh. Happy thoughts duly sent. Pack up though. 'cause I worry.

VanGo congrats on the gig!

I hope the pain eases up shady.

You chose wisely, young padawan.

Not too much to report here. I slept through my alarm like a champ, so resetting my body for the school year clearly needs more work. I have a meeting scheduled to talk to my daughter’s school about her classes and I need to work on my son’s enrollment packet.

Take care and Happy Wednesday!

Abbey got onto the roof. The catio is open on top, because there’s really no way to close it. I was irking when I saw Abbey dart across the catio. ‘Looks like she’s having fun,’ I thought. I went outside after a few minutes and didn’t see her. I thought she might have slipped back inside. I saw some movement on the roof and thought it was a squirrel. I looked, and there was Abbey. I called her and clapped my hands, and she came to the corner of the roof. Cat Mom came out and asked me to bring the stool out of the house. When I got back, she had Abbey in her arms. Abbey tried to get down the post head-first, and Cat Mom got her when she was within reach.

Based on Abbey’s earlier movement, it seemed likely that she’d climbed up the post. Cat Mom moved the barbie over so Abbey can’t get to the bottom of the post. She can still jump up on the rolling cabinet and hop over to the side-burner on the barbie, so we’ll have to keep an eye on her. Too many missing cats around here.

Ohgoddammit. I need to hit Wally World today - I’m out of drinking water, down to my last roll of T.P. and Monkey insists on eating every single day and we’re almost out of both kibblez and gooshy-food. So the situation is pretty hard to ignore!

Anyway, I derped around all morning, even thinking “Huh, all that thunder and no rain!” and of course, as soon as I put on pants and headed out, the heavens opened.

Imma hang with y’all in the parking lot for a sec and see if it blows over.

… and just like that, it stopped. I’m glad I waited a minute!

Okay, off to procure life’s necessities.

Train to home is out of service, so I’m melting on a bus.

We didn’t have to bug out. 6am report was that the fire started 13 miles west of here and has burned 2000 acres. I read an unverified report last night that 4 houses were burned. The newsys didn’t say anything about that this morning though, so who knows. Still not contained, they say. We are still under evacuation orders, but when I looked to the west this morning I didn’t see any smoke.??? We’ll keep our bags packed and keep an eye on our phones for orders from the sheriff, but I think we’re safe. They jumped on that mothergrabber fire with everything they had. We had firefighters from 5 or 6 different jurisdictions, with planes dropping retardant even. I’m expecting somebody to start complaining about ‘government overreach’ any minute now. After all, no rich people’s property was threatened.

Hope everybody’s woes get sorted soonest.

Mom, leave the walker, take the cannoli.

Shoe, what will you be doing on your new job?

That’s all for now.

Status:

I took a spill yesterday and skinned my leg, and tweeked my right wrist. Then today the boxes were all falling against my left leg in smalls, so it’s more bruise than leg at this point. And my left work glove has a bad seam, so I have a blister on my little finger, and an earworm if you want one.

People say this to me when I go to the bar.

Safe travels, Moooooommmmm!, and leave the walker.

Yeah, you want to avoid The Starvation ScreechTM

It’s a local mini-chain that specializes in ribs (natch, I got this!) and pizza. It’s hugely popular.

Tomorrow’s gonna be … interesting. I have been under the weather for a while (tummy troubles) and just getting groceries has left me weak & out of breath. I gotta start EATING more, dammit!

ETA: now it’s warm and ridiculously muggy, and imma park myself in front of Coolio for a while.

oohhh if you can put the ribs (well the meat and sauce)on the pizza …

I got an odd request from my uncle. ‘Do you or [Wifey] happen to have a Seattle Sectional Chart, current or obsolete that you would be so kind to send me? Can’t find a decent road map and my enroute charts do not show enough detail. Local flying school has gone all digital and no longer carry any kind of charts.’ I hadn’t thought of using a sectional to see roads; but yeah, roads are landmarks. I had one from 2014, and also one for Klamath Falls. I dropped them off at the Post Office an hour ago.
