You have to go to the ticket window. Otherwise, if 300 people with DVD tickets show up, and 300 people show up with window tickets, and the theatre only seats 300, guess who gets the boot?
Yeah, that’s how I figure the tickets work. It’s basically like a coupon for a free ticket. It can only be redeemed as long as tickets are available.
You may want to check on that.
Whoo-Hoo! Less than 8 hours for me! 12:01 AM showing Tuesday night (wednesday morning)! Can’t wait!
29… man… I can’t think about much else. I’m supposed to work?
Thank you thank you thank you for reminding me, for some strange reason I thought it was TOMORROW at midnight…I just bought my ticket to the last 2:01 show within 20 miles of me that was available (Webster Place)
Any Chi-dopers going to this one??
I could see it in 2.75 hours (11:30pm Tuesday) pending some of the following:
-
Guy at work gets spare ticket to private staff screening. (75% chance, apparently)
-
SO calls me to say she doesn’t mind. She’s in the pub and uncontactable. Have sent SMS and called a gazillion times.
3a. SO is sober enough to get taxi as I’ll be unable to pick her up if watching LOTR.
3b. SO calls and says pick me up (if she can’t stand) and there is still time to get her home and get back to the cinema. (round trip: 35 mins)
- Pigs fly, snowballs in hell, chocolate kettles, fish on bikes etc.
Oh well. I hope he enjoys it.
The thing that came in your dvd is a coupon you redeem for a regular ticket - it does nothing else. You still have to wait on whatever line to get into the movie just like everyone else. And as was said before, you have to redeem the coupon for a ticket - you can’t just show up to a theater and expect them to let you into a sold out show with it.
I saw it in the free sneak preview last week and I redeemed my dvd coupon for a showing this weekend with friends… I’ll have seen it twice and not paid for it! This allows me to see it two more times than I would have since I saved that money!
I haven’t got a ticket yet, but the stars have arrived in Wellington so it’ll be out here this week.
Oh and Peter Jackson has sent a letter to the Film Commission protesting at their mishandling of a local film-compay’s liquidation. He has invoked the ultimate sanction - the bureaucrats aren’t invited to the NZ premiere!
Now if only we could persuade him to enter parliament…
26 hours from right . . . now. I am so jazzed.
The CNN reviewer loves it, by the way, even though he hasn’t figured out that Saruman != Sauron.
(See above ‘Flapcats’ post first)
SO got a lift home at 11:20
Ticket holder called me up and said he still had a free ticket but there isn’t time to get there now. So I’ve offered it to a collegue (Deadline on Friday so everyone else is still at work) he snapped it up like one of those really big wolves we’re not allowed to know about.
Sigh looks like the pigs flew, but there were strikes at the airport and I missed my flight. Oh well. 42 hours for me…
Tick Tock.
In six hours I will be standing in a packed lobby waiting to be let in to the theater with 499 other people who know this is better than sleep any day.
Reprieve!! Reprieve!!
I called my local Cinemark today at lunch, and they have two other screens worth of times that didn’t hit the website. The nice lady said that even the unpublished times were about half sold already, and she recommended that I purchase my ticket in advance. Unfortunately, since the other times didn’t hit the website that means I couldn’t buy tickets online, so I had to run up there after work.
The bottom line is that I am now in possession of a ticket for the 1pm show tomorrow afternoon. Woo!
::hyperventilates and runs in circles::
The cynical side of me notes that CNN and New Line are siblings of the same mega-monstrous corporate parent (AOL Time Warner). Not that it matters, I’m sure.
23:30 to go for me…
My local 25-screen megaplex claims with a straight face that it is only showing TTT on one screen tomorrow.
I got tickets to see it at 12:01 about 4 hours from now. Woohoo!
Four hours!! Four hours!!!
We’re going to the theatre, which is having some sort of late-night buffet type thing. Fun fun! So, is anyone dressing up? Should I bring a camera with me?
SO excited!
HUGE MEGA-SPOILER FOR THE TWO TOWERS :
It’s got hobbits in it.
I didn’t want to look, I didn’t want to look. But I did! I did! Aarrrrrghh, I could just shoot myself!
[sub]sigh I guess I’ll still be able to enjoy the movie, but it just won’t be the same . . . [/sub]
Getting ready to head out for my 12:10 showing (here in the central time zone). I’m not looking at the spoiler box, but I happened to hear that my favorite sequence from the book Two Towers will not be in the film, and if that’s what you’re referencing then I share your pain. Heck it’s probably my favorite sequence in the whole trilogy. Oh well, it might be in the third movie, only a year away.
