I bought a card for the guy (Sergio.) It said. “Sometimes I wish life had an undo button. I’m sorry.” He liked it.
Tomorrow my grand-nephew is coming over for dinner, with his mom (my niece.) He’s been up in Dover in the Air Force, but he’s home for a week, so I’ll cook a homey dinner for him. He asked for asparagus of all things! So I’ll make a couple of pork tenderloins, some scalloped NOT (Rosie’s Potatoes - recipe in the blog) and steamed speargrass. And brownies. I have to run by the store on the way home.
Working on my song for a talent show I’m going to be in next month, and waiting on PB to get home From his work training. Not much else to report, 'cept I think I’m finally done with the @%^% bleedy. YAY!
Yay for the drop-in center, LiLi. That sounds like it’ll be a lifesaver.
Home from work and then brief babysitting stint (there was 1/2 an hour between Dad going to work and Mom coming home from a viewing, so brother and I entertained the 4-year-old; it was fun).
Now I have to finish putting together a presentation for tomorrow. That is less fun
Worked, then went to my friend’s house for her birthday. We bought her a couple bottles of wine (my friends and I are easy to buy presents for). we drank one. Had a heck of a thunderstorm, 1-2 feet of water on some roads. It washed over Hippi the Jeep’s windshield on the way home.
Yay for girliness, LiLi but a big boo for sickiness!
I am home from my fabulaaaaaaaaarse holiday in the Caribbean - flight back was long and tedious despite the obvious advantages of Virgin’s upper class seats. We arrived in London at 10am, made it across town to our train station by midday and then had to wait for an hour and a half for the train we’d booked seats on. Got back into the house around 3.30pm.
We were both really tired so decided to have a couple of hours’ sleep to recharge the batteries, that was a good move as it helped keep us going for the rest of the evening. We decided on a last act of decadence and ordered pizza for dinner, then went to the pub as usual with our Wednesday night drinking buddies. I went to bed at 11.30pm, woke up 2hrs later and am still wide awake. Bah.
Luckily I have Thursday off work as we have to go and collect the cats from the moggery where they’e been holidaying, and do grocery shopping because there’s no food in the house. Then it’s back on the diet to try and undo some of the damage that this fantastic trip will have done to my weight-loss plans.
I will be back at work on Friday for my final week. I can’t believe the end of September has come round so quickly, next Friday I will be officially unemployed! How exciting is that?!
ETA: Welcome to the n00bz! Good luck on the surgery, mmmmmmmms, I hope you made that last glass of wine count.
A pig pickin’? Goldsboro style, maybe? I’ll be right over!
Minor update on the arm - it’s still funky feeling. No problems with the wrist or carpal tunnel, at least - this is sort of like upside-down carpal tunnel syndrome. I managed to survive a half day of work today.
After some nuttiness with Amazon saying it would ship in 2-3 weeks, my new trackball arrived today via overnight air. ????
What really wild is that it’s almost exactly the same model I had 20 years ago. Only difference is this one’s USB and black. The old one was tan and serial. (Not even PS2 back then!) Now to get used to trackballing instead of mousing - the dynamics of spinning a ball are quite different than rolling a mouse. I just need to find the right acceleration setting so I can go end-to-end on two monitors without having to roll, roll, roll, roll… or have the cursor go <fwip!> and smash against the far end in a flash.
NO SOUP FOR YOU! Sorry, but we ate every last drop of a pot of cream of broccoli soup that I made today. It turned out far better than I expected, and I normally just casually tolerate broccoli. Insanely easy and simple too - chicken broth, onion, broccoli and cream is all you need. Amusingly, the cream was more expensive than the broccoli. When you’re planning to boil something to death, a little wilted is not a problem, so a judicious selection from the “scratch and dent” veggies shelf can pay off. Chicken stock was all but free - I’m an insufferable chicken skeleton boiler.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 84 and they say rain. So far, we’ve had an itty bitty bit of rain. I want some tboomers and downpours dangit!

Welcome back BooFae!
I shall be off irk this afternoon. I am takin’ the time off to hang out and wait to be switched back to ATT for internet. The phone part has happened. Soon as this is done Ima take the dang box back to Mediacom and be done with 'em. WOOHOO!!! Stoopit cable company.
Ok that’s all I got this mornin’. I need me some more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I must purtify for irk.
**Soapy **- it’s mega-muggy here also. Last night, I closed up the house and turned on the air just to suck some of the humidity out - it was 80% inside according to the magic box in the hallway. It’s supposed to rain today and tomorrow after raining overnight. Yanno, a wee bit o’ sunshine would be most welcome…
Breakfast is the last piece of leftover quiche. Supper will be poke chops because that’s the first thing I saw when I opened the freezer this morning. And some time today, I’ll do some laundry. Yep, it’ll be excitin’ here in FairyChatLand…
After class, I get to stop at Lowe’s for some stuff for the aquarium. Yep, excitin’ is the word.
Having no kids in the house on a regular basis is… interesting. Not sure if I like it or not
Yay, boo, hugs (appropriate ones for the guys, inappropriate for the ladies ;)) etc… Have not been keeping up with the MMP (or with the Boards in general, or with FB, or, mostly with e-mail…**) lately
Hopefully life has quit being a whirlwind for a while…
Lunch! WAssssssssssssssssssssup?
I’m planning to butcher mulilate sing Memory from CATS.
Up early to go pick up Ma (That’s PB;s Mom) from work. [strike]scratched[/strike]
